Intel Mac :: Wifi Not Automatically Connecting?
Jun 22, 2012
I have my wi-fi set to automatically connect to recognized networks. My home network is saved in my network settings. Yet, anytime I restart the computer it fails to automatically log in. I have to manaually connect to the network every single time.

On Feb 18th 2012 4 new updates automatically installed. Since then, whenever I wake the Imac from sleep mode I have to manually re-connect to my wi-fi. Prior to the updates it did this automatically. I see nothing in Network or Airport Utility that controls this ("automatic" is already checked where appropriate). I'm running OS X Lion.

I recently switched cable providers to Time Warner. They set up a Ubee cable modem and all devices (IPhone, IPad, AppleTV, etc) are all connecting to the wireless network except my IMac.  I tried renewing my DHCP lease, updating to OS X Maverick but every time I try and connect I get an error message that says "Connection Time Out".Â

so my University uses the lovely Cisco VPN Client. Easy to get it working, not a big deal, but it annoys me that I need to start it manually every time I switch wifi networks and such. Is there a way to automate this? I want to connect to the VPN whenever the Airport logs into one of the University's wifi networks. The Cisco client also supports command-line mode, so I could write a script for that. But the big question is: is there a "connected to wifi network" event I can hook into using AppleScript or something.

My computer used to connect to the internet straight away as it was turned on (wireless), but after a problem with downloading rental films with Itunes store, it has stopped connecting automatically. The fix for the film rentals was to delete a file called SC i think. I have had a dig around in all the network tabs

I'm using a Macbook Pro OS X and was wondering if there is a way to stop my airport/wireless internet from automatically connecting to the internet when i start my computer.I want it so that it disconnects from the internet when i close the lid and for it to stay disconnected until i manually reconnect it myself again. I'm currently connected to shared internet which does not require me to enter a password.

If my wifi isn't turned on, my MBP chucks-up a warning saying none of my networks are available. So I close the box and turn on my wifi. My iPhone will then, without any further input, connect to my wifi.So why does my 1600 MacBook Pro need me to reselect it from my wifi list? Why can't it just see it and connect to it?!

I recently reinstalled MAC OS X on my unibody MBP. I've installed all the updates and it's been working fine until now. When it goes to sleep automatically I press a key and it wakes up then the Airport icon in the bar at the top of the desktop stays greyed out. I have to go in and manually connect to my router each time the machine wakes from sleep.

I have a MacPro and a Macbook. Recently I used the sharing function to play a game with my friend where I connected the two computers to a shared folder. I also installed Hamachi and used that for creating a VPN-network. Now I have erased the shared folder, uninstalled Hamachi and disabled the sharing function, but my MacPro still automatically tries to connect to my Macbook. The message is as following "There was a problem connecting to the server "MickiMacbook". "The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP adresss, check your network connection, and then try again". Â
I don't really understand why it keeps doing this as I've deleted all of the previously used programs. I've also deleted all of the files in /Library/PDF Services: but that did not work.

I have a Wireless network in my home using an Airport Base Station Extreme. The odd problem I have is for months my computer, a MBP, would stay logged onto it. I could have my computer in sleep mode and come to it in the morning and it would turn on and be logged on.
Now whenever my computer seems to go into sleep mode it either loses the wi-fi or it won't log onto it when it comes out of sleep mode. This never happened. I had some problems with my Airport Base Station Extreme after doing a firmware update so had to set up my home network again. I thought this was part of it but even removed the network from my MBP and set it up again and the same problem.

I have a brand spanking new iMac running Lion. I have it setup with different accounts - me, my wife, the kids,... Problem is when I switch accounts or log on it wont connect automatically to my home Cisco wifi router. I need to select it each time from the menu bar. For me this just very frustrating but for anyone visiting it pretty much means that they wont be able to use the computer as they thing that it isn't connected to the net. There has got to be some way to automatically connect to a network, it works perfectly each time on all of my windows devices. Anyone know how to fix this - its close to making me pack the thing up and send it back?

At my uni campus they have wifi everywhere, but when you connect to it (which my mac does automatically) you have to go in through a login page before you can use it. How can i get it to login once it connects to the wifi (i do use other wifi connections which dont require login). There is no wifi password (just the login page). Other than for ease of use, the other reason i am doing this is because i am setting up my cam to take pictures of a thief if my mac were to be stolen (then upload to ftp). The more auto connected internet - the better.

I have a problem with my Wi-Fi adapter. Irregularly my Wi-Fi connection stucks with still showing that a connection should be there but the internet is not working. Anyhow I manually deactivate the whole Wi-Fi adapter and I cannot switch it on again. Same problem exists when sometimes awake the Macbook and then the adapter is again deactivated. In both cases just a restart helps to solve the problem. After that everythink is working perfect again. what to check? I'm not really familiarly with the log files..

I have to work with two different Wi-Fi (at home and office) one of which uses DHCP and other requires me to manually enter IP address. Right now I have to keep on changing Wi-Fi settings (putting IP addresses when at office and setting to DHCP at home) whenever I go from home to office and then do the reverse when I go from office to home. Can I automate that so I don't have to repeatedly fiddle with settings?Â

I'm in the process of a full-bore triple-boot (Mavericks, Win7, Ubuntu) reinstall, and I've run into a problem with Bootcamp 5's Wifi driver for Win7/64. When I try to connect, it sees the WEP network in my house, but when I try to connect, I get a previously unseen sequence. The first message says it's collecting data from the network, and the next one is a "Network Authentication" prompt for User name and password. For the last couple of years (before the reinstall), I just got a simple WEP passphrase prompt. So how do I get this working? I did get one "Driver installation failed" message, but when I clicked "for details" the message just disappeared. All the other important drivers seem to be working just fine, it's just this odd wifi connection behavior that I've noticed and can't resolve. The wifi works just fine under Mavericks.Â

My daughter came to me with this problem and I am unable to fix it. Her account on her macbook pro has Safari and Google Chrome and both do not load pages. The wifi has full bars, but the websites do not load. At the bottom left corner on Chrome it says "Establishing Wi-fi Connection" but it seems to never actually establish the connection. On the admin account on her mac, everything works fine; this problem seems to only happen with her account. The wifi is ask great on all other electronics. I rarely use the admin account; it was only created to put Parental Controls on her account. However, now she has to use the admin account for homework and cannot use her original account. My daughter told me that this problem has been happening for a few months now, but it only happened occasionally and was easily solved by restarting Safari or Google Chrome. However, recently it has been happening a lot more often.

I have a problem connecting to the wifi from my macbook pro and my iphone. I have a D-Link DI-624 router. When there?s no password, both connect to the internet just fine. However, when I enable a WEP network key I cannot connect because it keeps asking me for a username and password, not the network key. Which username and password is it asking me for?
