Intel Mac :: Post Lion Upgrade WiFi Won't Automatically Connect
Apr 2, 2012
Since the Lion upgrade, my desktop will not auto-connect to my home WiFi. Macbook Pro running same upgrade acts appropriately...Already tried renewing DHCP, resetting router etc..
Info:
iMac (21.5-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I have a brand spanking new iMac running Lion. I have it setup with different accounts - me, my wife, the kids,... Problem is when I switch accounts or log on it wont connect automatically to my home Cisco wifi router. I need to select it each time from the menu bar. For me this just very frustrating but for anyone visiting it pretty much means that they wont be able to use the computer as they thing that it isn't connected to the net. There has got to be some way to automatically connect to a network, it works perfectly each time on all of my windows devices. Anyone know how to fix this - its close to making me pack the thing up and send it back?
Every time my mac goes into standby the wifi connection needs to be manually joined, so trying to connect remotely is impossible without joining a wifi network manually.
At my uni campus they have wifi everywhere, but when you connect to it (which my mac does automatically) you have to go in through a login page before you can use it. How can i get it to login once it connects to the wifi (i do use other wifi connections which dont require login). There is no wifi password (just the login page). Other than for ease of use, the other reason i am doing this is because i am setting up my cam to take pictures of a thief if my mac were to be stolen (then upload to ftp). The more auto connected internet - the better.
i upgraded my Netgear DG834PN router to the latest firmware and changed the security to WPA2 encryption and ever since then my MBP doesn't snap back on to the WiFi automatically? when selected manually, it connects fine, just not automatically after sleep or being away from the house?
I have my wi-fi set to automatically connect to recognized networks. My home network is saved in my network settings. Yet, anytime I restart the computer it fails to automatically log in. I have to manaually connect to the network every single time.
How do I get my Mac to select my Wi-fi network automatically? It used to do it on its own and now it goes into Network Diagnstic and I have to select. It used to work and now every time I go online I need to reconnect to my wi-fi.
This problem never happens with my MBP - and it is running a CCC Clone of the same 10.7.x system. But whenever I restart my iMac 20.5" it never automatically connects at startup. I always have to touch the wifi symbol in the menu. After that I don't need to select my home network - it will then find it and connect. But until I do that it doesn't connect. This has happened ever since I've gotten this iMac. Also annoying is that the sound output upon startup always defaults to my Logitech headset regardless of how I left it set in Sound settings.Â

I don't know what to do. I installed Leopard over 10.4.10 as an upgrade on my iMac C2D and after the system rebooted into Leopard for the first time, I can't login to the admin account. I just doesn't accept the password anymore! My second non-admin account works, but I'm completely locked out of the admin account! Even worse, I can't reset the password using the utility on the Leopard Boot Disk. The password reset utility doesn't seem to work! I really don't know what to do. I didn't backup before the install (I bought a second drive and was planning on backing up with Time Machine after Leopard was installed). I'm locked out of my own computer.
I upgraded to 10.1 and have been working with Libraries for a while now however there are some projects I decided not to move into the new version. Now I need to open then and the project folders are not recognised when trying to import?Â
Here you can see that the Final Cut Projects folder cannot be selected?
Is there an option in Mac OS X Lion (10.7.3) where I can set my system to automatically login to my university's remote folders and drives on their network?
We lost our BT internet connection for a few days. BT eventually sorted it out and it was caused by a problem at the exchange.Â
Before this, the imac automatically connected to the internet whenever we booted up. Now it doesn't and we have to reconnect to the internet each time we boot up. I don't really know the correct way to do this, but what I am doing to connect is to open Safari which then says it can't connect and offers a diagnostics page where I can then go through a process to reconnect. Then it reconnects fine, buty the next time I boot up I have to go through the same process again.Â
So I've got an odd problem, here's the scenario: 27" iMac 2.8GHz Quad Core running OS X 10.7.1, and a netgear router (connected to a Comcast modem). It sees the network, connects then drops the network. However, a MacBook Air running 10.6.8, an iPad, and a Sony Viao running Windows 7 can connect and stay connected to the network fine. This made me think that something with the iMac's WiFi card is broken so we brought it to work and connected it to our network (802.11x, WPA2 Enterprise, Cisco routers) and it worked perfectly. He brought it back home, still couldn't connect to his network. We brought it to the campus Apple store and they replaced the airport card and it seemed to resolve the problem for a bit, but now the issue has come back.Yesterday we did a full time machine back up, wiped the hard drive and did a full OS X Lion re-install and restored from the Time Machine back up, ran all of the Apple software updates and it connected to the WiFi here at work fine.Brought it home, still won't connect to his network. This would make me think that it's an issue with his home network but all the other devices are working fine.We had a Comcast technician look at the network and they found nothing wrong.
I have an older (white) iMac that connects wirelessly to my Linksys router. I bought a new iMac and I am unable to connect both iMacs wirelessly at the same time. I was wondering if the issue had to do with using the same Apple ID's, but I don't think that is the case. It seems like the old iMac is connected to the router, the new one wont connect and vise versa.
I've seen this question asked before, but it was all related to people who are running lion. I have 10.5.8, which I believe is leopard. Whenever I try to connect to airport, I get my network from the list, enter the password then I get a connection timeout after about 15 seconds. We have had this problem for a while now. We just got a new router this week and I'm still have this problem.
I have a 2 month old Mac and I love it when it connects to my WiFi. I have the pass words and all programed in and it dont want to connect when I fire it up all the time.
My Imac (mid 2007 snow leopard) doenst connect to wifi any more. it used to work but is seems broken. (nothing changed at the network)Â It doens recognize networks but when ik try to connect it times out.
I tried serveral networks, even removed te password protection of the net works but it doens connect. I tryed the hardware test by pressing D at start up but it dint gave any errors..Â
My macbook pro connects normally and all by other wifi devices work fine..Â
Wifi unusable after upgrade to Lion..My computer is a MacBook Pro early 2008.After upgrading Snow Leopard to Lion, my wifi connection have become weird. In wifi networks that were added in snow leopard, there are no problems. But in a wifi network added after the upgrade to Lion, the wifi connection is so slow that even safari can't open a webpage. I have already trie do reset PRAM and NVRAM and deleting and turning off/Reset cycle (url....) and my wifi connection become normal (i could open a webpage as usual) for 5 minutes. Afterwards, it become so slow again that i can't even open a webpage. Moreover, i am able to ping google.com in terminal. My wifi chipset is a broadcom. I have the latest updates installed. I am able to connect the internet and surf as usual in my ipad and iPhone.

Mac won't connect to internet even though wifi is connected. Message "network configuration has changed". I click on assist and the end result is that the wifi disconnects and I get the same message. Other devices connect to the wifi like my itouch and husbands laptop that runs windows. What do I need to do to get this to run? Previous times when this happened I was able to go through the diagnostic steps to reconnect and wifi would connect to internet not anymore.
