May 6, 2012Safari has frozen after I tried to quit it, I can't open or close any programs, force quit, use shortcuts or use any open programs as the safari bar still appears at the top of the screen, I would force shut down but I've got an after effects project open.

OS X :: Frozen - Finder And Desktop - Don't Have Permission To Open Certain Programs
Sep 17, 2010The Mac OS X on the system has suddenly frozen her out of everything but the finder and the desktop. It boots fine and pops up on the desktop, and everything looks completely normal. But when you want to run an application and click on it, a big fat question mark appears over the icon in the bottom menu, no matter what application you click on. Further more it appears that all applications has been wiped from the system when you enter the applications folder. It is completely empty.
Now I've tried to click on different stuff, such as the internet, to turn it off, but nothing happens. I've also tried to enter the OSX preferences, but nothing happens when I do. At times it comes up with the message that you don't have permission to open certain programs, even though the programs apparently dont exist on the Mac. I've interrogated my girlfriend about her activity, and she swears she has done nothing out of the ordinary like download shady software or anything, and apparently all of this has come like lightning from a clear sky.

Sep 4, 2014I am on mac laptop OSX 10.9.2 using Mail 7.2. I tried to open a "Mailer Daemon" message and it is frozen, not even open but a grey colored blank "message". I've tried: closing the message unsuccessfullyForce Quitting the application (reads "Mail (not Responding)") when I do. (4 times)Turning off the entire computer, letting it rest and rebooting. (3 times)Opening up my server on the internet and deleting the offensive message "mailer daemon"Turning off the computer again.Â
So...as soon as I open mail, the grey "message" is open. I can click on the Mail Viewer window and have that come forward, but all is frozen.Just did it again and it hasn't changed. Had to force quit again. Never before in 8 years of using the Mail application (different computers). The rainbow wheel of death spins and spins.Â

Dec 30, 2009I have a Windows Desktop PC, Windows Laptop and an iMac plus Macbook Pro, on the desktop pc Safari will not open [URL], yet on my Windows Laptop it will! Both are the same version of Safari, I have uninstalled and re installed Safari with no joy.
Does anyone know how to do a clean uninstall of Safari on Windows, because I think that may solve it.

Jul 7, 2010I tried in Safari and Mozilla and I can't seem to open a link on this website and I know I can open it with no problem on my PC. the website is [URL]... and I can navigate to that site, but when I click on any of the links like education, it says "you have chosen to open index.php file, what should mozilla do with this file?". I want to tell it to open it up so I can see it, but we don't seem to speak the same language.

Feb 20, 2009I have a 4.1 Macbook, and in Safari developer 4 or Firefox 3, I can't open the website. I am connected through an ethernet cable, and it previously worked. It either doesn't load or it forwards me to "cjb.net." It doesn't work in Parallels Mozilla or IE either on ethernet. But in bootcamp, it works. The site also works on my Mac side when I'm connected through airport wireless. Why doesn't it work in ethernet only on the Mac side?

Mac Pro :: Frozen Macbook When Powered Up On Battery / Fix It?
Apr 15, 2009My battery seems to have lost the plot. I can turn my machine on when running off the battery and it fires up as normal. Once it gets to my desktop everything is frozen. The arrow is always stuck in the top left corner and the only thing that works is the power button, but I can't even turn it off because I can't select switch off.
It works fine if I take the battery out and run off the adaptor but kinda defeats the purpose of having a laptop.

The most recent time that I used it I Restarted my macbook and the mouse was frozen and I couldn't move it, even after like 5 minutes. So I did a hard restart and everything started up just fine.
