MacBook Pro :: Won't Charge IPhone 5s
Jun 4, 2014My iPhone charges nicely using respectively the charger, but also my iMac (using the USB port in the wired keybord).But when I use that same cable in my MacBookPro11,2, the phone seems to be toggeling between charging and not every half second, and is vibrating during it all. (The vibration causes the battery to drain instead of charging )Â
Now, since the cable is a 3rd party cable, that is a possible cause, but then why would it work in the iMac and the charger?I guess there could be some chip inside the cable which could be checked by the MacBookPro11,2 deeming it invalid - but why doesn't that happen with my iMac? its a late 2009 model (27").
I guess the difference seems to be that the macbook has USB 3.0 ports, and I'm betting that the iMac does not?I just wan't to be able to charge my phone with my expensive macbook, so that I don't need to bring USB chargers.

Oct 22, 2009Id like to have the calendar she sets up on the new iMac to sync with my MBP and my iPhone so that we can stay on the same page when it comes to whats going on with work and our two children. Can this be done across my wireless network? I have the Airport Extreme WBS (802.11n)if that makes a difference.
We both use calendars quite a bit... My iPhone is setup with my MBP, and since i travel quite a bit i need to keep it that way.

Jul 10, 2009When I put Windows 7 into sleep mode (not hibernate), it stops charging my iphone 3GS. I've always charged my phone this way in mac os x, and would like to avoid having to reboot just to put it to sleep in Leopard I have a macbook pro penryn, with Windows 7 RC 64-bit. I've searched the forums and didn't find anything. The internet suggestions seemed computer specific or involved a slightly scary hack involving "always-on usb".

I created a folder and placed the photos in ascending order by name.I then reversed the order and saved it in a new folder.I created an album from this folder and the pictures appeared in ascending order.I reversed these and created a slideshow which the pictures again appeared in ascending order and I cannot reverse them.There are 250 photos and changing them manually does not sound fun.

Feb 12, 2008I have my daughter's accounts setup with parental controls (she's 9). I use the Parental Controls to limit the apps that she has access to so she does not get into trouble with applications that she should not be using.
I was working in my daughter's accounts the other day and I accessed the "System Preferences" application. Because this was one of the applications that I blocked, I was prompted (something to the effect of): This application is blocked by parental controls do you want to "Always Allow access", "Allow Access One Time", "Cancel"
I selected "Always allow" by accident. Now, when I go into parental controls, the "System Preferences" box is still unchecked, indicating that it should not be accessible by my daughter - but, when I go into my daughter's account, she has free/clear access to system preferences. I've tried checking and unchecking the Systems Preferences in parental controls, but it does not block access.

Dec 9, 2009Thinking that the contents of Finder's images folder were merely a history of images accessed, I placed the entire contents (2,020 images) of the folder into the waste bin. I realized my error upon opening my photos folder and seeing that no photos appeared.
Is there a way to reverse that transfer of images into the waste bin?
I couldn't highlight and move all the waste bin contents back into the images folder, so I tried moving just one image from the waste bin into the folder, but without success.
OS X V10.7 Lion :: Reverse DNS Hostname Keeps Changing
Jun 21, 2012I work in an IT environment where we are adding more and more Macs every day. I have been charged with researching joining Macs to the domain. Before, we've had them unbound but we've decided to change that.Our environment is nearly entirely Windows based on the server-side. On Windows 2008 R2 servers we run DHCP, DNS, and AD. The problem is that when I bind a computer to the the domain, the hostname changes in the terminal window to one owned by an IP address previously. I'm worried that this might interfere with applications / scripts that run in the terminal.
I read that there is a hostname config file in OSX that can be configured to override this. I'd rather not do this for every computer in the domain though. Even if it could be scripted I'd have to manually type every hostname..not fun. I've read that enabling dynamic DNS on the DNS server should fix this but it doesn't appear to. We have "Always dynamically update DNS A and PTR records" checked and also "Dynamically update DNS A and PTR records for DHCP clients that do not request updates"
On the Mac client I've tried enabling and disabling the enable dyanmic DNS checkbox..
Is there a way to change this via a switch either on the backend or in the client itself without having to change that hostname file?

Jul 27, 2010When I first installed iWork the document would be centered on the screen and viewing it in fullscreen mode would have the document centered with black on both sides. While toggleing a few settings to try things out I realized the document was now shoved into the upper-left portion of the window, with large gray areas to the right and below. Also, when I activate fullscreen, the document is on the left half and there is a huge gray box on the right. I am wondering what setting I changed, and how to reverse the large gray catastrophe.

In the Bluetooth Setup Assistant the macbook sees the iPhone 3G, but they don't connect after I accept the connect on the iPhone 3G. The codes on the Macbook and iPhone are the same and, therefore, should connect.
I've searched the Apple Discussions (support) but there is no answer there.
