hey guys, i'm leaning towards buying the 27 i7 imac, but i'm hesitant because I want to make sure that i'll be able to watch blu rays on it. As far as I understand, the simplest way to do this is via an external blu ray drive and windows bootcamp. If I buy this, will I be able to watch blu rays seamlessly (i.e. w/ smooth frame rates, solid picture, etc)?
View 5 RepliesMy IMac seems to be lagging when I play videos of movies or soap operas that I downloaded online. What do you think the cause of this could be? I play the videos in VLC, and I should be having a lag free smooth video play back right? I think I am still within the 14 day period, should I call apple and request a replacement? Also my HDD is always running at a constant 59 ~ 60 c when just watching videos / movies is this within normal temperatures?

In other words... I have moved my music library to the external hard drive, as per an earlier thread I read here on the forums. It worked like quite well. Now that it is working perfectly, I am having a hard time leaving well enough alone. It is never a good idea for me to think too much...Can itunes be installed and run on/from an external hard drive? Recently got married and while we were hanging out with our friends they stuck each of their camera memory cards into our mac and transferred all the videos and pics on to the computer. Now I'm home and I want to transfer all those pics/videos on to our external hard drive. I've tried everything! I've tried exporting...I've tried dragging the pics. Nothing will work. The weird thing is, I'm able to move pics from the HD over to my computer but not vice versa.

It sounds like Time Machine will write over old files to keep more recent updates. I've been having this problem for a while now and its only with images and videos when i try to open any picture or video this msg comes up "The file couldn’t be opened because there is no such file" and i can only open it if i copied the file from my hard drive to my computer.when i open the info for the same picture (one in on the hard drive and one my computer) the one on the hard drive has nothing under "more info" while the one on my computer has a lot of details under "more info" .

Bought an iMac 3.1 ghz i5 Core (16gb memory). First got it, Adobe TV (tv.adobe.com) worked fine. Great! Then something happened and I'm sure it has something to do with an installation of software. My running bet is on the VirusBarrier. Other suggestions said: (1) Delete Flash Player, clear cache, restart, reinstall FP, delete video files cached via the FP preferences. (2) Another said right click on video window, set the FP settings to allow storage on computer, and another said to deselect hardware acceleration.
And to throw in another point, I have a MacBook Pro 17 (i5 Core) running beside me that has the ability to play the Adobe TV videos with no problem. Are there any other suggestions someone else may have? Firewalls? Turned off and then on. Nothing. Flash Player? Installed and all other flash media sites work fine. So it has something to do with the streaming I'm guessing?
First made an image of the x64 Vista and copied it over the network to my Macbook Air folder. Second installed bootcamp and created a partition without installing Vista.Third I copied the files from the ISO onto the new partition.Fourth I installed rEFIt and shut down and re-powered on the MBA.Fifth I chose from rEFIt the second windows icon, "Boot bootcdboot.efi from BOOTCAMP". (I skip over "Boot bootmgr.efi from BOOTCAMP" which doesn't work.)Sixth see the "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" screen. I press a key.Seventh I see the "Windows is loading files..." completion bar progress all the way to the end. It gets to the last character and the machine stops.
