MacBook Pro :: Colorful Stripes/lines On Screen?
Mar 25, 2012So at some point before, i noticed this line of colors on the left side of my mac, althrough its not bad it became bigger; still i ignored it anyway. Then just a while ago i saw another small colorful line on the right, its way smaller than the other line which has the length of the entire screen. But i want to get rid of the lines already, its only really visible when i have a white screen, but it is still noticable without a white screen. i don't know if its just a bug on my mac, or a hardware fail. The lines when i look at it is like seeing a hypnotic ray when i move...

MacBook Pro :: Vertical Stripes At Boot Then Black Screen?
Feb 23, 2010I have a MacBook Pro with Leopard. On boot, I get a screen of vertical blue stripes with the Apple logo, sometimes intact, sometimes split across the stripes. The spinning activity wheel is there too. After about 30 seconds, it gives up the ghost and the screen goes blank. It's still powered on, but just the screen is blank.
I've attached an image of what the screen looks like.
I've tried Command Option PR to reset the PRAM and VRAM but the problem remains. Any ideas?

Sep 7, 2010Lately, my three year old MBP has been freezing and I keep getting this message (picture attached)...a striped error message with something to the effect of "please restart computer..." It's happened three times in the last two days.

May 10, 2012I own a 3year old iMac 24" model 2008. On the top of the screen theres appeared some white "sun"-alike stripes.
I got the iMac from someone which unfortunately is a smoker, so the first thing i did was cleaning the glass, which did alot for the fuzzy smudges. But theres something wrong in the LCD screen itself.Â
My observation are that its easier to see when theres backlight, so when the screen is black its almost not visible.Â
I wonder if theres any chance that dust/smoke has got its way inside of the LCD even though the stripes look way too symmetric.

MacBook Pro :: Super Drive Cleaning - With Cleaning Disc?
Jun 18, 2009I have the dreaded " unexpected error occured. (Error code 0x8002006E)" problem.
Basically it doesn't want to burn DVDs ( fine on CDs though ).
I've read various ways to fix this such as zapping pram, SMC reset etc. and none worked. I also read that a cleaning disc might do the job.
So my question is, are these discs safe in a MacbookPro machine? And as I recall these discs have little bristles on one side - which way up should they go ( facing up or down )?
MacBook Pro :: Static Screen At Start Up?
Jun 23, 2014Last week my macbook froze and when I force restart the screen started up like the picture attached, It started normally one time but then froze and it's been like this for about five days, what could be the cause of this? Could it be a virus/software or is it a hardware issue? All my systems and stuff ar up to date as well.Â
Also, another issue I've been having with my iphone I couldn't sync any music to the device and I couldn't delete any of the songs from my phone via my mac could that have something to do with it?

Dec 9, 2008I cannot see how to remove the subtle "smudges" that accumulate. It is like there are fingerprints on the screen, and even with a soft paper towell and gentle cleaning fluid, there is no real improvement.
I know this sounds silly, but the cool screen on the laptop is a part of its attraction, and it is natural to want to make it nice.
Macbook Pro HDMI Screen Static Flicker
May 25, 2012I bought a new HDMI adaptor for my 17" Macbook Pro. I'm plugging into a full HD compatible TV, into an HDMI port.The result is a consistant switch between the actual correct display, and colored static. The rate of the switch is dependent on the frequency of the refresh rate, but there's no way to get it anywhere near comfortable to use. I have tried changing resolutions on both sides to no avail. Here is a video of the screen periodically flickering between display and static url...Also have tried other HDMI ports and cables, all of which are known to be in working condition. Tried restarting the tv and computer. Running out of ideas and hair.Troubled Mac User

OK - I wont touch the battery, but, hey Mr Apple, how do I clean my screen?
So I look it up on my Apple sanctioned 'Macbook pro users guide' in pdf:
'To clean your MacBook Pro screen, do the following: Shut down your MacBook Pro, unplug the power adapter, and REMOVE the battery.' (page 109)
Appart from the contradicting information, we have to remove the battery to clean our screen?!?

