OS X :: Text Messed Up On MacBook Pro
Feb 25, 2009Last night I re installed Leopard (archive and install) in order that I could partition my disk and run boot camp. Everything seemed to work well but now a lot of my text and the names of documents have letters that appear jumbled and out of order. For example spotlight doesn't work as you cant read any of the options and the menu bar is hard to decipher as well. I have attached a few pictures of the problem.

Jun 15, 2010I have had this problem for quite a while now and not just in safari 5. When I have multiple tabs or just one and click it and drag it off the tabs bar to make it become a window everytime i let go it becomes a window but everything is messed up. the edges around the window and the top of it. It looks like it is overlapping or something. This was the last straw for me, not fixing it with 10.6.4. I have no idea if this is a widespread issue, but does anyone know how to fix it?

Jan 26, 2009Somehow I managed to mess up Shapeshifter's display of the Finder. Now, when I open the Finder window, the colours are the default grey and white instead of my set colours. This happened after I installed the latest version of Quicktime. Is there any way to fix Shapeshifter to make it go back to normal? Is there any way to revert to the previous version of Quicktime?

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Cannot Open Finder Window And Finder Preferences Don't Stick
Apr 5, 2012Sometimes I simply cannot open a new finder window. If I use Command-N or if I choose New Finder Window in the Finder menu, nothing happens. If I am using Command-N, I can see the File heading in the Finder menu bar highlighting, and then after a few seconds the highlight goes, but no window opens. Also, clicking on my Downloads icon in the dock, the dialog opens showing all the files, but if I then click on Open in Finder, the dialog closes but nothing happens. Now that I am writing this message, it all works again! That's what I mean by 'sometimes'. This issue can last for tens of minutes. Secndly, and this is still a problem, my finder Preferences do not stick. So for instance, I don't want to see an icon for my hard disk on the desktop, so I untick this in Finder preferences. The icon disappears. If I now re-start, then it comes back. The same happens for removing the empty trash warning and all of the other Finder Preference tick boxes.Â
Now, when the first problem of not being able to open a finder window suddenly stopped being a problem, the icon for the hard disk suddenly appeared on my desktop. So the two issues are linked. This has been going on intermittently for a few days. I have verified my disk, and repaired permissions.

May 22, 2012Wasn't this an option previous to 10.7.4? It doesn't work now.When clicking the Finder icon in the Dock, a new Finder window would open? I know about Finder prefs - General - Always open folders in new window but this isn't what I mean.I'd have a Finder window open then want to copy/move something so I clicked on the Finder icon in the dock to get a new window.Every time I clicked the Dock icon, I'd get a new Finder window.

MacBook Pro :: Flickering On Finder Window When Uploading Or Opening?
Dec 10, 2014I got my macbook pro 13in in November so it is brand new.I suffered a fall on the ice with my laptop in my backpack.Back pack first a week ago.I have a shell case for it,but am worried something might have happened internally.
It has been fine up until the past couple days.I began to notice black flickering occurring on my screen.I rebooted and fine.Then today I noticed when uploading things online a strong flickering showed on the finder.So I tried System Preferences > Display and UNCHECK the setting for "Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes".This worked on safari,but I went to open up a file in photoshop and the flickering occurred once more.I'm not sure if when dropped something occured or if just some kind of error.

Dec 1, 2014Ok, so there was this application I've never used but it keeps saying "You do not have permission to use the application "uHD-uninstall-Agent".....and so forth. I click Ok but the pop up keeps popping up and interrupting everything I do. I went to login items to remove it from startup but it still won't stop. This is a school laptop so I cannot control admin.

Apr 7, 2009So I am running Firefox version 3.0.8 and when I go to highlight anything with my mouse (Like moving from left to right while holding down the button on my trackpad which should highlight the text) it highlights, but the whole window for Mozilla Firefox moves too, even if I have the text box in use, it does happen with other programs.

Jul 18, 2010I am Web Design student, and being taught to Design websites with Dreamweaver, creating tables. More and more i read that using Dreamweaver, being a WYSIWYG editor, how its unprofessional, mediocre and a turn off to potential clients, and that more and more fellow Web Designers "look down" on ones who use such programs instead of raw code. I create really nice, graphically pleasing Intranet pages in my home, but am i going about being a web designer all wrong? I do use a mixture of Coda and PageSpinner for quickly editing the date an text, But my whole "Building" and "Designing" is based off Fireworks graphics/buttons and Dreamweaver tables. What do you use? is my "Idea" of Web Designing an Illusion?

Mar 17, 2007I was playing with the maximize button on a Finder window a few days ago and toggling it would yield a different size every time (guess I was amused by that). So it go into a state where the resize corner is out of reach always now. Clicking on the maximize button does not change the size at all and just remains there. I want to be able to resize Finder again. How do I do it? For reference, attached is the screenshot of my desktop with Finder window, so you can see what I mean. I am unable to find a way to get it to a stage where the full window can be shown and I can resize it.

Jun 20, 2010I flashed this card according to pimpmolo instructions. The card boots and functions properly in both osx 10.6.4 and windows. However, I do have issues when playing graphically intense games. It doesn't appear to be a heat issue because a game might run for several hours or 30 seconds. When the card hangs the screen displays the image on the screen when the lock happened with an overlayed checkerboard pattern.
At that point I have to power off the machine. Can someone look at my modified rom that I flashed to double check?

Feb 27, 2009I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.6 (9G55) with Leopard. On a typical work day I'll open Finder to look for pdf files. I'll perform my search for pdf documents and, as expected, all pdf documents that exist on my Mac are listed in Finder. In the Finder dialog box there are headings at the top of the columns that include "Name", "Kind" and "Last Opened". When I single click on any one of the listed pdf documents, the path to that document's location is given at the bottom of the Finder window. Every month I save hundreds of different pdf documents in about 135 different customer file locations.
As a result, I need to be able to add a column heading that orients the results on a file location basis. On my former XP I could add many different headings, including one that simply stated "Filed In" (or something along those lines). By clicking on the heading "Filed In", all of the pdf documents would be grouped and listed by their file location. My question is: Can I add a "Filed In" heading to the search results window of Finder so that I can click on "Filed In" and group search results by the file locations?
