Mac Pro :: Not Reading Any Discs - Make High Pitch Sound And Eject
Jul 14, 2008I just purchased a mac pro about 4 months ago and I love it, I have never had a problem with it until today, I went to install a new program on it and it did not even read it, it made a hi pitched sound for a short time then stopped, waited about 10 seconds did the same thing. After a couple times of doing this it would eject the disc, so I figured I would try another disc, I have tried many different discs such as games, cds, programs and nothing has worked.

I have no interest in using the Mail app, and if I could I would delete it (alas it is a required application and I cannot do that). I use google mail and outlook as a client, and I would really just like the Mail app to leave me alone. I have changed all the file associations, and I have checked that mail is not one of the "start on login" apps under my profile.

2、Synchronize the local addressbook to icloud
3、Open the mac mail，and then create a new mail
then comes my problem，no matter what I type , the address has never show. As I know , the correct result should be:1、Just need to type a few main words in the "sent to" column ,os will search the local addressbook and show the corresponding address for user to choose.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Finder Is Giving Wrong Report About Space
Apr 19, 2012 Finder reported that I had about 360 GB of free space. But right now it's reporting that I have 435. The only thing I have removed from my computer is Adobe Flash, which is not nearly that large. In system information, it does report that I have 88 GB of backups and 346 GB of free space, but why would the Finder all of a sudden report such a drastic change in free space?

May 1, 2009I have just set up our G5 Mac's on our Windows Domain, I have enabled IMAP on Exchange Server 2003 and configured Mac Mail accordingly. Mac Mail can now send and receive messages and attachment just fine but when a sent message fails you do not receive the automated delivery failure notification from the System Administrator. If the Mac operator uses Outlook Web Access or a PC using IMAP to check his Inbox then the automated messages are displayed fine but Mac Mail refuses to pick them up. I am new to Mac's and would appreciate some advice, I have checked the Junk mail and they are not there either.

Feb 17, 2012If I encrypt an external drive using File Vault 2 (Lion 10.7.3) as a Time Machine backup from my current laptop, then later purchase a new laptop and attempt to read that encrypted backup, will there be any problems to consider?
1) I expect that, since the password will be stored on my current laptop, there would be a problem reading the password on a new laptop
2) I was told that opening a File Vault 2 encrypted external drive would require the same laptop, as the encryption creates a match of serial numbers between the laptop and the encrypted drive.

Mar 26, 2012I have been using the 'Reading List' as a default Bookmark list as I find it more accessible than the old Bookmark system in Safari. After recently updating Safari my reading list has developed a bug. Firstly my entire list had disappeared (most annoying and inconvenient as I began rely on the list for my continuing study of important references in relation to my business) but I strangely I do get a multiple entry of my last used item. In fact the last time I opened up the list I had about ten duplications of the same bookmark. A recent example is below. My other references (which incidentally, courtesy of iCloud appear on my iPhone bookmarks) have disappeared.

Jul 29, 2008A weird thing is happening with Mail.app. I'm on a PPC Mac with 10.4.11. Every time I go to a folder other than Inbox and then return to the Inbox there is a couple of emails threaded together with the subject line: Fwd: Delivery Notice Status (Failure) If I click on one of these emails, the email is blank including no headers showing up at all. Again, the emails only appear if I go to another mailbox folder and return to the Inbox. They do not appear if I stay in the Inbox.

Oct 15, 2010I am sending out resume's to many different people and they each have very minor adjustments. I thought I could just make a 'draft' and change the receiver's email address etc. but when ever I hit send even if it was saved as a draft it is then gone after the send. Is there a way to make a template so it will send but I will still have it saved in 'draft's after?
