View 6 RepliesHow do we delete email addresses that are saved? In other words, when you start typing an email address, and only after typing 2 letters the rest of the name pops up automatically? I know enough to go to the address book to delete addresses, but after I did that, they still pop up in the "new message."

how can i find exact purchase date of Macbook Pro as i have lost the receipt?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I appear to have lost my external hard drive for my mac, where I kept my backups of my entire computer. In trying to find when I lost it, I'm trying to figure out when the last time I plugged it into my computer was - although my computer says that it's been 147 days or so since my last backup, I know I plugged the hard drive in since then (it just never fully backed up.)
Is there any place on the computer that has a date-by-date history of all the drives accessed/plugged into the computer? There is a risk that my identity has been stolen, if indeed I lost the hard drive long enough ago that someone has their hands on it and the sensitive backups inside it.

I recently had my iMac repaired independently, with upgrade to Mavericks from Lion. I am trying to discover if my Apple purchases/upgrades have been recorded online seeing as of today I cannot find my printed Apple receipts or access much of the information/data which was not correctly migrated to my iMac. I would like to recover iDVD if possible.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI popped it into the iMac and did a Get Info only to discover that its creation and modification dates were yesterdays! I then tried it in Toast 11 under Disk Info and got no dates at all. just technical data. DVDs do display the creation date in Get Info but not CDs.

I want to remove a Safari plug-in. I know how to find the plug-ins that have been installed (Safari > Help > Installed Plug-Ins), but the names of the plug-ins mean nothing to me. I do know, however, when the plug-in (the one that I want to remove) was installed. Is there a way to see the list of installed plug-ins by install date?

I'm visiting my mom and trying to access the internet via one of her neighbors. He's has ok'd this and gave me his password. In the past, this has worked. But now, my daughter can access internet on her mac, but I cannot. I have both mac right here side by side. One has access, one does not.
Just got my refurb MacBook the other day--went through the setup process and got up and running, but unfortunately my internet won't stay connected for more than a few minutes, and when it is connected, it is super slow!
Just some background information that's hopefully helpful. My internet has never been great--if all three of my roommates were all using our laptops or if I was downloading something for a while, I would sometimes get kicked off and have to restart my router. Speaking of which, I'm using the wireless obviously through a Linksys router. While the disconnections on my old laptop happened infrequently, I literally can't stay on the internet for more than 10 minutes with my MacBook.
I really want to use my MacBook, but without the internet, it's pretty much just sitting there and I'm forced to use my 4-year-old, dying HP.
I'm staying at a hotel for an extended period and they said if I gave them my wireless mac address and they could allow me to not have to login every time I opened Safari.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a folder where I place an ever growing collection of my favorite songs. Before I switched to Mac, on Windows, when I wanted to revisit songs I most recently added to the folder, I would sort the songs by the Date Modified and it would order the files I placed in the folder by date.
In OSX, however, there must be a slightly different meaning to "Date Modified," as it does not quite sort my songs by the order they were added. It gets some of it right, but there's plenty of files that are out of order--tune "x", which I know was placed in the folder a week ago is actually listed further down the list with songs placed in the folder months ago.
Is there a way to have OSX sort files in order of the date it was placed in a folder? Neither "Date Modified" nor "Date Created" works 100% as I thought it would. Or is the OSX definition of Date Modified/Created slightly different than Windows?
I've noticed recently that when in Finder, all folders/files have a Modified Date of somewhere in January 2009 or January 2008, regardless of when it was actually modified/created. My clock at the top left-hand corner says Oct 20 though. Any thoughts?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI hope this hasn't been covered elsewhere (I can't find it if it has).My problem is that the history setting although set to " Remove history items after one day " does not. I Have reset Safari 4.0.3 and it still doesn't delete the history. Applecare can't seem to solve the problem either. Please help, although this isn't a major problem it is very annoying. This was happening before SL and I was hoping SL upgrade may have fixed this but it hasn't.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just found an old mac in my room, I think it is a power mac g4, it is running OS X 10.3. I am trying to get it connected to the internet using a cable straight from it to my router (netcomm), the same way i do with my other mac. However, no matter how many different variations i use of my various settings, it wont connect. I have come down to needing a subnet mask, IP address, and router address.
I am almost certain i have the subnet mask and router addie correct, but there seems to be no way for me to find the g4's IP. I have been in system preferences, but all the 'IP' bits are just blank and unclickable. I don't know if it makes a difference, but the G4 was connected to the internet in the past before we upgraded, so it should have an IP somewhere, right?
All my other devices work just fine...

I read a lot of reports that are similar to mine, but I can't find the answers you gave them. I clicked on "watch video." This was a video re: exercises for the back. Anyway, a message popped up stating this: Safari cannot find the internet plug-in. The page "Video/TV Page has content of MIME type "video/x-ms-asf-plugin", but you don't have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/med...ad/default.asp Do you want to open this page?
I said yes, but this site confused me. I don't want to download something and have it be the wrong thing to download.
I got suggestions of updating Flash, I got suggestions of reinstalling Windows Media Player.
So far I haven't done anything. When in doubt, call someone who cares. I hope I came to the right place. I almost logged into "Just Answer," until I realized I had been there before about a year ago. Don't want to go back.
I tried to open some live web cam as link from the web site, but when I go, the following window with comment come on: 'This page has content of MIME type application/x-mplayer2, but you dont have a plug-in for this MIME type. This page may have the plug-in for you to download and install:

I have a Dual 1.8 GHz Power PC G5 and am running 10.4.11. When I select software update it says, "software Update can't connect to the update server. Make sure you are connected to the internet..." "Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem." However, my internet connection works fine for everything else. I do have two peripheral drives connected. One of them had the same system as my main drive. However, the problem persists even when they are disconnected and I reboot. I can get the updates if I reboot from the peripheral.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI shut my macbook pro down the other day and when I turned it on the next day, I couldn't get on Safari. It would constantly say that it couldn't find an internet connection. I tried to check to see if I could do an update, and same problem. Here is the kicker. Mail, iChat, and Firefox all work fine. The only applications affected that I can find so far are iTunes, Safari, and Automatic Update.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tend to just leave my new Mac Pro on all the time so I don't have to re-open apps and get all my windows back into their proper Spaces, but I wonder if there's an easy way to disable the internet while I'm not using it, short of disconnecting the ethernet cable. I've looked through System Prefs and can't seem to find that option.
View 12 Replies View Relatedgetting network issues with Snow Leopard on their macbook air? I bought the family pack and installed it on my MBP and black Macbook but the macbook air has been acting weird since the upgrade. The internet constantly drops and the browser simply get stuck trying to find a connection, other apps that require internet are also not responding. Usually after a few quits and restarts of the application the internet would come back normal but then later it would drop again. I know its specific to the Air because I dont get issues with the Pro or regular Macbook running right next to the machine. I have tried deleting the WPA2 account and readding it but the problem still shows up frequently. Using the Eithernet USB adaptor doesnt help either

Safari regularly gives me error that I'm not connected to internet/can't find server. I've gotten so fed up I've downloaded Firefox and don't have the issue with Firefox. Also, my other computer running Internet Explorer doesn't give me these errors. I've tried resetting safari, emptying cache. I'm on Mac OS X, MacBrook Pro laptop.
