MacBook Pro :: Does The New 2012 Output Only In YPbPr Mode And Not RGB
Jun 16, 2012
I have used a previous 2010 MBP with a third party monitor (Dell 2408wfp) and had no problems. However I'm encountering problems with the new June 2012 MBP because it says that the output signal to the monitor is YPbPr, and not RGB. Previous Macs that I have tried all seemed to be RGB, so I find it peculiar (and frustrating) that this is different. My main problem is that because it's YPbPr, it disables a few of my monitor's on-screen controls for calibration. No problem, I figure, since I can just run the color calibration in System Preferences > Displays > Color. However, I think my OS X has gotten corrupted or something. If I go here, my monitor turns super white (as if the gamma gets thrown out of whack) and doesn't actually show some of the calibration pictures to set brightness/contrast on my monitor. (Typically these show up if you use a 3rd party monitor.) Then, I can go through the process if calibrating and get it as-close-as-possible to what I want, but as soon as I hit the OK button, the settings revert back to some super ugly setting and the calibration I just did gets lost forever. So, at this point I just want to nuke everything and start over. There's a problem though: I don't know how to do this. Previous MBPs have had the install CD that comes with it, and this does not. There's no way to format and reinstall Lion.

i have tried everything, erasin, restoring, everything.. and i dont understand that much about computers too..so how do i reset everything to its factory settings by using the safe mode terminal? please can someone show me the step by step. in need of help really..
when i wake my 13' mbp up from sleep mode, there is no sound, i have to reboot it to get the sound back, does everyone know where the problem is? and how to deal with it?
My sound keeps turning off. When I check the settings, the output device switches randomly between Internal and Digital output. I have no idea where the Digitial Output is coming from and this started about a month again. It switches randomly and then I loose all sound for a few seconds. Sometimes it happens once then stops for a few days, other times it switches back and forth for 5 min. No idea!!!Â
I use an external monitor with my macbook, it's a couple of years old 17" Sony TFT. I connect it to the macbook through a DVI cable into the adaptor, into the mini DVI port on the mac. About 90% of the time I do this, the second display shows the correct graphics but is tinted fluorescent green, however if I play aorund enough with the connection, it goes back to full colours. Is this something a genius could fix, or do you have any recommendations about what to do?
For some reason, I can't get Logic Express 8 to output audio to my Mac's attached speakers. It outputs fine through my M-Audio interface, though, but I'd just like to listen without headphones.
I have a white Macbook, Intel Core Duo 2, 2 Gb Ram. (October 2008) Under Leopard, my volume (audio output is a shame); under bootcamp with Windows XP on the hard drive, volume is almost double: is there any work around on this?
One day I was using my MBP open and external monitor hooked up. Everything was fine until the internet went down suddenly while I was using iChat.
My airport wouldn't see a network and after a couple restarts and a few resets my airport finally connected to my network. Once connected it would only issue a self-assigned IP, which obviously wouldn't work.
I was able to get around this by manually entering in the correct info but the speeds were low at best, usually pausing and stalling every minute.
After frustratingly trying get it to work, I entered clamshell mode because there was no reason at the time to have dual monitors. Once I did, viola, the airport kicked in and started working full force. It's been this way for about a month now.
My laptop is a MacBookPro5,1 with a 2.8 GHz processor and 4 GBs of RAM.
I've read that airports will have serious degradation issues if overheated and while that may be the issue, it doesn't seem to be the case.
I have smcFanControl installed and the MBP seems to be relatively cool to the touch. The fans never seem to be loudly kicking in and I have it raised on a fan powered cooling pad.
I do, though, use pretty much every port on my MBP. External monitor, speakers, both USBs, and firewire 800 are all in use, so maybe this is a resource issue or a very area specific heat issue.
I had it repaired at the mac store and iphoto and imovie are missing, probably along with some other applications. I've tried looking for the install cd for it but I can't find it, now I'm starting to wonder if it even had one. If it doesn't, can I go back to the apple store and have them re-install my programs?
So I just bought my first Mac and I bought it as a open box. When i turned it on the Word was in spanish but everything else in English, and whoever had this laptop before me still has it registered to them (I'm guessing). I need to know how to reset it. I want it to be like i bought it brand new and not have anything that the person before me had on it.
