I've been experiencing a problem lately with my Wifi, this started around last January where my Macbook Pro Wifi will be disconnected and reconnect within a few seconds, the period between the connection cut off varies sometimes short(3-5 minutes) sometimes long(1 hour?).
The weird thing is, this happens only when I use my house Wifi(NTL Ireland) and when I use my neighbor's Wifi which happens to be the same company(NTL) I do no experience this problem. And another weird thing is 2 of my housemates who are using PC do not have this problem and 1 of my housemate who is using mac also experiencing this problem, but the disconnection of the wifi of mine and her doesnt happen at the same time. I am so fed up with this, can anybody tell me what's the problem ? my macbook ? router ? broadband company ? weather ?
I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8. I just added a wifi network with a hidden SSID to my saved, preferred networks list. Unlike networks with visible SSIDs, my Mac won't automatically reconnect to it. I hate having to re-enter the password each time.Â

Several times my MBA (mid 2011) woke up by itself after setting it to sleep within a few seconds. Following appeared in the console:
kernel: Wake reason: EHC2kernel: The USB device HubDevice (Port 1 of Hub at 0xfa000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (2)kernel: The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 2 of Hub at 0xfa100000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (3)
I did a few resets (SMC etc.) and reinstalled Mac OS the first time. It didn't work. Then I did this all again and reinstalled Mac OS a second time. Both times I wiped the SSD. Now my MBA doesn't wake up again by itself. The Apple Hardware Test also was completed with no issues. But the above posted logs still show up when a wake it up by hitting the keyboard. Are these logs failure warnings or normal entries?

I've got a mac mini under my TV that I use as a media centre, however, all of the video content is stored on my Mac Pro. All of the video is accessed by two standard shared folders. However, everytime I restart my Mac Pro the shares obviously stop working. I'd like a way to automatically keep these shares alive. I think I'd need something that does the following and would be in a script of sorts (terminal script I guess):On bootup of OS X on the Mac Pro do the following:
1. Connect to the mac mini (maybe via ssh)
2. Close all existing shares on the mac mini
3. Initialise shares on the mac mini
On a different note, any idea how to execute a terminal script in the background at a set time every day? I've got a few lines of code that sync up my iPhoto and iTunes library across my machines and I'd like to schedule it to run at a certain time.
My 27" imac has suddenly disconnected from our wifi and will not reconnect even with the correct password.
Our PC's, macbook and iphone are all fine. I am operating on MAC OSX 10.6.6 and have not recently updated.

I have used my Imac for about six months without any problems.  All in a sudden it does not always reconect to my router after getting into sleeping mode (not always, but around 8 of 10 times it does not reconect). I have to click on my router that are listed among other routers that it picks up in the neighbours. Â
Imac is of course setup to automatically reconnect to my router in the settings. Â
I have restarted my router as well, and also renamed the router as well to be be sure there are no conflicts. My Router is a Thomson TG789vnÂ

I was on my Mac and this happens somewhat often. I loose wifi connection and I have to go to the little wifi tab and select my network again. It doesn't ask for my password but it connects again. I am quite irritated with this, and it is embarrassing when my friends who have pcs come over "you have got a stupid Mac!" I love my Mac I don't want to ruin its great reputation.

I have a hot corner to put the mac display to sleep. Whether I use that or I use the 3 buttons to put the mac display to sleep, it wakes up after a while (probably due to some activity on the net or msn etc...) Is there a way to keep it asleep until I wake it up manually?
View 3 Replies View RelatedPurchased machine in Dec. 07. All well till Nov. 08. Since then have noticed that it will go into standby then wake up. This happens regularly, sometimes after 1 hour, or 2 hours or a few minutes. Have tried to put it in 'sleep' mode but wakes up just the same. All day and all night. So tried "shut down' and it does it as well. Like a ghost is working it.
Have been in constant touch with APPLE CARE, and they made me get another user (test) and it did not seem to wake up in that user. Went back to my user and problem started again. Spoke with 2 product specialists and one said that it cannot be EYETV, as he had it on his Mac and it was fine. Second specialist said it is EYETV and I should contact Elgato. I did this and was sent a link to 'repair'. Followed the instructions and that did not help. 4 days later, my computer suddenly remained in stand by all day.
I was surprised and relieved. Than it started all over again. I am at my wits end. I can only make it stay shut down if I go to 'shut down' and wait for the screen to go black then turn it off at the power point. I am sure that I should not be doing this, but what else can I do? I will contact APPLE CARE again, but will wait for your reply first. Also, I get a little message saying...Time Machine Error. Unable to complete backup. An error occured while copying files to backup volume.
My Macbook Air is not connecting to wifi automatically even though my network is in the preferred network list. What shall I do?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my Wi-Fi adapter. Irregularly my Wi-Fi connection stucks with still showing that a connection should be there but the internet is not working. Anyhow I manually deactivate the whole Wi-Fi adapter and I cannot switch it on again. Same problem exists when sometimes awake the Macbook and then the adapter is again deactivated. In both cases just a restart helps to solve the problem. After that everythink is working perfect again. what to check? I'm not really familiarly with the log files..

