OS X :: Safari/iTunes Can't Connect To Web - "missing Semicolon"?

Mar 4, 2009

strange problem here. Was using the Safari 4 beta happily this evening on my early 2008 MacBook Pro (running 10.5.6) - computer slept as it was on battery, and when I woke it, Safari suddenly wouldn't connect to anything at all. I reset my router and modem, as they sometimes get flaky, but this didn't fix the problem.

On closer examination, I found that this seems to be an Apple apps problem - neither Safari, nor iTunes, nor Software Update will connect, but Firefox will (I'm using it to type this). I've tried uninstalling the beta, rolling back to an earlier build of WebKit, turning the computer on and off again. Nothing seems to help - just keep getting the same "can't connect to server" message.

I checked Console log and found this - every time Safari opens.

Safari[522]: CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): Old-style plist parser: missing semicolon in dictionary.

This message started appearing when the problem started.

Ideas? Don't really want to have to archive and install unless I have to. Has anyone encountered this before?

MacBook Pro :: Safari Cannot Connect To Server

Mar 12, 2012

So for some reason my MacBook Pro is acting weird at my apartment. When I try to connect the the internet it always comes up as safari cannot open the window because safari cannot connect to the server. However when I run diagnostics it says my internet is working correctly. I can not open websites such as facebook, google, youtube, etc. But I can open Bing and Ask.com. I have cleared my catche, deleted cookies, tried reseting my router, and nothing works. But then when I go to school I can connect to the internet and all of the other websites fine. What is going on with my computer is there something I need to do with my router at home or what?

MacBook Pro :: Why Can't Safari Establish Secure Connect With Facebook

Jul 1, 2014

I've tried doing things with proxy. I've tried resetting Safari. I've tried doing things with cookies. I've tried disabling extensions. Next step is to try throwing my laptop out the window. This only started happening yesterday and there is no issues with other sites. It's not my internet connection. I can't get to Facebook by direct URL or through google or through links in my history. Macbook Pro bought in 2012 with Mountain Loin.

MacBook Pro :: Unable To Connect To WPA-PSK Wireless / Safari Not Connecting To Network

Jan 11, 2007

Airport sucks. A lot. It works just fine in WEP or unprotected networks, but WPA-PSK it doesn't do a damn thing. It shows it as connected with a full signal, but Safari, iChat, etc... won't connect to the internet. For some reason Azureus works, but it's going at an amazing 146 bytes/sec and then back down to 0. What's going on here guys? This is my first Mac and I am sorely disappointed in Airport.

Every time I login to iTunes from my computer I'm getting a "can't connect to iTunes" error message. It goes halfway through accessing iTunes, then I get that "iTunes quit unexpectedly" script where a log of my error messages shows up that will be sent to Apple. I can't even upload any apps from my computer. OS X :: Safari Cannot Connect To Certain Websites

May 11, 2008

I have three computers on my home network; A dual 1.8 G5 with Leopard, a Macbook Pro with Leopard, and a Windows XP Box. My problem with Safari started about 3 months ago, when I tried accessing a website via my g5. Safari said it could not connect to the server. I assumed the site was down. However, I hopped on my MBP and the site worked fine. In fact, I found a lot of sites that my G5 didn't want to access that my MBP could, on the same network. I have flushed my DNS cache, reset safari, cleared safari's cache, reset my router, cable modem, checked the DNS servers. Everything seems identical between the MBP and the g5. The problem happens in both Safari and Firefox

OS X :: Only Safari Can Connect To Internet?

Apr 14, 2009

I've been using Safari for awhile and it's been working fine. However, the Macheist chat stopped loading the past few days, and I know it's just me, because other people can connect. So I thought I would download Firefox to see if that would work, but when I type in a webpage in Firefox, it would just give me a blank white page. So I thought it was just a bad preference file, so I deleted it, but Firefox did the same thing. So I downloaded Firefox 2, and the same thing happened. Now I was a little freaked out, as you can imagine. Then I downloaded Camino, and the same the happened-a blank white screen! Only Safari can connect to the web.

Safari :: 5.1.5 Cannot Connect To Internet

Apr 2, 2012

Im recently updated the software for my macbook pro. Since doing so, when i open safari it just says cannot connect to internet, even though my wifi is connected. After 2 mins of sitting on the desktop safari connects succesfully once opened and stays connected until i next put the machine into sleep.

All other devices in the house are working, including an ipad, 2 x iphones and 2 x PC's.The macbook pro was working completely fine before the update so i am totally convinced that this update has caused it.

I can get FB, Yahoo, whatever on other computers using the same ISP, modem, and router.

Safari Will Not Open / Connect To Webpages

Jun 21, 2012

I have searched through the forums here and google, and still have not found a solution.  I have logged into other user accounts with the same results, but found that the guest account does work. I've actually booted the machine in target disk mode and deleted safari, then downloaded and reinstalled it, but through the process there are probably a lot of things I've missed.  I've trashed the plugins, reset safari a billion times, and have even created a new location in network settings (per advice on another website). I'm not sure what else to try, short of wiping the system and re-installing (which seems drastic).
