I've noticed the display on my MBA is much brighter when I am running in Windows XP SP3 bootcamp. Big difference with OS X. Did anyone notice the same? Why could this be? I've tried checking settings, calibration and performance seem to be right.
View 9 RepliesI tried to use some software to test the display. I found when the screen goes to completely dark with the backlight on, the bottom side of my screen is brighter than other parts.... have u guys met any problem like that, or is this some problem with my MBA?
I'm quite impressed with the colors, deep blacks and vibrancy of my new 13 inch MBP. Overall, it seems like a much needed improvement over the unibody MacBooks of last fall (I had one, but sold due to crappy screen).
Since using my new MBP, I've noticed that the screen doesn't seem as bright as other Mac laptops I've used.
Today I cranked the brightness up on both my iPhone 3G and MBP and put the two side by side. I really noticed how dim the MBP seemed compared to my iPhone 3G.
Is this normal? Anyone else out there that could confirm my test? My MBP has a 9CBD screen and auto-brightness adjust is off.
I know it's ancient tech... but I've reverted to a 12" PB after selling my uni MacBook. I've owned two of these 12" PB 1.5ghz previously, both bought new (combo+60gb hd/superdrive +80gb) and the latter one cost me some bad business deal points because I was in a meeting outside in the sunlight and I could not read the screen. I sold it with Applecare to someone on MR last year. The one I bought is used, obviously, and the screen is "fine" no dead pixels or cracks or anything, it just will only be workable inside. Does anyone have any tips on the brightest or best screen replacement I can get for this? This one has a build date of August 2005 so it's been around, though in great condition. A bit "dim" and it might be worth it if I could get a new screen that is somewhat brighter.

I was recently using my backlit keyboard of pretty much the first time and I realized that middle right side of the keyboard is slightly dimmer that the other side. I can still see the keys and its not a huge difference but its enough to be noticeable and somewhat distracting.

I just did a clean install of Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro 2.26. My screen is much much brighter now than it was. On battery I am running it on one click above dark. On AC power on less than half what I had it set to before for the same brightness. Really an unusual outcome I would say.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI've been having a nightmare getting WIndows 7 to work properly with the second display on my MBP 15" (Early 2011) i7.
I'm currently running Lion 10.7.4 which works fine on both the internal laptop panel and the external AOC monitor through a Thunderbolt -> VGA Apple Adapter.
Bootcamp installed Windows 7-x64 with no issues, but when it came to trying to get the second monitor fired up it wouldnt.
I noticed when I installed WIndows and when I boot into it, that the screens mirror one another, I take it this is the Intel GPU running. I'll explain why in a bit.
1) I updated all the bootcamp files through Apple Update, no change
2) WHen I extend the displays, Windows sees the display, make and model without any issues, but it gets no signal
3) I then manually removed the ATI Radeon HD6xxx drivers manually, rebooted and both displays mirrored again throught a 'standard VGA adapter', this is why I assume this is the Intel kicking in.
4) I downloaded the latest ATI Drivers... ATI Mac Drivers -> Bootcamp -> Macbook Pro
5) Rebooted, and still stuck at step one now...

I have a 13" MBP. I just realised that when I use my macbook in the dark the keyboard light is brighter on the left side compared to the right side. When I look at my keyboard any key on the left side of the 5, T, G and B keys are brighter than those on the left. It is more evident when I have my moshi clearguard on.

I used Winclone to migrate bootcamp partition from my old MBP to the i7.My problem is that when I linked my external monitor (20 inch ViewSonic) to uMBP using the Minidisplay-to-DIV adaptor from Apple, there is no display on my external monitor. I can set the external monitor as extension of main monitor under "Setting", but after the windows Ding/Done sound, there is nothing on my external monitor. Does anyone have experiences about fixing this problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo just recently, whenever I restart my mbp and hold down the option key for the bootcamp option, it is taking atleast a minute to get the option of either mac os or windows to be displayed. Earlier, this was very feasible as the options would be displayed rather instantaneously. Could someone please help me out as the wait time is horrendous to the least.

Windows has a DPI setting that makes everything bigger on a high resolution display. I never used it, and I don't know how well it works. Is that the way to go? Would you change the order to a none retina display, if you were me?

yet the default theme is a very dark gray theme much like Safari but much darker. I have tried looking for other lighter themes with no luck. how to turn off the theme so I just have a much brighter looking interface?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering how uniform the backlighting is on everyone's mid-2010 MBPs. The screen on mine is sort of a gradient, with the screen becoming progressively brighter towards the left side. There are also what appear to be columns where the screen is slightly darker than the surrounding area. This makes it annoying to read in low-light conditions because the left side of the screen will be at a comfortable level when the right side is slightly too dim, or the other extreme. I absolutely cannot stand dead/hot pixels though which makes me hesitant to have the screen replaced. I just bought the notebook a week ago but I don't want it replaced, as I installed a Moshi PalmGuard before I noticed the screen issues. I also installed an InvisibleShield but I can have that replaced at no cost.

I've got a 20" external Dell LCD monitor running off of a new White Macbook. When in Mac OS, the display works perfectly. However, when rebooting in windows XP all I see is the OS loading screen before the display goes black and nothing ever shows up. I've got the monitor connected via mini-DVI to DVI connector.

Been playing with it all day in OSX and initially installed Win7 but I the display driver keep crashing and I was getting artifacts on screen then the message saying that it had recovered successfully.
Having read that Win7 was not fully supported I assumed that this was the problem so installed Vista, but got the same problem.
Screen stalled, then goes blank for a second and then the error message in the task bar.
I have just ran all the MS updates and also installed the latest GFX driver from ATI to see if that makes a difference.
I have also just ran 3dmark06 and that ran OK but I was expecting the fans to kick in at some point
Has any one had any problems using an external display (Apple 24 inch LED is what I am using) with Bootcamp with an Apple laptop (recent MBP) in the closed lid position. I start Bootcamp & Windows, close the lid, but the display/computer won't restart once I plug in the peripherals.

I am using a direct HDMI cable and the display works just fine when using OSX Lion. I tried updating the AMD Catalyst software directly and there is no change. In fact: it's as if the catalyst didn't even install. I can't find the control panel anywhere. It's not the monitor, I tried all the auto adjustment stuff. Plus, again, it works in OSX It's not a cable. I tried switching them. Other computers display correctly to the monitor (Acer, 1080p)

Question: My Blackbook also has a Bootcamp partition running Windows - is there a way to take that image and migrate it to my MB Air? I'd rather not have to purchase the Superdrive and re-install/setup the Windows OS on my Air....
I've tried re-installing and updating every possible graphics related driver for Windows 7 i cannot for love or toffee get the bloody thing to even recognize my display. I am using a 26" tv as an external display, it works on OS X (very easily), windows XP (also very easily) and even Vista (also easily) and connecting through a DVI/HDMI connector. Why not windows 7? I've scoured the web for answers but can't find anything. Is anyone at least in the same boat as me? I really need this solved soon
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Windows 7 on a Bootcamp partition and use VM Fusion as well, I am trying to get my Windows 7 desktop onto my Plasma TV when I have only Windows 7 booted.
I have a mini displayport to DVI adapter (not worried about sound right now) but when boot into Windows I cannot find the TV as a output setting.
It used to be with my old PC I would see the TV as a possible output and I could chose either Dualscreens or simply set the Plasma as the main display.
Could someone please help me achieve this with my iMac? Am I missing a driver or just missing a setting?
Does anyone have any side by side comparison?
