MacBook Air :: Fan Not Working - Ran Applications

Just got the Time Capsule yesterday, left the MBA all night to finish the initial backup. Everything went just fine. In the morning at the office, turned on the MBA and the fan stayed at 0 RPM. Ran some apps just to make the temperature go up a bit, no luck, the fan is still off. Then ran the hardware test and it returned an error with the fan. Took the laptop to a Genius, once turned the laptop on, the fan was fully operational @ 2500 RPM. I was like WTH, it was off all day. Anyway, so far, the fan has been running properly since the incident. It used to kick in (6200rpm) at 62C. Now, it does so only at +80C. The MBA is so quite now! Love it even more Not sure what happened today, but I'm sure it is WAY better! The fan stays at 2500 almost all the time.

I just got a mac book pro and I transferred all my applications from my old g4 but handbrake doesn't work the same or doesn't at all. It takes very long to scan and it doesn't let me rip. I tried the same dvd on my old g4 and it worked just fine so it's not the dvd.

My sister just bought a refurbished 13" MacBook Pro?The built-in camera is "flickering," but it appears to only be happening in applications made by Apple, or at least ones preinstalled on the computer. The applications affected that I have tested are: iMovie, FaceTime, Photo Booth, and iChat. It's not really a "flicker," per se, but large horizontal chunks of the video will displace and often show up as green -- it all moves very rapidly -- very hard to explain, but it is definitely not normal behavior.
iChat takes the issue a step further: the camera preview in iChat Preferences shows nothing but a blank screen. The camera works flawlessly in Skype, and also in web browers thorugh Adobe Flash. So, I am very certain this is not a hardware issue. It also worked perfectly during the setup walkthrough when the computer was first turned on and it had her take a photo for her user account. I've tried resetting application preferences by deleting the preference files, resetting PRAM and SMC, shutting down/restarting the computer, and I've applied all possible Software Updates. System Information (formerly System Profiler) shows the camera under USB, so the computer is recognizing it. Finally, we called Apple and they said to reinstall OS X, which my sister just did. The problem's still there. It wasn't a "clean" install though, because all of her files and preferences were kept in-tact, so maybe that is why.

Recently, in the middle of working with applications in iPhoto09 they simply crash. I get a message stating no harm was done but it's getting annoying as it's happening more often than not. I am new to mac, have had it now for maybe two weeks, but wouldnt expect apps to crash this often. Any thoughts?

I'm yet to figure out a pattern, but my Macbook Pro's keyboard will just stop working for several minutes at a time at random points in time...Even if I hit caps or num lock, they don't turn green. Sometimes it'll just happen once every few hours, but I was in class the other day and it would work for a minute, then not work for a few, than work for another minute, etc.

F3 and my right shift key have suddenly become play/pause keys in addition to their original functions. My F8 doesn't really do anything anymore and does not even light up in Keyboard View. I've tried to use Sizzling Keys, and reset Keyboard Shortcuts but the problem still persists. It seems to affect most music playing programs (iTunes and Vox. I have a Macbook Model 5,2 and Mac OS X 10.5.8

I recently spilled a protein shake over my mb pro. It spilled on the right side, but I quickly cleaned it with a wet tissue and dried it up. The problem, now, is that the illuminated keyboard isn't working..only a few random keys are working and the rest aren't..
What should I do? I have a 1 year warranty left, but I'm not sure it'll be covered.

I've noticed that occasionally my IR sensor stops working, and no longer responds to changing the volume, skipping the track in iTunes, etc. It can be resolved by going into Security prefs, disabling and re-enabling the IR sensor. This is annoying, however, and I'm wondering if it's a known issue that might be fixed.
I noticed that when you disable and re-enable the IR sensor, the last few remote button pushes you made while it was broken come through in a burst.

My Late 09 MacBook Air has been working a treat, not a spot of bother. All of a sudden, about 5 minutes ago, I've gone to go online to download some research papers (I'm *trying* to write an essay) and it won't load anything. Not even my Twitter app. It is connected to the right network, which is working absolutely fine on every other device in the house (windows computers, iphone etc). I've turned it off and on twice, the way that us clueless folk do.. now I don't know what to do.

I have tried a few thinsgs to try and get it to work including reseating the cables and that has not helped. As the title says, the back light works as i can see the screen getting blacker/greyer. Also the external output works as well. I'm not sure what to do at this point because I can't find information on an inverter board for the LCD, only the LED backlight think this could be an issue with the video card 8600M or is my LCD dead and I need a new one?
On a side note I have taken very good care of this computer, no drops, making sure the HDD is parked before moving, having it in a protective case, etc. The only difference is that I gave this to my sister to use and after a few days it died. (seems everything she gets that's electronic dies these days, meaning I probably shouldn't give her anything that has a circuit board in it....)

