I have seen Apple Support, I have seen the tips and tricks for Migration Manager. Both computers file share and can see each other on the network, Yet here I am asking for help because none of these places have been helpful. The migration assistant can't find my computer. The new one is a Mini and the other is an iMac. Both have up to date Lion 10.7.4.

I decided to get a USB cable for the Canon MP650 I bought yesterday. I connected it, aligned the head and printed out a test page and it looks ok.
I used the disk that came with the printer and it said everything was installed successfully. Do I need a driver? That should be on the disk, right?
I'm using an iMac OS X v 10.5.8
I wanted to print a test photo, so I clicked on One-Click Photo Print and received an error message: The operation cannot be continued because a printer supporting Photo Print is not installed.
I clicked on System Preferences-Print & Fax, and there's nothing there. I clicked the + sign and in the window that opened, there's nothing listed there either. Why is installing a printer like operating the space shuttle?
I just found an old mac in my room, I think it is a power mac g4, it is running OS X 10.3. I am trying to get it connected to the internet using a cable straight from it to my router (netcomm), the same way i do with my other mac. However, no matter how many different variations i use of my various settings, it wont connect. I have come down to needing a subnet mask, IP address, and router address.
I am almost certain i have the subnet mask and router addie correct, but there seems to be no way for me to find the g4's IP. I have been in system preferences, but all the 'IP' bits are just blank and unclickable. I don't know if it makes a difference, but the G4 was connected to the internet in the past before we upgraded, so it should have an IP somewhere, right?
I have my desktop mac connected to my macbook pro via ethernet and am sharing the laptop's wi-fi internet successfully with "Internet Sharing", but is there a way for that tethered desktop to access other Bonjour listings (file server) on the main network through the laptop's wi-fi? (Setup: I am temporarily working on the desktop in a room that doesn't have ethernet access and my LAN from airport extreme are in another part of the house)

Is there a way to find internet history on a particular date (from almost a year ago)? If so, how?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI read a lot of reports that are similar to mine, but I can't find the answers you gave them. I clicked on "watch video." This was a video re: exercises for the back. Anyway, a message popped up stating this: Safari cannot find the internet plug-in. The page "Video/TV Page has content of MIME type "video/x-ms-asf-plugin", but you don't have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/med...ad/default.asp Do you want to open this page?
I said yes, but this site confused me. I don't want to download something and have it be the wrong thing to download.
I got suggestions of updating Flash, I got suggestions of reinstalling Windows Media Player.
So far I haven't done anything. When in doubt, call someone who cares. I hope I came to the right place. I almost logged into "Just Answer," until I realized I had been there before about a year ago. Don't want to go back.
I tried to open some live web cam as link from the web site, but when I go, the following window with comment come on: 'This page has content of MIME type application/x-mplayer2, but you dont have a plug-in for this MIME type. This page may have the plug-in for you to download and install:

I have a Dual 1.8 GHz Power PC G5 and am running 10.4.11. When I select software update it says, "software Update can't connect to the update server. Make sure you are connected to the internet..." "Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem." However, my internet connection works fine for everything else. I do have two peripheral drives connected. One of them had the same system as my main drive. However, the problem persists even when they are disconnected and I reboot. I can get the updates if I reboot from the peripheral.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI'm visiting my mom and trying to access the internet via one of her neighbors. He's has ok'd this and gave me his password. In the past, this has worked. But now, my daughter can access internet on her mac, but I cannot. I have both mac right here side by side. One has access, one does not.
I shut my macbook pro down the other day and when I turned it on the next day, I couldn't get on Safari. It would constantly say that it couldn't find an internet connection. I tried to check to see if I could do an update, and same problem. Here is the kicker. Mail, iChat, and Firefox all work fine. The only applications affected that I can find so far are iTunes, Safari, and Automatic Update.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tend to just leave my new Mac Pro on all the time so I don't have to re-open apps and get all my windows back into their proper Spaces, but I wonder if there's an easy way to disable the internet while I'm not using it, short of disconnecting the ethernet cable. I've looked through System Prefs and can't seem to find that option.
View 12 Replies View RelatedJust got my refurb MacBook the other day--went through the setup process and got up and running, but unfortunately my internet won't stay connected for more than a few minutes, and when it is connected, it is super slow!
Just some background information that's hopefully helpful. My internet has never been great--if all three of my roommates were all using our laptops or if I was downloading something for a while, I would sometimes get kicked off and have to restart my router. Speaking of which, I'm using the wireless obviously through a Linksys router. While the disconnections on my old laptop happened infrequently, I literally can't stay on the internet for more than 10 minutes with my MacBook.
I really want to use my MacBook, but without the internet, it's pretty much just sitting there and I'm forced to use my 4-year-old, dying HP.
I'm staying at a hotel for an extended period and they said if I gave them my wireless mac address and they could allow me to not have to login every time I opened Safari.

