Everytime I restart my computer my clock sets to some random time! I've never had this problem before, and no matter how many times I set it back it always changes. That and my weather widget always changes to some random city.
View 4 RepliesI restarted my computer, and when it booted back up the clock was reset to Dec 31 2000. I did not change the clock, and my control settings are password locked.
Should I be concerned about this, and has this happened to anybody else?
What would cause random restart? Maybe one in 15 times, when I lock my display, I will find that in the morning, my computer had restarted without my doing. Irritating as I rely on it for an alarm clock and as I have to log in, the alarm doesn't restart in the event this happens (almost overslept an exam today because of this). I am on a late 09 mb with 10.6.5 running.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn the last few weeks my Macbook has started be begin freezing at seemingly random intervals. It is a 2008 Macbook, not a Macbook Pro or Macbook Air. At first this was only once a day, or once every other day, but it has gotten progressively worse. By today, I can't go more than 2 or 3 hours without it freezing, forcing me to manually restart the computer. The freezing is not application specific; once it freezes with one application, if I try to pull up anything on the menu bar, the menu bar proceeds to freeze. I haven't made any recent major changes to the computer, and it had been working perfectly fine before now. I'm working on scanning it in case it is a virus, but this is seeming increasingly unlikely.

My macbook onward restart when waking up from sleep, but no error message appear . Plus all my program and website reload back as before. Only problem is why it restart occasionally and it is normal. I don't have that symptom on earlier. Now using maverick 10.9.2

I bought my Macbook from the US, but now I've returned to my country and since then ,I think, when I'm not connected to the Inet the clock is way off.
In the PC's the system clock can be easily changed in the BIOS and if I don't have Internet the clock is currect. +- a few seconds aren't that big of a difference.
And here is an example:
I put my laptop to sleep. Go to school, but there is no WiFi, It's ,let's say, 12:34PM. The clock in Mac OSX, Windows 7 shows 10:15 AM. (The times are for example). As soon as I go online, the clocks are adjusted via [URL] or [URL] depending on the OS. And the clock shows the currect time of ,in this example, 12:34 PM.
Is it possible to set the time zone/clock in the EFI boot system similar to the BIOS in the PCs?
I'm currently using rEFIt as boot manager and there there is a Shell console.
For some reason my clock changes it's time on Windows and Mac every once in a while. I don't know if it's Bootcamp or VMwareFusion causing this, but for some reason it's happening.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy school has ~15 iBook G3's(600 MHZ, 128 MB RAM, OS X 10.2.8) that are suddenly unable to hold the date or time. They are plugged in constantly, batteries in, and are always on. I know that with the Pismos, there are PRAM batteries that you can replace, but if I read Apple's support pages right, there aren't any in the iBooks. How does this happen? How easy is the fix?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new MacBook Pro 15" running Leopard 10.5.6, and the clock is being weird. Last weekend we put the clocks forward an hour here in the UK and I suspect this has something to do with it. What's happening is that my clock is displaying an hour earlier than it actually is, and if I put it into manual mode rather than relying on the Euro Apple timeserver, that fixes it but then the time on my Mail is wrong - it says each message was received a hour before it actually was.
Then it gets really odd - if I change the timezone to London BST and then check the time & date panel, the digital clock still reads an hour early, but the analogue one beneath it displays the right time Then if I close the panel and re-open, I find it's reverted to GMT and both clocks say it's an hour early.
I have windows 7 installed on my macbook (aluminum body) via bootcamp, but whenever i use windows the clock is 4 hours ahead of the current time, and if i change it and go back to using snow leopard the clock is 4 hours back, i already tried syning with windows time and apple time, but nothing, any tips?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently applied an EFI firmware update to my MacBook Pro 15" (early 2011), which is currently running OSX 10.7.3. Coincidentally, my clock now loses several seconds per hour (in both sleep or screensaver mode), so after several hours, I lose about a minute. Of course, I could manually correct the clock via System Preferences' Date/Time synchronization. But I shouldn't be losing this much time.

I am trying to set up a RAID5 but am having trouble with the volumes. My RAID set is 5.23TB but my Volume is only 2TB. I am creating a second volume of 3.23TB. Is there a way to combine the two volumes into one volume of 5.23TB to match the RAID set?

I have my G5 set up with a harmon kardon speakers and all is fine. From my office there are cables to another room where I can attach speakers. I know that I could have used airport extreme to connect other speakers but can anyone tell me how I can connect the other speakers (via) the cable to my mac. I want to be able to fade the beginning and end of songs. I also want to be able to add a recorded introduction to the beginning of a song. I've tried audacity, but it required another software to put it in the right format for burning to a cd. too many steps. I want a software that can read the songs from itunes and create the set in a format that can be easily burned to a cd.

I'm looking at the ARC-1210 and it seems like you can have more than one set of striped drives, but I'm not positive. My plan is to have two small SSDs set up for the boot drive and two HDDs for storage, each pair set up with RAID 0. Can this be accomplished using a single controller? Note: I'd just use OS X's software RAID but I need to keep the cores freed up for computation. I'm not concerned with redundancy--just speed.

I am very disappointed to find that iPhoto only uploads photos to Facebook & Flickr in complete sets. I was really looking forward to this feature as I use both websites regularly, and assumed I would be able to upload just one picture, and choose what album I would add that photo to online. But no, iPhoto needs me to have an entirely new Flickr album matching an entire iPhoto event.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just recently upgraded to SL and have a few issues. I am still kinda new to OSX even though I've had an iMac for a a few years. I mainly was using Windows 7 on Bootcamp, but now want to really get to know OSX.
First, in Leopard there were icons on the desktop for my MAC hard drive and my Windows hard drive. But after installing SL they aren't on there. I liked the idea of having them on the desktop for quick access. Can someone let me know how to get them back on the desktop?
Second I have a Razer DeathAdder mouse I use. I have the latest OSX drivers installed. This problem I've had with Leopard and Snow Leopard is that even though I've set the tracking speed under System Preferences, after rebooting the tracking goes all the way back to down the the lowest setting. I've tried setting it in the DeathAdder's software and in the regular preferences in OSX but after reboot it always goes back down. It is annoying cause it tracks way to slow and I have to manually up it a few notches whenever I boot up.
I have a computer on a local network using a manually setup static ip address, but every time I restart the computer it reverts to a different static ip (one that is assigned to another computer) causing a conflict on the network. I have tried trashing the system config files and resetting up the network settings, but the static ip still comes over. I have also tried setting the ip through single user mode using ipconfig, but it still resets every time I restart.

I have to boot into bootcamp frequently and it seems that shutting down osx, restarting into win 7/bootcamp takes quite a while... 1 minute and 40 seconds...?
This especially considering my osx startup is on an intel gen 2 ssd, and the win 7 startup is on a seperate gen 2 ssd... shouldn't it be 30 seconds or so?
