I remember seeing some type of program or script that would take a picture with isight if an incorrect login password was entered. Does anyone know the name of the program or know where I can find the script?
Wondering what kind of anti-theft software people are using since there is no way to use a physical cable lock on the MBA.
Also - anyone with software installed - can you post any experience with having to actually use it to get your mac back or the software companies support.
Registered my laptop as 'stolen' and it snapped my picture, tracerouted my network, located me on google maps, and I also made it sound an alarm. Pretty good for free
iphone has find my iphone and mobile me, but what about macbooks? are there any similar anti-theft apps(preferably free) that tracks macbook's wifi location and help track down the laptop?
The lack of a security slot to cable down the airbook is drving me nuts. I like to putter around in my local coffee house and leave my mb pro cabled to the table when I go to the head or wander off in a fog. I'm thinking of inventing my own security system -- or maybe having a machine shop drill a hole. or calling Steve and asking him why he created this problem in the first place.
My buddy just saw one of these and suggested it to me. I have the glossy screen and would like less glare. Anyone use this or something like this on their glossy MBP screen? Any loss in color, or balance of color?
Does anyone have / know where I can download a driver for isight for Mac OS X v.10.5.2 Every time I try and use it, it tells me that its in use by another program. I tried shutting down everything and it still does not seem to want to work.
I have a Macbook and it comes with Photo Booth which is kinda cool. But I was wondering if there is any freeware software that lets you utilize your built-in iSight as a video recorder?
i have an imac here which won't start when i push the power button. nothing happens. there is no noise, no fan, no flashing on screen or something else. i already opend it and checked the 4 LEDs on the logicboard. nothing to see there too. the only thing i noticed is, when i connect the power supply i hear an short noise coming from the PSU, i think and one (i think the first) LED flashes one time. also tried to push the internal power button, without success. noticed NO exploded or damaged capacitors on PSU and Logicboard (but i think thas more a problem of older G5).
Anti-Glare vs Glossy with an anti-glare film. Opinions? Advice? I want to retain the pretty black bezel and the film would serve a double purpose: anti-glare and scratch protection.
I have a 13" 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo current gen. Macbook Pro. I was wondering if I can run Grand theft auto on my macbook pro (i do not care about quality/rendering, I just what to know if it will run). By the way, I have bootcamp running windows 7.
I downloaded GTA San Andreas from the App Store. The game works fine. Only thing is I cannot seem to get the resolution to go higher than 800 x 600 x 32. Is there a reason for this? I am using a fairly new Macbook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.3. with a 2.66Ghz Intel Core i7 processor. 8 GB ram. I am also using the higher resolution screen 1680 x 1050. However, when I go to the advanced game settings I cannot seem to make any changes to the resolution?
Is there any way of ensuring no one is accessing my hard drive and downloading my files when I'm online?
I have just made the mistake of replying to an email request from what I thought was my online bank - and stupidly gave out my log on information. I contacted my bank who confirmed this was a fraudulant email. Thankfully they have blocked my accounts. But I was told the fraudsters could have infected my computer with a virus - enabling them to get files from my hard drive when online.
I have an Intel core duo iMac with Leopard OS. Is there a way to check if anyone is accessing my files or block access when online?
Do MAcbook Air need any Anti-virus? If yes then which one you prefer?, Do MAcbook Air need any Anti-virus? If yes then which one you prefer?, Do MAcbook Air need any Anti-virus? If yes then which one you prefer?

I'm about to order the 15" i7 soon. I'll leave the country to travel in Asia for 3 months this summer, so I will tend to be outdoors a lot. On daily basis, I'm a college student and freelance graphic designer - I usually use my computer in class or at home (not too much outdoors). I was debating about getting the regular glossy screen, or Hi-Res Anti-glare screen, just because the regular anti-glare doesn't seem to be offered. And sadly, it costs $150 extra ($135 for educational discount). I read somewhere a while ago, matte screen gives more accurate colors on the screen, while glossy gives more popping and vivid colors. Tough choice for me. Based on what I mentioned above, do you guys recommend me to get the Hi-Res Anti-glare screen? Is it really worth the money? What's good and bad about both of them?
Has anybody gone from glossy to AG and found anything that irritates them about the AG screen?Does it seem weaker without the glass enforcement?Does dust collect around the edges of the screen since it isnt end to end? What about cleaning it?
I was wondering if any of you know of a screen protector made for the 15" AnitGlare Screen fitting the inside of the Silver edge, the only ones that I ve found are for the Glossy screen and makes the screen 'AG'
So all I want is a normal Screen protector that fit the 15" AG screen.
I need to purchase some of the orange anti-static tape that Apple uses to cover the connections on logic boards. I recently fixed a MBP (2.4GHz SR 15") and need to find some tape for the board. I know it isn't a completely crucial component, however, I would like to make my computer look as if it were new. If anyone knows where to buy this tape, the exact tape, not another version, please post a reply or email me. Thank you.
I just bought & wasted $20+ on the Photodon anti-glare protector for my 13" MBP. The speckling/rainbow effect on white pages just killed it for me even though the anti-glare was nice and the protector was well made. I've read that due to the extra glass panel between the display and the protector, it's hard to get a decent ant-glare shield.
The Moshi iVisor AG doesn't actually adhere to the glass and I may give it a shot next. Anyone have one? If so, how does it work? In theory, it should work better than the Photodon but would really like to hear from someone before I drop another $40 and wait with bated breath for the USPS guy again only to be let down.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the NuShield screen protector specifically the DayVue type. It is supposedly anti-reflective (similar to what you would find on eyeglasses) which differs from anti glare in the way it goes about reducing the reflected light. It should reduce the reflections without making the image blurry. But I wanted to see if anyone else had tried it before giving it a go. It has a money back guarantee including up to 5 bucks for return shipping so I may try it anyways.
what the safest method for cleaning the anti-glare screens is on the unibodies. On my glossy a simple damp lint-free cloth works perfectly, but I have a feeling that over time that method of cleaning may actually rub/ruin the antiglare surface, so I'm a bit worried.
I just got a new MBP 15 i5 2010 with a high-res anti-glare screen.
Manufacturer: 00000610 Model: 00009CBB Serial Number: 00000000 Manufacture Date: 00000000
Unfortunately the display doesn't show very light colors. (compared to my old MBP15 2007) If you look at the attached image [URL]
- at section 5 I can only see the Grey boxes from 235 to 247, and I CAN'T see any Grey box from 249 to 253. - at section 3 I can't see the Grey box at 5 all the other from 10 to 50 are fine.
Changing the brightness, playing around with different color profiles and resetting the system didn't solve this problem. I called Apple support and after some resets I was asked to compare my screen with the same make/year. Does anybody has the same 2010 MBP15 high-res anti-glare display and experiencing the same issue? Does your display work fine and is showing all the different Grey boxes?Other MBP owners: Can you see all Grey boxes on your MBP screen? My brothers 2009 MBP15 is showing all light Grey boxes from 235 to 251. 253 can't be seen