I bought my Mac a little over a month ago and I'm really not impressed with it. I keep seeing the little rainbow wheel all the time. When I try to load a YouTube video the whole machine just stops working and becomes unresponsive for about 4-5 seconds. Also, when flicking between tabs on Safari it intimitantly becomes unresponsive. I don't do any heavy power consuming things on my mac. It's basically just for college and recently all I've been doing is using Safari, Spotify and Bittorent. I don't know what I should do. Whether to take it back to Apple or just deal with it. My old Acer laptop was fine dealing with this sort of stuff so I'm really unsure. I feel quite let down although I am a total apple fanboy. Â
I'm using VNC onto windows PC that has an application requiring me to use the PRTSC to start a recorder , but I can't find a combination of keys for PRTSC. I'm using a MacBookPro 2012 and REALVNC onto a windows 2008 server using a recording package. To start the recorder I need to hit PRTSC - How do this on my Mac so it hits a PRTSC on the remote PC? ? I have a 13" Macbook Pro (mid-2010). I know that the RAM can be upgraded by just adding RAM to it. How about other hardwares like processor, harddrive, or battery? Can I upgrade it through Apple?
I recently just got a new MacBook Pro and I had my Sims 3 game from when it first came out. However, the game isn't being recognized by the computer. The case shows that the game is compatible with Windows and Mac. I heard if you install to Windows you can't install to Mac right?
I am between two laptops, the MBP 15 with retina display and i7 2.7ghz(third generation) and a dell precission m4600 with 2.7(second generation).Same other specs. 8gb ram, ssd, the difference are the gpu, geforce 650M, and the precission has a quadro2000.I will use windows almost the hole time, cause of CAD, and other win programs. But I will be only using 2d cad drawings mainly, so I believe I dont need a quadro. In addition, I want to be able to play some games, like wow or diablo3.So I will need bootcamp. The performance of windows on bootcamp, will be the same as a windows pc native? I read some issues with the wifi, is it true are there other issues? I believe i will have two partition of 512/2 gb for each OS
I want to buy a MacBook Pro (new 2012 model) and am thinking that buying the 13" 750GB 5400-rpm HHD model and then upgrading it to SSD myself will be a far cheaper way to go? Â
I recently purchased a mid-2012 MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2.3 GHz, non-retina) and I have been receiving Kernel Panic error messages. The screen goes black with white text in multiple languages warning me to shut down my computer and the computer freezes. I have called Apple customer service multiple times. We tried multiple things, including wipe the hard drive and reinstall OS X Lion, but I still get Kernel Panics. One thing I did notice in the "send to Apple" report is that it mentions Google Chrome. It seems whenever I do get a Kernel Panic I am using Chrome. Here are the applications I have installed (besides the default Apple ones):Coda 2Final Cut Pro XTwitterGoogle Chrome Right now, as suggested by the second Apple associate, I uninstalled Google Chrome, to see if that was the cause. She says that it could be related to that or from a software update (which I doubt considering I have yet to install any updates since I reinstalled Lion).Â
I purchased the Toshiba Dynadock U3 - which ran well with Win 7- hoping there would be drivers for the Mac OS. Anyone have any ideas how I can accomplish this configuration? If not, then what is the next best configuration where I do not have to keep connecting and disconnecting wires fron my MBA. Just want to connect one wire (e.g. - USB cable) that that's it. Is this wishful thinking?Â

Is the port layout on the new Macbook Pro (June 2012) the same as the late 2011 version? i.e. will the new Macbook Pro be compatible with a byte-dock docking station?
I have been using the same exact setup with the 2011 MBA but the new one won't work with my projector. I have a Acer X1161P 3D-DLP Projector and the proper cables since this has previously been working. I saw that in the first update there was something about external monitors.Â

My Macbook Air 2012 is showing CPU temps of over 100 degrees celcius when encoding video/playing games. This seems like it's WAY too hot.. is it normal?
Upgraded the 750GB Toshiba HD to a 512GB Crucial SSD and wow what a performance difference. I also have a 15" Retina to compare it against and the 13 read/write access if faster than the quad core retina. Sure the quad will be better with alot of simultaneous programs running but one off or two programs the 13 with the HD update outperformed.Â
On the 13" my startup time was 42-45 seconds after the apple logo appeared. Now with the SSD, 8 seconds. The program launching and performance improved 50%+. I would recommend updating to SSD if you are able.Â