I have recently purchased a cricual m4 256 gb ssd for my MBP mid 09 15''.i have installed lion, on it is have reset the ram, enabled trim (also disabled trail an error), sms and so on apprently it is not working.Most of the time i experience beachballs and lags for 30 sec to 1 min. i find it very fustrating, so i unplugged the ssd and plugged it to my mac with a usb. it is now working fluent but not as fast as it could but with 36 mb/s in writing speed and read speed. compared to 10-15 mb/s before. i am aware that it should perform a lot faster. what is wrong? i know it is not the ssd.

My headphone jack was working just fine until this morning when I opened my computer. It's plugged in, but the sound keeps going through the head speakers. I have done the system preference check to make sure it is not muted.

I have an ibook G4. I use Microsoft Messenger for Mac (version 7.0.1) all the time, and it usually works fine. But for some reason when I use a particular wireless router (Qwest Actiontec) it doesn't work. My web browsers, and other messenger systems (yahoo, aim, ect.) work just fine. I also have a PC which uses the same wireless router, and MSN works on that. When I connect to the neighbor's wireless network (or any other network) with my ibook, Messenger works just fine.
Anyone know of anything I can do to fix this problem? The Actiontech router is my main internet connection, so not having Messenger working with it is a major inconvenience, since other connections are not always available.

I'm a new Mac user (PowerBook G4) and i've downloaded LimeWire 3 times now and it doesn't want to work. I get the disk image, downloaded it, got the LimeWire icon, but when I click on the icon it bounces 2 or 3 times then disappear.

I have a MacBook pro (pre-2008 update), and recently had to reinstall smc fan control after trying out another fan control app i thought might be better. After finding out that smc was the way to go, i reinstalled it. After reinstalling smc, it was never working properly like it was before i uninstalled it. When I make a favorite and then set that favorite on the menubar, the fans kick up to the speed i set it to for about 3 seconds then they return to the normal 2000 rpms. nothing I do can fix this. i have tried reinstalling, reinstalling different versions etc.

I downloaded this: [URL] to add the "tweaks" menu. After I downloaded it I had some trouble getting it to work. I originally just dragged the contents of the folder (not the folder itself) into where it is supposed to go and that didnt do anything. So then I redownloaded it and dragged the folder itself into it, that didnt do anything. then I got rid of the orignal Menu.nib file and it caused Safari to not even start. After retrying a bunch of times I eventually got it to work. Once I got it to work I clicked on the "view webless ct" tweak (or whatever it said) just to see what it was, and viola, Safari wouldnt load. Everytime I try to open Safari now, I got an error message saying safari needs to quit.
I even reinstalled safari, didnt work. THEN I threw the installation .dmg file in the trash, as well ass safari it self into the trash and emptied it. Then I used firefox and redownloaded Safari 4 from apple.com. After downloading and installing safari 4 again, restarting the computer, it STILL shows the error message. How can I get safari back to work? I really dont like Firefox.

I just switched from a PC to a Mac and I can't get my work VPN Client Cisco to work.
I installed version 4.9.01 (0100) of the VPN Cisco Client. I succesfully imported my pcf file that I was using under windows.
When I'm trying to connect I type in the right login name and password and after trying to secure the connection, the VPN says 'Not Connected'

I accidentally deleted the stickies application a while back. I tried to reinstall it but now whenever I try to open it a message comes up saying "You can't use this version of the application Stickies with this version of Mac*OS*X." How do I fix this?

I'm trying to make a wedding invitation using the iMovie and iDVD software on my mac. I have tried numerous things to make it work right but I'm having little luck.
Basically I have tried all of the following. I have exported from iMovie in both standard and high quality to quicktime and even using the standard iMovie format I've used those files to make DVD's in iDVD. I originally burned the DVD's as NTSC, widescreen with low quality without knowing and later found and changed the region settings to PAL, standard and professional quality.
So far everything I've done still has the same out come. The DVD won't play on some DVD players; The DVD will work & play fine on LCD and Plasma T.V's but wont work on the older tube T.V's. (chops off the top and bottom of the project/ DVD) The DVD's are dicksmith (Aus brand) DVD-R; Will changing the brand and or type of DVD help? Am I missing anything?
P.S. The DVD's I've burned so far all work on the computers I've tested it on.

Growltunes will not seem to work on my 2010 iMac! Growl works for everything else, but will not post notifications from iTunes 10. It's installed locally (i've tried in ~/Applications and in ~/Applications/Utilities..) and is definitely running (I've checked in Activity monitor)
Done the standard thing of uninstalling and re-installing boths apps to no avail. Really maddeningly, Growltunes tells me what the last song played is (see attachment) but it wont display a notification! Even more infuriatingly it works perfectly on my MBP with iTunes 10.

I've been experiencing weird Spotlight mishaps lately. So I open spotlight and start typing, but nothing hapens, no search results appear. I have to close it and open again (like double click on it) and then all the results appear. Anyone hd the same problem and fixed it? it is so annoying

Can someone explain to me why my Jar files wont work? When I double click them nothing at all happens the icon just gets big and goes away. I know there is a way to execute the Jar file using terminal but I don't understand that either since I don't know how to use terminal. Is there something that I have to download/install to get the double clicking to work? If not how do I execute through terminal?
