I am wanting to upgrade the Hard drive to a 500-700GB range, can anyone recommend a Hard Drive that would work well with this MacBook Pro? I have read online that while some hard drives are ranked really good, sometimes people have issues when installing in a Mac with clicking sounds, etc.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy neighbor is a Windows PC user and showed me the neatest hardware. It's called an Intel Scanner. He's able to scan barcodes of all his CD's and save it on his computer together with all the information. That is the songs, album artwork, etc. Does anyone know if there is such a scanner for the Mac?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, i know the best protection for the Mac is just 'common sense', but what if you teacher wife downloads files from any random site she can find? Add to that it seems we have been the victim of credit card fraud (not sure how, not necessarily via the Mac either).
Anyway, i want to do a scan for viruses and spyware. Anyone know a good option for this? Doesn't have to be free although that would be nice.
I'm looking to buy a scanner to scan old documents and photos. I also have lots of negatives of different sizes (both black-and-white and color). Most scanner companies don't put an emphasis on making good Mac drivers, and I know a lot of printers and scanners are not compatible with Macs running Snow Leopard. Can anyone recommend a good scanner that has a solid, updated driver and great support for scanning film negatives?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to begin scanning in all my various documents, receipts, bills, etc.
Can someone advise me on what is best for use with the Mac? Nicer if there were OCR capabilities, too.
What about software to collate and manage all these resulting files?
I just joined mac rumors because I'm tired of windows and I'm thinking of buying a mac. My first question is any idea why apple doesn't offer a biometric scanner?
Second question. Has apple ever offered financing for their products, and I don't mean That lousy Juniper card. I was thinking of getting a MBP,MAC and an I MAC and that is a lot of money , just wish Apple had financing like Dell or the other computer companies.
I have a Canoscan 4400F which is not recognised by my MBP (early 2008) or my iMac (early 2007). (Error message is 'Unable to find driver'.) Despite installing various drivers which are supposed to be Leopard compatible, no luck so far.
Does anyone know of a driver which will work, or alternatively if I have to replace, a recommend a reasonably priced scanner which is Leopard compatible. Scanner will primarily be used for scanning documents for archiving and old photo prints for adding to iPhoto.
I found an old scanner in my house and I wanted to connect it to my sisters Macbook. I've connected the power cord to the mains and the USB cable into the Macbook, the light is on on the scanner but I don't know what to do next. The scanner is a few years old so I don't know if it needs an install CD.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use my OLD HP scanjet 3300C with my imac 10.6.2. There are no drivers, system preference doesn't let me add the scanner, google search just confused me. Does anybody know how I can get this scanner working properly.
View 3 Replies View RelatedCan someone recommend me a decent negative scanner? I want to digitise all my old photo negatives in a format good enough to keep in iPhoto and upload to Flickr. I'm not interested in ultra professional resolution, but something in the region of 5MP would be good enough.
I've read that Veho are going to be updating their scanner hardware to work with the Mac, but I've heard some stories about the quality being awful. I wish someone would actually upload some of the results so we could decide for ourselves, but it has put me off.
I don't want to spend a fortune, but I am willing to spend a decent amount of money (low hundreds of , NOT thousands!!) to get what I want.
This scanner was able to scan 3D objects as if they were photographed professionally, if you put a colored cloth behind the object. Great depth of field. Used to have one, I just bought several of them, I have a beige G3, but I have no software/driver. Where to go?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought me a brand new Canon DR-2020U, but to my dismay, I noticed that it doesn't have OS X drivers, and OS X doesn't even flinch when I connect the scanner to it.
I googled for drivers, but the official site does not say anything about those drivers. I have, of course, the Windows drivers and I can operate it through Parallels, but I feel a little stupid for paying $700 for a scanner which does not have necessary drivers to operato on my OS X.
how to get the scanner on a Canon MP800 scanner/printer to scan with Lion software. I've installed the Canon Version 3.0.4 driver but it still doesn't work.

I have a HP Photosmart B110 printer/scanner and I'm running OSX 10.7 Lion, I have no dramas printing but the scanner is not recognised. If I go to System preferences> Print & Scan, it shows the printer but won't show the scanner!! I obviously want and need to use the scanner but am unable!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I bought a HP Photosmart C4480 all in one scanner/printer a few days ago. On the day it was bought, during set up, i was able to scan. Now when i try to scan it says 'scanner not initialised (scanner not found). I'm able to print and copy and have spoken to HP support who said that the hardware is fine, and recommended that i try mac support as it could be an issue with communication or software.

I have a seagate 1 TB w/ 32 mb cache in my mac pro as additional backup. I was going to try that in a different enclosure, but I don't want to do that if i'm going to get the same results.
Which cooler do you recommend for the HD 4870? I just got my Mac Pro and while it's not dreadfully noisy, I can hear the gpu fan, it hums a bit. I've seen the Thermalright T-Rad2 VGA Coolers - but are they any good for the Ati cards that ship from Apple?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm in need of a new multifunction printer. I'd like it to have Wi-Fi, duplex printing, and a document feeder, but if I can get a wi-fi one really inexpensive, I might be able to do without those luxuries.
I don't need anything with awesome photo capabilities, but would like the wi-fi so I can put it where I want it, not near my MacBook or my router.
I'm looking at HPs (I've used them for the past 10 years), Epson, or Canon. I'm assuming most of them are going to be compatible with Mac OS X, but just would like everyone's input on which model I should get. HP has one for $170, and that's really pushing the high end of my budget, just so y'all know what I'm looking at.
I'm wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a 22"-24" widescreen monitor. Ideally, it should have VGA, a couple of USB ports, a fairly high resolution, and no more than $350-$400.