In one location I my macbook pro will not connect to network vis wifi unless I click on the desired network. My preference is set to automatically join, but it does not seem to be working. It is wep pw protected by have provided the password. That is not the problem. As soon as I click on my connection it comes right on. But it will not join automatically.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf my wifi isn't turned on, my MBP chucks-up a warning saying none of my networks are available. So I close the box and turn on my wifi. My iPhone will then, without any further input, connect to my wifi.So why does my 1600 MacBook Pro need me to reselect it from my wifi list? Why can't it just see it and connect to it?!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Wireless network in my home using an Airport Base Station Extreme. The odd problem I have is for months my computer, a MBP, would stay logged onto it. I could have my computer in sleep mode and come to it in the morning and it would turn on and be logged on.
Now whenever my computer seems to go into sleep mode it either loses the wi-fi or it won't log onto it when it comes out of sleep mode. This never happened. I had some problems with my Airport Base Station Extreme after doing a firmware update so had to set up my home network again. I thought this was part of it but even removed the network from my MBP and set it up again and the same problem.

I have a brand spanking new iMac running Lion. I have it setup with different accounts - me, my wife, the kids,... Problem is when I switch accounts or log on it wont connect automatically to my home Cisco wifi router. I need to select it each time from the menu bar. For me this just very frustrating but for anyone visiting it pretty much means that they wont be able to use the computer as they thing that it isn't connected to the net. There has got to be some way to automatically connect to a network, it works perfectly each time on all of my windows devices. Anyone know how to fix this - its close to making me pack the thing up and send it back?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAt my uni campus they have wifi everywhere, but when you connect to it (which my mac does automatically) you have to go in through a login page before you can use it. How can i get it to login once it connects to the wifi (i do use other wifi connections which dont require login). There is no wifi password (just the login page). Other than for ease of use, the other reason i am doing this is because i am setting up my cam to take pictures of a thief if my mac were to be stolen (then upload to ftp). The more auto connected internet - the better.

I have to work with two different Wi-Fi (at home and office) one of which uses DHCP and other requires me to manually enter IP address. Right now I have to keep on changing Wi-Fi settings (putting IP addresses when at office and setting to DHCP at home) whenever I go from home to office and then do the reverse when I go from office to home. Can I automate that so I don't have to repeatedly fiddle with settings?Â

Every time my mac goes into standby the wifi connection needs to be manually joined, so trying to connect remotely is impossible without joining a wifi network manually.

This problem never happens with my MBP - and it is running a CCC Clone of the same 10.7.x system. But whenever I restart my iMac 20.5" it never automatically connects at startup. I always have to touch the wifi symbol in the menu. After that I don't need to select my home network - it will then find it and connect. But until I do that it doesn't connect. This has happened ever since I've gotten this iMac. Also annoying is that the sound output upon startup always defaults to my Logitech headset regardless of how I left it set in Sound settings.Â

My MacBook Pro (the newer silver models 2011) often stops charging, I have to unplug the charging pin and connect it again. It has turned it self off quite a few times on sudden power failure, mostly because it went under power while I assumed it was still charging. After that it also looses time and date settings.

I have a late 2011 model Macbook Pro, 10.7.5 OS and I've had no issues whatsoever up until a week ago. The night before if stopped working I did everything as usual, did some HW, emailing then I shut it down. I woke up the next morning and it wouldn't turn on so I figured it was dead, so I got my charger plugged it in and got no light, green or orange.
What I got was a faint green blinking on the charger light and my battery level indicator wasn't working. I thought it was my charger but it wasn't because worked fine on my girlfriend's Macbook. I googled and tried PRAM and SMC to no avail. I have to disconnect and reconnect the battery connector each time for it work. Other than this issue I have another problems, mac runs very slow while it's on and I shut it down or restart it for awhile after I reconnected the battery but if I try to turn it back on or restart it hours after I've done that then it won't work .Â
