View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some issue with my 2012 Macbook Pro Retina. The screen intermittently decides to just not work. Sometimes on startup i hear the start up noise but the screen doesn't turn on. I am able to remote into the computer when the screen doesn't work. I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason as to when it works and when it doesn't. I've reset the PRAM and SMC sometimes that will bring the screen back sometimes not. Â

I have heard that both Parallels and BootCamp are good programs to run Windows on a Mac. But, I have recently found out that there is also something called Fusion that also works. Which is better? Parallels,BootCamp, or Fusion? My guess is that Parallels works the best. At least that's my opinion just from browsing around and comparing the differences. As I don't even own a Mac (January 2008).

But then if I want to run parallels with windows I will need two licences of windows? Is this true.
I'm also confused if I can do that .... Use boot camp for windows games, but then use parallels for documents and low spec items. Please help, I'm getting my new iMac very soon and I'm very worried.
Is there an obvious winner between VMWare 2 and Parallels 4 in SL, or does it still come down to a preference issue?

Im not a whiz on networking but how does this work. Im sure it dosnt just work like the MB does in regards to picking up the WiFi signal...
View 21 Replies View RelatedI'm running the latest version of Parallels 5.0 and Windows 7. When I plug the headset in it asks me whether I want to plug it into Mac OS or Virtual Machine. I've tried both but for some reason it doesn't seem to work! Only the headphones will work, yet the mic won't - consequently it will automatically use the built-in mic of my MBP. However, my headset works just fine in VMWare. How could I make the headset's mic work in Parallels too?
View 1 Replies View RelatedUntil now I've had a PC with Windows 7 given by my office with VirtualBox and OS X installed.As of 3rd Jan I'll be working in another department where I'll be 1) free to do what I want with my hardware as long as it's not pirated software and 2) more than happy to work in OS X which I've been working on for all my life.So now I'm hesitating between:- keeping my quite new and good HP PC, format it and install OS X on it. Then install Parallels with my Win7 license to use some of the rare softs I will still need to use in Win only (with my old job most of the apps were Win only).

i'm abit ocd with stuff on my computer, so stuff like this really bothers me. i had parallels one my computer for a little while whilst i needed windows. now i don't i got rid of the partition and uninstalled parallels. but, .exe files and some other files still show the parallels logo, as if it wants to open them in parallels.
is there any way i can change this? i've removed everything i can think of in preferences, application support, startup items, receipts, etc to do with parallels but to no avail.
I have Parallels 3 installed, mostly to run MS Money. Last night I installed Snow Leopard, unaware that Parallels 3 is not compatible. It appears that I need to go out and buy Parallels 4 as that will work with Snow Leopard.
My question is will all my data within Windows remain if I install 4 or will it be a completely new Windows? And if so, how do I go in and retrieve my MS Money data as I can no longer access it with Parallels 3.
I was able to get Windows Vista 64 running on my 17" MBP, it is pretty slick. I set aside 32 GB for Windows, ran the install, loaded all the appropriate Boot Camp drivers and everything is working perfectly in Windows. I boot back to OS X to attempt to configure Parallels...
So I fired up Parallels and follow the guided instructions. However, when I get to step 2 Im not sure what I should be doing. I already have Windows on its own partition, but Parallels is asking me for a CD/DVD image. Im a little leery of putting the Win disc back in, I dont want Parallels to always want to boot from the disc. how do I tell Parallels to load Windows as a Virtual Machine off of the Boot Camp partition?
The partition Boot Camp created now appears on my Desktop in OS X as Untitled, I can not, for the life of me, figure out how to change that. If I eject that volume will I still be able to Boot to Windows? Will Parallel still work?
I was planning on installing Win7 on it and using Parallels for the times I have no Mac option (specific games or apps).

I had it repaired at the mac store and iphoto and imovie are missing, probably along with some other applications. I've tried looking for the install cd for it but I can't find it, now I'm starting to wonder if it even had one. If it doesn't, can I go back to the apple store and have them re-install my programs?

So I just bought my first Mac and I bought it as a open box. When i turned it on the Word was in spanish but everything else in English, and whoever had this laptop before me still has it registered to them (I'm guessing). I need to know how to reset it. I bought my Mac a little over a month ago and I'm really not impressed with it. I keep seeing the little rainbow wheel all the time. When I try to load a YouTube video the whole machine just stops working and becomes unresponsive for about 4-5 seconds. Also, when flicking between tabs on Safari it intimitantly becomes unresponsive. I don't do any heavy power consuming things on my mac. It's basically just for college and recently all I've been doing is using Safari, Spotify and Bittorent. I don't know what I should do. Whether to take it back to Apple or just deal with it. My old Acer laptop was fine dealing with this sort of stuff so I'm really unsure. I feel quite let down although I am a total apple fanboy. Â

I'm using VNC onto windows PC that has an application requiring me to use the PRTSC to start a recorder , but I can't find a combination of keys for PRTSC.
