I have an airport base station that was setup and working properly in my home office. I change locations within my home and now it will not work correctly. Literally, all I did was unplug and plug everything back in. The internet connection is working fine. I plugged it directly into the computer and it works.
I got frustrated and reset it back to factory defaults and reinstalled it and now it still doesn't work.
I can get the internet to work through the ethernet port, if I set the ip to 10.0.1.1
However, I cannot get the airport to work at all. I did notice that the ip when it sets it automatically, was a 169 ip.

I just came home from a 4 day vacation and noticed that my wifi was down. Upon inspection i found that the light on my Airport Express is flashing green rapidly (3-4 flashes/second - much faster than the flashing when starting up).
I cannot find the Airport with Airport Utility and I have tried both a hard reset and a factory reset with no luck - it just keeps flashing.
Is there anything I can do or is it dead?

I am about to buy a computer and just been doing some research. When I went to best buy and ran a geekbench score on the imac it was like around 5800.
A seller on ebay who is selling a Mac Pro 3.0 ghz just ran the score and posted the results of 6214
[URL]
Based off of this score alone wouldn't it mean that the 2007 Mac Pro is faster than the newer 2010 imac

I am trying to decide whether to get the 2010 model or the cheaper 2009 model. These are the differences that I've found so far for the base model. For arguments sake, let's say they both have 4gb ram (most people selling them have upgraded to 4gb)
2010: 2.4ghz, longer battery, nvidia 320m
2009: 2.26ghz, (slightly) shorter battery, nvidia 9400m
Having a slightly slower cpu, less battery life (about 7 hours rather than 9) and a slightly weaker gpu don't bother me so much, as I will be mostly using the macbook pro for internet surfing and writing word documents
My question is, are there any other differences? (that would make me go for the 2010 rather than the 2009 model) - maybe differences in the display? shape? something else?

i am contemplating buying a late 2008 mbp air i found for $800 on CL. it has the 1.86 ghz 2gig ram and an 128 gb ssd. would that be comparable to the new 2010 version? i know the new one will edge it out, but by how much? i do a lot of art using flash, illustrator, and ps but just want to use this machine occasionally when i travel, ill have another machine for the heavy lifting if needed be. is that a good deal? or should i just wait and get the 2010 version which is double that?

PC World (in the UK) are selling the old 2.66GHz 15" model for 1,149 (rather than 1,499 for the new model).
The differences between it and the new model are summarised below (as I understand them)
Battery: Old: 5hr, New:7hr non-swappable
Display: New: Better colour gamut (apparently?)
Processor: Old: 6MB cache, New: 3MB cache
Card bay: Old: Express34, New: SD
Of the above only the battery life is of any relevance to me (unless the display quality is really that different?). The SD card would be marginally more useful than the Express card.

I've been contemplating recently (as most mac users do) about switching my 2 year old MBP (2.2 ghz, 2gb ram, 8600m) to the new MBP (15" 2.8, newer gfx, touchpad and a few minor details).
I've been eying the ebay prices for some time and my particular model (with charger, snow leopard, original accessories but w/o box) is valued at about 700gbp. Perhaps people might disagree with me here - how much is it really worth ?
My main point / question is really at what point should I ditch the existing MBP in favor of the new mbp - does it really offer me that much of a benefit at this time to upgrade? I'd sure like the new graphics card in there (is it really that much better?) but I'm not sure there's a significant enough difference there.
On the other hand if I wait much longer the MBP will become pretty devalued and not get me much back for the new and improved MBP - maybe apple's going to improve them soon anyway?

I bought an airport express about 2 months ago, it was working perfectly until today when it stopped working all of a sudden. It doesn't appear in my wireless networks list and it doesn't appear in airport utility either.
The light is constantly amber, never flashing and it only turns green for a second after turning it on, then goes back to amber.
I tried to do a hard reset but it doesn't flash the 4 green lights. It just flashes amber for about 15 seconds and then the light turns off completely until I let go the reset button, then it goes back to the constant amber... really strange.

