MacBook Pro :: DVI Dongle Not Working But VGA Does
Feb 26, 2012
NVidia 9400M with updated drivers. DVI dongle works inconsistently (more often not) but VGA dongle works perfectly on 17" Unibody i7 Arrandale with NVidia 9400M. Can anyone explain this or advise a fix? There was no software changes I can think of that would have caused this. Could I have inadvertantly damaged the video pins for DVI but not VGA or do they share? I have not tried reformatting and reinstalling the OS. I am running W7 x64.
I have a iBook, possibly G3, Model No. A1005. I was wondering if I could get hold of a WiFi Dongle for this machine? It is sat here idle at the moment and I don't want to buy a charger if it isn't possible.
am in the market for a usb internet dongle for my mba, just wondering what one's fit as most do not.I am looking at the 3 pay as you use - Huawei E160G stick, do any of you know if this fits?
I'm interested in purchasing a new MacBook Pro. I will need to run Windows onboard in order to utiize some GPS processing software that I use in my line of work. My question is, is there a USB cable adapter available that will allow me to plug in a software dongle to a DB25 female port? I will need this option in order to run this software license for my GPS/GIS software. This is the only roadblock to my purchasing a MacBook.
I'm considering either the MiFi or a 3G USB dongle. Both have their pros and cons of course, but the USB dongle is appealing because it's one less device to charge.
I am trying to setup a Vodacom 3565-z Internet dongle on my girlfriend's Macbook Pro. She is currently in Tanzania, so I am trying to help her over the phone. It is a K3565-z Vodacom Internet dongle, and it has worked perfectly fine for the last 2 months. Now it suddenly stopped working and she un-installed the software used for logging on in her attempt to fix the problem. There are only Windows files on the USB stick now, and no internet connection. If she goes to the Network settings she can see the modem.
I've been so unlucky that the bluetooth on my macbook unibody, has been destroyed, was down at the nearest Apple Store here in Norway, it will take about 1 to 2 weeks, they have to order the bluetooth. so they would have my macbook there until they got the part, to repair it.
And I can not live without macbook, and there is no question of me to sit here with a Windows or Linux computer, so I now use a Bluetooth dongle, but it sticks so far out from the macbook, anyone know of a bluetooth dongle that is nano size sticking 2 mm from the macbook?
I have a macbook pro 17, I couldn't really wait for what might or might not come out next year, as there was an urgent need for it. I am interested in getting some mobile internet, and was wondering, would you seasoned pro's go for a usb dongle or express card slot option?
Does the apple thunderbolt to ethernet dongle support promiscuous mode ? I need to use the new Retina MBP as a professional laptop for work, and I need to use Etherreal. Etherreal needs the Ethernet card/dongle/chip to run in Promiscuous mode. I have heard that unblivably the thunderbolt Ethernet dongle does not support this, if so then the laptop will not pick all the packets on the wire. is this true ?

can I use any bluetooth usb dongle with my G4 (which only has usb1)? I've seen some advertised for less than 5 uk pounds, and the D-Link ones, which it refers to in the bluetooth help file, for I believe over 20.
I have a G5 Mac Pro tower vintage somewhere around 2004-5 and I need to be able to access a WiFi hot spot. Will a usb adapter do the trick and if so what is good one? I understand it is too dificult to install an Airport Extreme card unless done by a technician.
Recently bought an external hard drive so i could use time machine. Was looking at making it wireless by using a Bluetooth dongle to connect to it. However most usb dongle only seem to be compatible with vista.
Also thinking about getting a sony hifi with a usb port. Could i use a A2DP bluetooth connection to connect to this.
My iBook did not come with a Bluetooth built in module and was wondering if I purchased a USB dongle that it would work with a BT headset and a mighty mouse? Also use it for file transfers etc. I usually have to unplug the wireless usb hp mouse in lieu of my iPhone to charged when I'm on world of warcraft.
I Have a software installed on Power Mac G4 running Mac OS 9, this software is using a key installed on a usb dongle to launch. Now the software doesn't recongnize this usb dongle being plugged, although the MAC OS does! I have tried to reinstall the software, reinstall the OS without success , the problem persists. Does anyone pleaze have an idea where the problem could be or any useful information.
I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard that I want to share between a PC and MBP via a DVI/USB KVM switch. I think I can do this by plugging a USB Bluetooth dongle into the KVM's USB input.
If I use the MBP's built-in bluetooth then when I switch from one computer to the other via the KVM, the keyboard and mouse will stay paired with the MBP; but if I disable the built-in hardware then the dongle can provide the bluetooth capability and be switched between the computers.
I would like to get a USB wireless N dongle for my old PC, easy enough to do I was going to go with a Linksys WUSB600N but then realized I might as well get something that is Mac compatible so I can sometimes use it on my old PowerBook. After doing some research I found out that newer TrendNet dongles and some D-Link dongles are Mac compatible. I don't know about TrendNet because they always seemed a little cheap, I've used D-Link routers before and they're ok but the dongles compatibility with Macs seems to depend on the hardware revision. Are there any other brands who make Mac compatible wireless N USB dongles?
,I would like to know,if I buy a Bluetooth Dongle (macos X compatible of course) I could plug it in my ibook g3 and use for example apple bluetooth keyboard.keep in mind that Ibook G3 has usb 1.1 not 2.0.if it was an "ordinary" windows pc I would say yes,but as it is a mac I am not sure..
I'll soon be moving to a place that has a wireless router, but not anywhere close enough to where my computers will be to have a hardwire connection. So, if my blackbook is connected wirelessly, is there any way to share that connection with a PC that will be near it (used for games)? Something like connecting the ethernet ports on the blackbook and the PC with a length of CAT5 cable? Or will I have to bite the bullet and buy a wireless card/usb dongle for my PC?
I currently need to replace my mobile broadband and dongle as my existing one with Virgin media in a pain in the ass. From day one it has never worked and I have to constantly work around the software to get it to work on my Mac Book Pro.So my question is, can anyone recommend a mobile broadband provider which will allow a dongle to be plugged into my Mac Book Pro running Snow Leopard without ay issues at all.

I'm yet to figure out a pattern, but my Macbook Pro's keyboard will just stop working for several minutes at a time at random points in time...Even if I hit caps or num lock, they don't turn green. Sometimes it'll just happen once every few hours, but I was in class the other day and it would work for a minute, then not work for a few, than work for another minute, etc.
F3 and my right shift key have suddenly become play/pause keys in addition to their original functions. My F8 doesn't really do anything anymore and does not even light up in Keyboard View. I've tried to use Sizzling Keys, and reset Keyboard Shortcuts but the problem still persists. It seems to affect most music playing programs (iTunes and Vox. I have a Macbook Model 5,2 and Mac OS X 10.5.8
