View 2 RepliesI've just created another user account on my mbp, and the problem I'm having is that there are certain applications of mine that the 2nd user doesn't want or need, however when I go onto that account and remove the application it also deletes it from my account?
Is this normal, and is there any way around this? So that I can pick and choose which applications exist on the 2nd account?
I have an iMac 27 (end of year 2009) I5.It has 1 TB internal and I want to replace it with a 2 TB internal. I have time machine backups on an external hard drive that has been connected via Firewire. I have another iMac (my son's)Imac 24 Intel Core 2 Duo that has it's own separate Time machine backup to it's own separate firewire connected external drive. Both machines are completely up to date with the latest version of Lion and all other necessary software updates. When the internal hardrive is replaced - I want to use my latest time machine backup to create one profile on the imac and then use my son's latest time machine back up for a second profile. The end goal being to have everything from my current set up ie: apps, documents, itunes, etc existing in one profile and everything in my son's current set up existing in the other profile. We can both be administrators for the time being as well.I should note even though we both have some of the same apps, we both also have other apps that the other does not.
My profile will be using about 900 gigs of total space. My son's profile will be using about 250 gigs of total space. This is temporary until the new iMac is released. Then I will want to transfer my profile to that leaving my son's intact on the iMac 27 I5.I realize that during the temporary period that Time Machine will be making backups of this entire two profile setup, which I am now understanding as I write this will create a new issue for me when I want to transfer only my profile to the new computer as well. But one bridge to cross at a time, I guess.I need to do this because we must bring his current computer to my father - as his iMac G5 is inoperable. We have been doing this round robin hand me down in our family since IMac DV special edition :-)

View 15 Replies View RelatedEver since owning the uMBP, I have kept the battery charged and monthly calibrate it to maintain a 100% battery health. But through this, the laptop limits its portability and it is sometimes extremely tedious to find a plug in order to use it. My question is: Is it really worth it to keep a good battery that will last overtime, or would you prefer simply purchasing a new battery when your old one dies? Also, how big of a difference does a healthy battery compare to a battery put through regular use?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Macbook Air and needed some tips to keep it's battery healthy. Now I know that the battery has limited cycles before it goes down to less than 80% charge capacity. But if I keep my adapted connected as much time as possible, to reduce the number of those cycle counts, will it harm it battery? What is best way to keep the battery running healthy for long time - charging it once a day or using it with adapted connected most of the times?

Ever since I bootcamped my Mac with Windows XP Professional, whenever I restart or boot up in OSX my time is always behind by 6 hours. I went into the settings and unchecked the set date and time automatically but it keeps giving me the wrong time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently applied an EFI firmware update to my MacBook Pro 15" (early 2011), which is currently running OSX 10.7.3. Coincidentally, my clock now loses several seconds per hour (in both sleep or screensaver mode), so after several hours, I lose about a minute. Of course, I could manually correct the clock via System Preferences' Date/Time synchronization. But I shouldn't be losing this much time.Â

I don't feel like i have enough space so i decided to purchase a new harddrive and decided a 500 GB would do me just fine Though, i have all my data on this harddrive. I was thinking on making a full disk Time Machine copy of my disk and then restoring the new harddisk with that copy. But i don't know where to place that copy, since it is like 130 GB which is quite a big archive.

Sometimes, the clock shows the wrong time. However, when I open the clock menu, it will update to the correct time..
What's going on?
I bought my Macbook from the US, but now I've returned to my country and since then ,I think, when I'm not connected to the Inet the clock is way off.
In the PC's the system clock can be easily changed in the BIOS and if I don't have Internet the clock is currect. +- a few seconds aren't that big of a difference.
And here is an example:
I put my laptop to sleep. Go to school, but there is no WiFi, It's ,let's say, 12:34PM. The clock in Mac OSX, Windows 7 shows 10:15 AM. (The times are for example). As soon as I go online, the clocks are adjusted via [URL] or [URL] depending on the OS. And the clock shows the currect time of ,in this example, 12:34 PM.
Is it possible to set the time zone/clock in the EFI boot system similar to the BIOS in the PCs?
I'm currently using rEFIt as boot manager and there there is a Shell console.
For some reason my clock changes it's time on Windows and Mac every once in a while. I don't know if it's Bootcamp or VMwareFusion causing this, but for some reason it's happening.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy school has ~15 iBook G3's(600 MHZ, 128 MB RAM, OS X 10.2.8) that are suddenly unable to hold the date or time. They are plugged in constantly, batteries in, and are always on. I know that with the Pismos, there are PRAM batteries that you can replace, but if I read Apple's support pages right, there aren't any in the iBooks. How does this happen? How easy is the fix?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new MacBook Pro 15" running Leopard 10.5.6, and the clock is being weird. Last weekend we put the clocks forward an hour here in the UK and I suspect this has something to do with it. What's happening is that my clock is displaying an hour earlier than it actually is, and if I put it into manual mode rather than relying on the Euro Apple timeserver, that fixes it but then the time on my Mail is wrong - it says each message was received a hour before it actually was.
Then it gets really odd - if I change the timezone to London BST and then check the time & date panel, the digital clock still reads an hour early, but the analogue one beneath it displays the right time Then if I close the panel and re-open, I find it's reverted to GMT and both clocks say it's an hour early.
I have windows 7 installed on my macbook (aluminum body) via bootcamp, but whenever i use windows the clock is 4 hours ahead of the current time, and if i change it and go back to using snow leopard the clock is 4 hours back, i already tried syning with windows time and apple time, but nothing, any tips?

I have three Macs backing up via Time Machine. They are using an external hard drive connected to one of the machines. These back-ups take place on site every day, but I also want to use the same back-up system to back-up to a second hard drive which can then be stored off-site.I have initiated first back-ups OK using this system, but now when I look to change the back-up drive once a week the machines don’t seem to recognise the earlier back-up files on the external drive and start to make a new back-up each time. The back-ups are all large and I can’t afford the time this is taking. How can I make my drives recognize the earlier back-up files and just perform an incremental back-up rather than a complete new back-up each time.Â