I am trying to decide which of these two 27 inch imacs I should buy:
27 inch 3.06 core 2 duo model
27 inch 3.2 I3 model
Is the 27 inch 3.2 ghz I3 model a better value in terms of increased computer and graphics performance and is it better to get the 2nd generation model because of prior issues (i.e. yellow tinge)?

I got my 13" Unibody stolen a couple of weeks ago. It was in my Targus bag so I still have the software for it at home. I bought the Unibody refurbed and it came with 2 discs, one that says, "MacBook Mac OS X Install DVD...Replacement DVD.." and the second disc, "MacBook Applications Install DVD...Replacement DVD". I used them on my Unibody before it was stolen to do a clean install, basically the first disc is Leopard and the second is iLife 08. What I am wondering is are the discs tied to my particular Macbook model or can I use them to install onto other Macs say such as my moms iMac? Or are they basically garbage now?

I assume the DVI out on the 2007 MacBook Pro (model identifier 3,1) is a nonstandard DVI and requires a DVI-to-DVI adapter? It looks like a fullsize connector that I could attach with a standard DVI, but I thought I needed a 30.00 adapter, is this true?

I'm just wondering why there is no option for 13" 1.86/128 to 2.13/128. Only 256 SSD model can be upgraded to 2.13. Apple thinks that they just don't want same option as rev c.? I think that's not fair to who just want only 128SSD for 2.13Ghz. 256SSD would great for everybody but I'm just the one who save extra $300.

I've been considering buying one of the new Radeon video card kits and throwing it in my 2006 Mac Pro. I would prefer the 5870 but for the most part, the opinion online is that it wouldn't work. However, I came across this link: [URL:...] So what gives? How did barefeats pull it off? Could it have been using the boot drive really played such a role? I kept reading it couldn't be done due to the lack of EFI64.

Well I rushed off and bought the Mac Pro as soon as it was announced at the local Mac store to where I was - and also bought the internal wireless card. They didn't fit it at the store, but as I was shipping it anyhow to the UK, I didn't care much. When home, I installed the card - just two screws, and thought everything was fine - Leopard found it and the function is available - but I'm getting no signal from it. It looks very much like I have no antenna attached, though there was no antenna needed when installing (I assumed the antenna worked through the two screws holding the card in place). Anyone got any ideas what the problem is (apart from dragging it to a Apple store).

I've been shopping around for a new Mac Pro but with the likelihood of new models coming out in just a few months, I can't justify spending all of that money now. My new plan is to buy a refurb and then sell it when the new upgrades are out. I have two questions:
1) How well do Macs hold their value? Can I expect to get most of my money back if selling in a few months?
2) How hard is it to migrate all of my files, preferences, etc. from one Mac to another? I wouldn't want to spend ages transferring everything from the refurb to the '09 model.

Ok, here's the deal. I just bought a 2.4 15'' MacBook Pro Unibody. I tried to wipe the drive and do a clean install from the system software installation disc that came with the computer. Three tries, failed each time. "Faulty disc" is what it said.
Well, I had to get a project done, so I borrowed same system software installation disc from a friend who bought the exact same computer on the same day. The disc worked fine! Leopard up and runnin'!
But I still called Apple to get a replacement disc. They said they did not recommend using another computer's disc to install. Well I'm thinking "dude, it's the same exact computer! So it must be the same disc?"
Anyone have experience with this? Should I wipe and reinstall AGAIN (NOOO!) after I get my disc. After a few days, it's been working just fine as is.

I'm need to upgrade my existing Mac, and although if I was wealthy I'd go for a used Mac Pro, or if I was extremely wealthy, a new one, it occurred to me that the new Mac Mini might be an option.
Presumably its 2GHz Core 2 Duo would be significantly faster than my existing Dual 1.25GHz G4 processors, I could spec it either to come with 2 or 4 GB of RAM, and according to this page it can support my existing 23" Cinema Display (1920x1200) with an adaptor, and even a 30" Cinema Display at some point in the future (2560x1600).
