MacBook Pro :: Why Can't Safari Establish Secure Connect With Facebook

Jul 1, 2014

I've tried doing things with proxy. I've tried resetting Safari. I've tried doing things with cookies. I've tried disabling extensions. Next step is to try throwing my laptop out the window. This only started happening yesterday and there is no issues with other sites. It's not my internet connection. I can't get to Facebook by direct URL or through google or through links in my history. Macbook Pro bought in 2012 with Mountain Loin.

MacBook Pro :: Safari Cannot Connect To Server

Mar 12, 2012

So for some reason my MacBook Pro is acting weird at my apartment. When I try to connect the the internet it always comes up as safari cannot open the window because safari cannot connect to the server. However when I run diagnostics it says my internet is working correctly. I can not open websites such as facebook, google, youtube, etc. But I can open Bing and Ask.com. I have cleared my catche, deleted cookies, tried reseting my router, and nothing works. But then when I go to school I can connect to the internet and all of the other websites fine. What is going on with my computer is there something I need to do with my router at home or what?

OS X :: Gmail.com Loads Yahoo - Safari Cannot Connect To Server

May 19, 2010

This is a pretty weird problem I've been having on and off for the past few months... Every now and then, when I type a URL into Safari, it loads a completely different site... For example, [URL].will load [URL].. This usually lasts for around 30 minutes or so, and then it goes back to normal. The URLs affected vary... right now, when I try to load [URL]., Safari loads an error page from Yahoo! (but the URL in the address bar is still [URL].). If I try to go directly to Gmail by typing in mail.google.com, Safari says "cannot connect to server". I attached a screenshot of what happens when I go to [URL].

OS X :: Possible To Connect Mac To PC Using VPN Secure Client?

Mar 4, 2009

I'm looking to buy a new computer and want to upgrade to a Mac. However, I need to be able to connect my home computer to my work desktop since I work from home. The Corp. help desk says I can't do it, but they're also not IT professionals so I'm not ready to take their word for it. Here's what I'm using.

VPN Secure Client NGX R60 HFA2 (Build 001)
Remote Desktop
Work Desktop - Windows XP Pro

Searching the internet, I get the feeling that NGX R60 refers to the PC (Windows) version and NGX R65 refers to the Mac version. If I use Boot Camp, can I switch to Windows mode and connect that way? Is it a terrible PITA to do?

Intel Mac :: Cannot Connect To MS Exchange Server Using Outlook 2012

Jun 3, 2012

I am running a network using a Time Machine as my DHCP server and Verizon wireless router. I use Microsoft Exchange for email, etc. For hours at a time, my Intel iMac (OS 10.7.4) will not connect to my Exchange Server using Outlook 2012, and I can not connect to the Exchange server using my browsers-Google Chrome or Safari (Outlook web access).I get errors that the server is not available. If I use another computer on my network, like my MacBook, it connects both through Outlook or Web Access in a browser window.

I have the same problem on my iMac whether I connect via ethernet or wireless. Firewall is disabled, using no proxies, etc... The problem may persist for a few hours or a day at a time and will spontaneously resolve-I have tried changing DHCP settings, etc... The problem occurs for all user accounts, and does not seem to differ if multiple users are logged or just one. The Exchange server address is the only web address I seem to have this problem with.

Intel Mac :: Cannot Connect To Internet - Server Lights Yellow

Jun 13, 2012

All of a sudden I cannot connect to the internet. I use both Safari and Firefox and have not been having any problems. My machine tells me that it is connected to the ethernet and I have an IP address and everything else, but it just won't connect. I run diagnostics and the internet and server lights are yellow, not green. There are no proxy servers and I changed the firewall settings to allow all connections. Still doesn't work. My provider tole me to exchange the modem today and see if that works. They say they can see my computer but they can't communicate with it. Is there some hidden firewall somewhere in the OS.

OS X Technologies :: Cannot Connect To Secure Websites

May 10, 2012

I was going to do some homework on Google Docs, and the login page would not load! It would simply try to connect for a while, then time out. After some experimenting, I noticed this happened with all secure web pages (https://), and that non-secure websites (http://) loaded fine. This happens in all browers. I tested Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Now, this only happens on my user account. This does not happen on my moms account, which I am currently on.We initially thought it was an issue with the parental controls, so we completely disabled them. But the problem still persists.

Intel Mac :: Cannot Connect To Windows Home Server 2011 Shares

Feb 3, 2012

I am having difficulties connecting from iMac to Windows Home Server 2011 shares.First of all it takes so long time to discover the share in iMac, which it's called "mediaserver". After finding it I cannot connect and gives "Connection Failed: message. If I choose "Connect As.." option I wait some time and then pops out with an error:

"There was a problem connecting to the server "mediaserver". The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."

If I try from Finder -> Go -> Connect to Server ... write in Server Address : smb://mediaserver it fails. But if I write the IP address, like: smb://192.168.1.42 it works after couple of tries. If I try now to Make an Alias for the share I get "The operation can't be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -8060)."I have updated to Mac OS X version 10.7.3.

OS X :: VPN / SSH Server And Secure Remote Access For Snow Leopard

Feb 3, 2010

I would like to ask on how I can connect securely to my iMac at home from my MBP when I'm travelling. I have subscribed to MobileMe, unfortunately, it is not always possible to connect using MobileMe due to technical issues (Many would have agreed that MobileMe are not reliable at times).

What I would like to achieve is the following:

1) Install either a VPN and/or SSH server in my iMac at home

2) Enable access not only my iMac but also my home network and internet connection from my home.

2) Be able to browse using my iMac or AEBS in my home network from my MBP in a secure way (similar to proxy).

