Feb 6, 2008First made an image of the x64 Vista and copied it over the network to my Macbook Air folder. Second installed bootcamp and created a partition without installing Vista.Third I copied the files from the ISO onto the new partition.Fourth I installed rEFIt and shut down and re-powered on the MBA.Fifth I chose from rEFIt the second windows icon, "Boot bootcdboot.efi from BOOTCAMP". (I skip over "Boot bootmgr.efi from BOOTCAMP" which doesn't work.)Sixth see the "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" screen. I press a key.Seventh I see the "Windows is loading files..." completion bar progress all the way to the end. It gets to the last character and the machine stops.

Jan 4, 2010I currently have XP installed on a Bootcamp partition on my main iMac hard drive. I've got a new external USB 2.0 SATA hard drive enclosure on the way that I plan to install a couple of spare SATA drives into. I was wondering about somehow moving my current Bootcamp partition off the main iMac drive and onto the spare WD Raptor drive that I've got without having to reinstall everything all over again. My second question would be - if I am able to switch the Bootcamp partition location, would the USB 2.0 transfer speed be fast enough for when I run windows? I typically use Windows for gaming only and very little else.

Mar 23, 2009I have a new imac (love it!) and have installed vista on a 32Gb partition using Boot Camp. I was planning on saving files I create in vista on the external Hard drive. But I can't see it when I'm in Vista so can not save files to it. It is a terrabyte disk and is used by Time machine. Is there anyway I can save to it or should I add another external HD just for windows, I can see it when I go to system hard ware (it says seagate HD etc but there is no info on files sizes etc-there is a button which says populate but I dare not press it as I'm scared it will screw up my back ups) Another irritation is that when I reboot back to mac it throws out the internet and I have to reset the modem and router so it works again.

May 11, 2010I have got my new uMBP i7. It is gorgeous, super happy with it . Because I need to run several programs under Windows XP, I have installed Windows XP under Bootcamp. I used Winclone to migrate bootcamp partition from my old MBP to the i7.My problem is that when I linked my external monitor (20 inch ViewSonic) to uMBP using the Minidisplay-to-DIV adaptor from Apple, there is no display on my external monitor. I can set the external monitor as extension of main monitor under "Setting", but after the windows Ding/Done sound, there is nothing on my external monitor. Does anyone have experiences about fixing this problem?

Jul 27, 2009I have an aluminum unibody macbook from October 2008. I'm looking to upgrade the 160 GB hard drive inside to a 500 GB one I'm considering from Newegg. Would it be possible to migrate/copy/clone the entire contents of my current hard drive to the 500 GB one? I also have a section of my current hard drive partitioned for Bootcamp. Would this affect my ability to transfer everything over?
If this is possible at all, how can I go about doing so? If there are steps laid out somewhere, I'd appreciate a referral. Sorry if my question is a little elementary, but I did a search on these forums and also google and nothing really came up

Jan 22, 2009I've got a 2.4GHZ white non-aluminum Macbook. I was attempting to install Windows XP through the Bootcamp assistant but ran into some major problems. When XP asked me to format the 150GB partition (even though I only created a 10GB Windows partition in Boot Camp), I clicked yes. (just wasn't paying attention I guess) and now I have a non-bootable, 150GB NTFS drive in my macbook. Attempting to boot just gives me a great picture of a folder with a blinking question mark. I booted off the DVD to wipe and reload, but Disk Utility won't let me erase or repartition the disk. It sees the disk but everything is greyed out.

Jul 19, 2009I have a Macbook (about a year and a half old) with 250 G hard drive which is partitioned in half. One half has Mac Os (leopard) and the other bootcamp partition is Windoze xp. I use both equally. I am planning to get a 500-750 G 2.5 inch hard drive and clone my entire hard drive to it so I will have more room (and also a good backup if the need ever arises). Since my drive has BOTH the Mac os and the bootcamp partiton with windoze on it, I need to clone them both over to the new drive. I believe superduper just clones the OS portion and I really don't want to re-install the windows stuff unless i have to! I read that winclone can clone the windoze partitian. SO THIS IS MY PLAN. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS WILL WORK. Is this right? Did I leave anything out? Is there a better way?
1. Get new larger drive and put in a separate powered enclosure
2. Connect to my macbook with usb connector
3. Use superduper to clone the Mac Os to the new drive.
4. Use Winclone to clone the bootcamp (windoze) partition to the new drive
5. Replace the old smaller drive with the new drive.
I think this would work, but am not sure how or when i have to partition the new drive to work with winclone. or does winclone do this automatically?
