That just makes me laugh, no body owning a 13" Apple laptop can have it all ehh.
I am now glad that i bought my unibody before the upgrade because I don't want to go out and spend $150+ on an audio device just to record a few tunes from my guitar.
Wow, I do love the new MBP, but can't apple just give it all to the 13" customers?

View 39 Replies View RelatedI currently have my second MBP that I got from Macmall and both in a matter of two weeks have had similar issues. The first I managed to get returned and replaced, that is a seperate and complicated story in and of itself. This particular issue started with a boot up sequence that was taking about 5-6 mins. After going through the drill with Applecare thought I could restore using Time Machine. That's when I found out that the FW400 port no longer worked to power my Oyen Digital 250G FW drive. Any thoughts as to what might be the problem? This is my second MBP and Oyen Digital FW drive. I had them both replaced!
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have audio that is being sent to my MBP through an audio in line that I would like to monitor for audio quality. The only way I know how to listen in real time to the audio is by way of Audio Recorder, but it seems a little unnecessary to have a recording application open simply to listen to my media that is being sent in. Is there a feature already part of OS X that allows me to turn this on? I looked in system prefs, but couldn't find anything to enable this. I will resort to audio recorder if I have to, but would be very happy if this was already a feature.

This headphone/headset that is equipped with a mic does not work properly when I connect it to the audio input opening. The headphone/headset is only equipped with one plug (is this the proper term?).
When I adjust the audio setting (apple icon--> System Preferences --> Sound --> select "Input" tab --> highlight " Line in; Audio line-in port") I can only hear sounds through the headphone but the mic portion does not pic up. If I hit the mic portion I see the bars move, that would indicate some sound being picked up. However, when I try to use the mic, through Mac Office Powerpoint 2010, the sound (if received through the mic) does not pick up.
Why is this happening? Do I need some extra external component for the microphone part of the headset to work or do something extra in the System Preference area?

I recently had a cracked panel on an old Macbook Pro 15 inch (A1260) and just replaced it with a new one. Ever since i replaced it i have had no sound. Now i consider myself an experienced mac user so i have checked under my sound prefences and it doesnt list anything under sound input or output and things are grayed out. I also had the guy who replaced my panel, who is also my friend, check everything out and he hasn't been able to figure out why there is no sound. he gave me a usb midi device that shows up and works but when unplugged theres nothing.
Another thing that has started is, video online will stop every 11 seconds, and thats with me clicking on the bar when it stops playing after the first 11 seconds.

I'm trying to plug in and use an external microphone to record a screen capture. Sound gets through the headphones great but, looking at Input Sound in the Sys Pref, the Line In device does not pick up any sound when I speak into the mic. If I switch it back to the Built-In Internal Microphone device it picks up my voice fine. In the Audio MIDI Setup, the Built-in Input device is selected as the device to be used for sound input.There is a switch on my headset to mute or unmute the mic and I've tried it in both positions. There is a volume dial on my headset (presumably for the headphones) and I've fiddled with that too. I've moved the Input volume for the Line In Audio Line-in port device all the way up and still it hasn't picked up a thing. I have a Mac os x Lion on a Macbook Pro and using a 3.5 mm mini-jack headset with two cables, one for the headphones and one for the microphone.

There seems to be a headphone level control on the left which sort of works (its continuous so you never know where you are in its range) and a "Level Controller" on the right which doesn't do anything to the sound yet it controls the sound bar in Sys Prefs/Sound. I downloaded the 10.4.11 driver from M-Audio.

I've been having a lot of problems with heat in relation to my firewire audio interface on my MacBook.Initially I thought it was my external monitor that was the main problem. Well, it does add some heat. The temperature raises about 5-6 degrees celcius and the fan speeds up to 2400rpm when idling. This I can live with.However, when connecting my firewire audio interface the heat and fan speed becomes unacceptable. The heat raises about 10 degrees, and the fan speeds up to about 5500rpm. After about half an hour of regular use, like browsing, the temperature goes up even more (as expected) and the fan starts blowing at full speed. And this by just browsing the web.

There's a thread in the macbook pro forum about this (that I bumped) but I didn't realize it was the wrong forum so I'll post here too.Whenever I plug Firewire audio interface into my macbook , even with no programs running and the computer essentially at idle, the CPU temperature quickly rises several degrees and then the fan quickly ramps up to maximum. I have a mac mini (solo intel) 10.4 OSX. I have no audio output when attaching an external input source like a CD player or ipod to the input jack on my Mac Mini. Audio output from ITunes or movies clips in IPhoto works fine. I have checked the cables and connections. I have checked the "sound" location in System Preferences to make sure the "built in output" source is selected. The input volume display shows that the audio input is being registered. I have checked "system profiler" in the Utilities folder in Applications to make sure the "built in output" AKA headphone outlet is recognized.
I have the "Soundflower" App. installed but turned off.
why the audio output from the internal sources like ITunes and IPhoto music clips work but the audio output from an external input source does not? Is there some software or a driver required for audio output from an external source that is not required for audio output from an internal source?
I have an older Yamaha receiver (RX 596) that has no optical audio in, only traditional RCA inputs. I tried using a 3.5 mm mini audio to RCA adapter that would transfer my headphone output to the CD or AUX input on the receiver. Of course the audio was crap, lots of humming and low volume level.
I also have a Canopus ADVC 110 digitizer. Can I input digital audio from the MP to the ADVC 110 with an optical to RCA converter, and then output the analog audio from the ADVC 110 with RCA cables to the RCA inputs on the Yamaha? - I tried a Metric Halo ULN 2 which loses sync with it's audio. It will be fine for a few minutes with itunes but then becomes distorted and ringy as if it's lost it's audio sync.
- Random kernel panics while using Logic 9, Garageband 11 with an Apogee Duet - all software fully updated. One time it froze while not doing anything - logic was simply open and sitting there. Using iTunes through the Duet seems fine.
- Pops and crackles using Presonus Firestudio.
I've tried wiping my software and reinstalling everything. I'm using a MBP 5,3 2.8Ghz Core 2 Duo 4GB RAM, Snow Leopard (10.6.5) with the latest updates. I'm going to try an Apogee One which is USB, but I'd really like to use a firewire interface. If there's something wrong with my firewire port, I'd like it taken care of. My machine is under applecare 3 year warranty. I don't think this is an easy thing to prove though.
So i use transmission and have DSL. When I download audio torrents, i usually get around 100-200 kbs but when i download movies etc i get like 10-50 kbs only. Why am i getting such slow speeds? right now for example my downloads are not downloading even though it says there are like 30 peers there. but one of them is downloading from 6 from 66 peers at 10 kbs.My port is open too.

I am simply trying to connect my guitar to my mac by using a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter and inserting it to the input on my mac. Once iv done this i go into my sound in system preferences and it shows on the volume bar that its maxing out and once i go into garage band to try and record something all i hear is a "click click"!