getting network issues with Snow Leopard on their macbook air? I bought the family pack and installed it on my MBP and black Macbook but the macbook air has been acting weird since the upgrade. The internet constantly drops and the browser simply get stuck trying to find a connection, other apps that require internet are also not responding. Usually after a few quits and restarts of the application the internet would come back normal but then later it would drop again. I know its specific to the Air because I dont get issues with the Pro or regular Macbook running right next to the machine. I have tried deleting the WPA2 account and readding it but the problem still shows up frequently. Using the Eithernet USB adaptor doesnt help either

Safari regularly gives me error that I'm not connected to internet/can't find server. I've gotten so fed up I've downloaded Firefox and don't have the issue with Firefox. Also, my other computer running Internet Explorer doesn't give me these errors. I've tried resetting safari, emptying cache. I'm on Mac OS X, MacBrook Pro laptop.

Is there a way to tell which one is slow, if anything is going slow?
I have an extremely old PC which is normally ok for most things, but gets bogged down if I am doing too many things.
I was so annoyed with our national real estate site after they changed the format that I wrote a letter once a long time ago.. and I was ready to let them have it again, listing all the reasons why it is so bad and so much worse than the original.
Today for the first time, I accessed the site (mls.ca) using my new iMac. It was like lightening speed, comparatively speaking.
Wow, suddenly I knew why the mls people hadn't changed their new format.
But then I started going to other sites.. like airmiles.ca for example, and it was slow as heck... and stalling.. etc.
How would I be able to tell whether it is an internet slowness or the computer being slow?
I just got a ps3 and what it boils down to is that I cannot use the ps3 and my macbook on my wireless network at the same time. I have the late 2008 unibody 2.0 macbook. Each plays nice with the network individually but as soon as I try to connect to the internet on both at the same time they crap out and I get the "your computer is not connected to the internet" error message in safari and a similar message on my ps3.
I tried researching it online and all I could find is that the routers DNS server could possibly be issuing the same ip address to both units and this could be causing the problem, seeing as you can't have the same ip address twice on a given local network. I've done all the basics like restarting each machine, disconnecting and reconnecting etc and it doesn't seem to work.
Recently I have been having issues loading internet content. When I try to load almost any website, my internet browser acts like it is searching for my wireless router and can't find it. However, when I use my PSP to connect to the internet from the same spot, it works perfectly fine. The PSP usually says there is a 70% connection, which is better than it has ever been. My router and laptop are on the same floor only a room away.
I have other people in my house that share the router: 6 computers; 4 are laptops that are used more often than the 2 desktops, 4 iPod Touches; 2 of which are never used. I had everyone turn off Bluetooth on all devices since none of us use that feature and that didn't help all.
I honestly don't know what the problem is, but if I had to make a guess, it would be all of the things that our devices can connect to with AirPort. There is Motorola, 2WIRE017, 2WIRE160, 2WIRE417, 2WIRE730, MartinWirelessRouter, NorzWireless, NETGEAR, schooly, and stackdaddy. I think all of these wireless connections are disrupting one another, which is what I thought was causing the problem. The only one I ever care to connect to is Motorola, so is there a way to prevent my computer from even recognizing anything else?
