My mouse is frozen.

I have a 15" 2.53 GhZ Macbook pro with 4 GB Ram. I am using Onyx for cleaning disk permissions as well as flushing the cache and other maintenance because I heard great things about it. The most recent time that I used it I Restarted my macbook and the mouse was frozen and I couldn't move it, even after like 5 minutes. So I did a hard restart and everything started up just fine.

I have a 2007 2.2Ghz "Santa Rosa" MBP, which I've had quite the problems with for the past 3 (soon to be 4) years. Just starting this week, if I'm on Safari or iChat for instance, Mac OS X freezes and everything stops... yet the mouse cursor can still move. Very soon, the screen starts flashing black and white over the frozen screen (with Safari, iChat, or whatever still open and visible behind the intense flickering). This flickering only goes on for a few seconds though; but the system remains frozen, requiring a manual shut-down and reboot.
Any ideas what's going on? It just started recently. Software has been completely up to date. Somehow I'm paranoid that the graphics card issue is coming back to haunt me again (I've had it replaced once already) but it doesn't seem like that's it.
The mouse cursor on my G4 (see specs below) is frozen. The mouse I usually use is a standard apple mouse purchased about seven years ago. I have tried another mouse (no success) and rebooted using the installation disc in the hope of a disc repair, but again no mouse cursor movement. I am at a loss as to what to do next.
View 6 Replies View Relatedlast night my imac semi froze on me. it's weird because I can still use my BT keyboard and mouse but when i try to click on anything it doesn't work. now the dashboard and expose functions work as well as do keyboard shortcuts but when i try to click on any icon nothing responds. it's like everything on the computer seems to be working except for clicking.

View 1 Replies View RelatediMac starts up as normal. Once it is on desktop, will not open anything. Have new snow leopard to install, put disk in and it pops up on desktop, however just like anything else I cannot click or open it. I have unplugged, restarted, used command-option-escape( which does bring up "Force quit" box, but again I cannot click open or select anything.

Mac Book pro has frozen and won't reboot?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought the latest macbook pro. It is actually my first mac so I'm not really sure if this is supposed to happen. But I tried plugging in my "ordinary pc" (meant to say that is not a Mac mouse) mouse which is an A4Tech brand. It's working when I move the mouse in huge spaces. It goes smoothly that way. But when I try to move it in small little spaces, it's kind of like not going smoothly. Especially when I'm working on small details like Photoshop, it's kind of difficult to maneuver the mouse arrow. I tried other "pc" mouse as well but it's just the same.. Does this really happen if I'm not using Mac's mouse? How do I fix this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from a MBA rev A to a rev B. I experienced this with both machines, so it's not just a rev A issue...
I use a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse and everything is fine... until my hourly wireless Time Machine backup starts. Then the mouse cursor becomes very choppy and sluggish. As soon as the hourly backup completes, the mouse's responsiveness returns to normal. Throughout all this, the trackpad is just as responsive as always -- no change there. I don't have another bluetooth mouse to see if its just the Mighty Mouse.
When this happens, the Activity Monitor is not spiked. The fans aren't running loud (so I don't expect its an overheating issue). This doesn't happen during a large wireless download -- just Time Machine. It's not a big deal, but rather an annoyance.
Any ideas why? Or even more to the point, any ideas on how to fix it?
I'm using a Logitech MX 518 mouse. It was working fine with the exception of the two side buttons; they weren't set up the way I liked and the mouse control panel did not let me change them. I installed some Logitech drivers (lcc213) that were supposed to support the mouse; upon reinstalling the mouse was not recognized by the Logitech software. The scroll wheel became very sluggish (maybe scrolling one line, and seemingly no acceleration). I removed the Logitech software and restarted, but now my mouse is stuck that way - moving the scroll speed in the Mouse preferences all the way to the left or all the way to the right makes no difference.
Is there any way to reset the mouse drivers or whatever might be messed up, short of a reinstall?
I even tried to use USB Overdrive and that likewise has no effect on the scroll speed.
If I pair a bluetooth mouse to my Macbook Pro, will it wake itself up inside it's bag (potentially over heating it and killing my batter) if it receives input from the mouse?
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery once in a while the mouse pad will stop working. A wireless mouse will work in its place. The keyboard will also act extremely slow during this time. It seems like the buffer is full and it moves on to the next letter i type without using the previously typed letter.Â

My battery seems to have lost the plot. I can turn my machine on when running off the battery and it fires up as normal. Once it gets to my desktop everything is frozen. The arrow is always stuck in the top left corner and the only thing that works is the power button, but I can't even turn it off because I can't select switch off.
It works fine if I take the battery out and run off the adaptor but kinda defeats the purpose of having a laptop.
My macbook pro froze while trying to update today so i did a force shutdown of my mac (help power button down for 10 seconds) when i went to turn on my mac and log in it brought me to the screen with the mac icon in the center and the spinning icon under it and it sits there trying to load but nothing happens. i would simply just do a reinstall of the system but i do not have the install cd's.

I am not a computer technician. However, I believe my computer has a virus. It has some sychadelic pattern that is present when I start it up and will not let me access anything. This is the first time in six years that this has happened. If I can "dump" everything and then start from scratch, that would be OK. I just want my laptop to work again-I need it for school.

I have a MacBook Pro, running Lion. My laptop seems to have slowed down in terms of opening programs, and often, Finder will get stuck with the spinning ball. I also have an external hard drive attached to the laptop, and accessing the external often brings up the spinning ball.Â
The external drive has a capacity of 299.72 GBÂ Â Â Â and 191.97 GBÂ Â Â Â is how much is free.Â
For the laptop, the numbers are 249.07 GB capacity and 184.34 GB free. I regularly run the Disk Utility to check/repair permissions. Is there any way to determine why things are running slow, and/or if I need a new external drive?Â

I just got my macbook pro in march. Yesterday, the screen began to occasionally freeze (but other things like audio would continue to play) and slowly get brighter and brighter until it either turned completely white with a few small black stripes, or revert back to the regular screen and function normally. It has been happening more and more frequently recently.