I understand that I can setup SSH server and do some port forwarding with it. I need more details or tutorial on this, if you have any link that would be appreicated. Basically, I understand the idea but this would be impractical as I need to setup a lot of forwarding (one forwarding for each service).

So VPN solution may be cleaner in a way. I checked that OpenVPN.net doesn't support newer OSX anymore. Any idea how to do this? I have identified an OpenVPN client that can be used but not the server portion.

Mac OS X Lion Server :: Cannot Connect To VPN Service Unless Server Is Locally Logged Into

Jun 27, 2012

I work remotely a lot.  After I upgraded to Lion server, I am unable to connect to the VPN service remotely unless I physically go over to the server (mac pro) and log into the desktop manually.

Previously, if my Snow Leopard server restarted (due to power failure, etc) and it re-booted up to the login screen, I could still logon to the VPN remotely as the VPN service would always startup (at the login screen) without a user having to be logging in.

Now, with Lion Server (10.7.4), if the server restarts, I cannot login back to the VPN. I have to get someone to go over to the server and manually login, then I can access VPN just fine. (I do not, and will not turn automatic login on on my server due to the huge security risk.)

How do I get the Lion Server VPN service to startup before or at the logon screen even if no user is logged in?

OS X Server V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Server Admin Cannot Connect

Mar 20, 2012

I'm trying to using Server admin on a remote Mac to manage our xserve. Both are running 10.6.8 and I've installed the Server Admin tools onto the mac. Both the Workgroup manager and Server Monitor work OK on the mac, but whenever I try and connect the Server Admin it always comes up with the error : "The login information is incomplete for this server or is not valid. The server failed to accept the login information you provided for <servername>. Check the name and password and try to log on again" I can't connect using the server name, FQDN, or IP address. The macs are all using OD and AD and I've tried both AD and local OD accounts (all administrative) but to no avail. DNS is working OK and I can resolve the server-name with dig and dig -x. I can screen share the server so connectivity isn't the problem.

Applications :: Using Safari And Browsing Secure Websites?

Apr 27, 2004

I have been using Safari faithfully since it was released, and in the last week it has developed a strange problem. I can't recall doing anything different that would have caused this problem, but now whenever I try to load a secure website (https), I get the error message "Safari could not load the page https:xxxx because it could not connect to the server." I have tried resetting Safari, but that didn't fix the problem. I have also thrown away the following files (Safari_1.2.pkg, Safari (folder), Safari (application), and com.apple.Safari.plist) and reinstalling a new version of Safari, also without success. I should add that Internet Explorer will always load the pages that choke Safari, but I hate using this program. Has anyone ever heard of this before, and does anyone know how to fix it? Here is a link to the error message I get when I try to log in to my .Mac account:

Applications :: Safari Hangs On Secure Sites?

Jun 8, 2010

When I start up Safari and load my home page (google.com/ig) it takes way to long (>30 seconds). After doing some testing I found out that Safari seems to be hanging when I make secure requests. I found that out by removing the Gmail and Google Calendar gadgets from my home page and it loaded right away. But then when I go to gmail.com and log in I have to wait again. Also at that time I can't use any other tabs, they all just sit there and spin like they are loading.

Has anyone else had this issue? I know its a Safari issue because Chrome it just fine. Any ideas?

Software :: Safari Can't Access Secure Websites?

Dec 25, 2009

My dad set up a managed account for me on my family's iMac and now Safari 4.0.3 will give me the the following error message every time I click on a link to or type the address of a secure website:

Safari can't open the page "pageAddress" because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server "serverAddress".

I'm curious about what might cause this because it's stopping me from using a lot of user login pages (i.e.: the Google Accounts login page.) Is there some way that my dad could fix this (I'm not the administrator, as mentioned first.)?

Software :: Safari Can't Make A Secure Connection?

Apr 30, 2010

For several of the accounts on my iMac, I've set parental controls to "try and limit access to adult content" When I do this, Safari stops being able to access "https" websites such as gmail.com etc. If I set the parental controls setting to "unrestricted access" the problem goes away. I don't want the kids to have "unlimited acess" but I do want to let them access "https" sites as appropiate. I've seen several old threads on this subject, but nothing so far that I could find related to it being caused by the parental controls or how to fix it. I'm running OS X 10.6.3 on an iMac quad core. I'm also very new to the Mac world (6 month) so I'm pretty much at the beginner level.

OS X Server V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Cannot Connect To Server

Apr 30, 2012

I am running multiple services with the latest version of OS X Server (10.6.8) on my MacMini (web, vpn, mail, ichat, ical, address book, etc.) . Everything has been working fine for the last year and no changes have been made to the server, settings, ISP, or DNS, with the exception of installing the latest system software updates. Now, when I try to open my websites or connect remotely via VPN I get a "cannot connect to sever" message.  All other services are still working as they should. The server is hooked up to an Airport Extreme via a cable modem with a static IP. I have tried the following thus far:

1) checked all cables and they are plugged in and seated properly.

2) restarted the server, airport extreme, and cable modem

3) turned Web services off and on again in Server Admin

4) checked the DNS via the web and my site addresses are pointing to my static IP address

5) checked the Airport's port mapping to make sure Web Service was still on

6) checked my websites SSL certificate to make sure it's current and enabled

7) tried disabling SSL

8) created and enabled a new self-signed SSL certificate

Recent log activity shows:

Apr 29 11:38:49 xxxxxx-corp org.apache.httpd[47667]: Syntax error on line 13 of /etc/apache2/proxy_sites/0000_any_8443_localhost.conf:

Apr 29 11:38:49 xxxxxx-corp com.apple.launchd[1] (org.apache.httpd[47667]): Exited with exit code: 1

I'm assuming the "key.pem' does not exist or is empty" part is the issue, but I am a novice and have no idea what that means.
