Apr 1, 2009I would like to get a USB wireless N dongle for my old PC, easy enough to do I was going to go with a Linksys WUSB600N but then realized I might as well get something that is Mac compatible so I can sometimes use it on my old PowerBook. After doing some research I found out that newer TrendNet dongles and some D-Link dongles are Mac compatible. I don't know about TrendNet because they always seemed a little cheap, I've used D-Link routers before and they're ok but the dongles compatibility with Macs seems to depend on the hardware revision. Are there any other brands who make Mac compatible wireless N USB dongles?

Jul 20, 2009I'll soon be moving to a place that has a wireless router, but not anywhere close enough to where my computers will be to have a hardwire connection. So, if my blackbook is connected wirelessly, is there any way to share that connection with a PC that will be near it (used for games)? Something like connecting the ethernet ports on the blackbook and the PC with a length of CAT5 cable? Or will I have to bite the bullet and buy a wireless card/usb dongle for my PC?

Feb 26, 2012NVidia 9400M with updated drivers. DVI dongle works inconsistently (more often not) but VGA dongle works perfectly on 17" Unibody i7 Arrandale with NVidia 9400M. Can anyone explain this or advise a fix? There was no software changes I can think of that would have caused this. Could I have inadvertantly damaged the video pins for DVI but not VGA or do they share? I have not tried reformatting and reinstalling the OS. I am running W7 x64.

She is currently in Tanzania, so I am trying to help her over the phone.It is a K3565-z Vodacom Internet dongle, and it has worked perfectly fine for the last 2 months. Now it suddenly stopped working and she un-installed the software used for logging on in her attempt to fix the problem. There are only Windows files on the USB stick now, and no internet connection.If she goes to the Network settings she can see the modem.

Feb 28, 2010 I've been so unlucky that the bluetooth on my macbook unibody, has been destroyed, was down at the nearest Apple Store here in Norway, it will take about 1 to 2 weeks, they have to order the bluetooth. so they would have my macbook there until they got the part, to repair it.

Mar 4, 2008I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard that I want to share between a PC and MBP via a DVI/USB KVM switch. I think I can do this by plugging a USB Bluetooth dongle into the KVM's USB input.
If I use the MBP's built-in bluetooth then when I switch from one computer to the other via the KVM, the keyboard and mouse will stay paired with the MBP; but if I disable the built-in hardware then the dongle can provide the bluetooth capability and be switched between the computers.

Hardware :: Time Capsule Join Wireless Network/Will All Traffic Go Mac Wireless Router
Jan 5, 2011I have just got my 1Tb time capsule and there are a lot of confusing descriptions of how to connect it.
At the moment I have just selected "join existing wireless network" which is a ADSL 2.4ghz G Router that came with my internet package (Thompson TG585 v7).
Does this mean that all traffic goes via the ADSL Router and that I will not be using the 5ghz band when I back up so that all the data will follow a path like this and have slow data rates? :
MAC --2.4ghz--> ADSL Router --2.4ghz--> TC
or will I be communicating directly with the TC at 5ghz for backups and data transfer and 2.4ghz with the ADSL router for internet like this? :
MAC --5ghz--> TC
ADSL Router --2.4ghz--> MAC
If this is not a good setup, what setup would allow me to get the full speed to the time capsule and be connected to the internet.
Hardware :: Extended Wireless Network - Multiple Airport Express Wireless Setup
May 14, 2009I'm working in a home/home-office environment right now which was setup by someone else and I've noticed some odd network behavior when moving about the property. Looking at the setup, the relevant portion is: Cable modem - Airport Extreme - 10 port wired switch - 3x Airport Express in different areas of the house. The configuration of each device has the Extreme and all three Express devices set to "create a wireless network" with the network name the same for all four of them. I am not a networking expert but I would have thought that the Extreme should be set to be the "master" in a WDS network and the Express should each be set to participate in that WDS network. If they're all hosting their own wireless network with the same name and the coverage overlaps, how does a PC know which one it's using? Or maybe this doesn't matter. I just know that when we move from one room to another we frequently have to re-select the wireless network to establish connectivity.