Dec 17, 2010I have a 15" Macbook Pro that I purchased 5 years ago. It is getting old, but I replaced both the ram and the harddrive about half a year ago. I have been having problems with the screen freezing for a while now. At first someone told me that my harddrive was probably causing the issue because it had been corrupted. I replaced it. The problem did not go away. Then I was told the problems I was having is software corruption, so I wiped the harddrive and reinstalled snow leopard OS. This did help for a while, but recently the problem has returned. My computer screen froze 3 times in an hour and I have static lines running horizontally across my screen. I have a screenshot example.

Jun 23, 2014I bought a brand new Dell U2713H monitor (resolution is 2560px wide) so I had to get a dual link adaptor. I plug it into my Macbook pro 17-inch, Late 2011 and it works beautifully for about 10 minutes and suddenly the screen turns to static and i get a dvi symbol on top left. i then turn off and on the monitor and i get another 10 minutes. I was sure it was a faulty dual link cable - but i am trying the monitor on a macbook air and it is working perfectly.
perhaps the AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB card is not good enough? but i was told by apple support before i bought the monitor it is fine as long as i use the dual link cable.

I can hear the volume clicking as I change it and change the brightness of the keyboard, but nothing else responds. IMac :: Screen Went To Static Real Quick Then Gave Some Code To Shut Down?
Jun 14, 2010I was using my mac the other day and the screen went to static real quick then gave some code to shut down. SO I did HUGE mistake I am guessing. I have only 1 user with a password. When I enter my user password it goes to a blue screen for a minute then comes back and ask for my password again. Before I crashed it was asking for permission to use fonts from my external hard drive ??? not sure why.But I figured I would just reinstall my os x and be ok... not really worried about my info on the computer everything is backed up. However when i restarted and held down the c key while it started with the os disc inserted... I came back 9 hours later and it was still the white screen with the spinning sun thingie.... like it was still loading

Oct 13, 2009Very occasionally the screen on my iMac (early 08 24") goes blank and it makes an incredibly loud static sound that's independent of the volume control setting. The power then needs disconnecting to restart the machine. Haven't been able to tie it to any specific program. Apple Care asked I leave it on logged in on a new user account (at the time I originally thought it only happened in sleep mode, but have since discovered this is not the case).
It's happened maybe 3 or 4 times in the same number of months. I've only found one similar case on the net, with someone suggesting it was Safari 4 beta, which I've found not to be the case with mine. It's on extended warranty. I think there's something seriously wrong with it (it's already had the hard drive and power supply replaced).
Hardware :: Black Stripes When Connecting MacBook To HDTV?
Nov 1, 2010I have a Samsung 50" plasma HDTV (1365x768). Whenever try to connect my 13" unibody MacBook pro to the TV (HDMI cable + Mini DisplayPort->HDMI adapter ---> HDMI/DVI input in my TV), I get black stripes on each side of the screen. It's really annoying when watching a movie.
I use SwitchResX, I'm attaching screenshots with my settings. I'm also attaching pictures of those stupid stripes. I don't want to buy any more adapters and cables because they are pricey here where I live.
MacBook Pro :: Green And Purple Vertical Stripes And Not Rebooting?
Sep 1, 2009while surfing the internet (I was reading an article on CNN and scrolling down to continue reading), the screen color changed to tinges of green and purple. The entire thing froze...no keys, no mouse, not even force quit...nothing. I had no choice but to do a hard shut down by holding down the power button until the laptop just shut off (Macbook Pro). In the middle of rebooting, (at the grey screen with the apple logo on it, I got the familiar circular dial that ticks around as it loads) a screen wipe similar to the effect of some screen savers went from the top of the screen to the bottom turning the screen from grey into green and purple vertical stripes.
It also said "you need to restart your computer" and proceeded to tell me how to do so in four different languages. Upon doing so, the same thing happened...several times. I tried booting it into safe mode by holding down the shift key until the grey apple background appeared and it seemed to be working as the loading was taking forever. Alas, the same thing happened. I took the battery out and held down the power button for 10 seconds, put the battery back in only to suffer the same effect. The next genius bar reservation isn't until Friday.
MacBook Pro :: Periodic Vertical Stripes On An Early 2008?
Jun 16, 2012For about two weeks I've noticed green vertical stripes appearing on my early 2008 MacBook Pro. As you can see the photo below, it doesn't completely obscure content on the screen. The problem is also transient. It appears, sometimes as a flash, then disappears. In the picture below, the issue continued for longer than ever before (about 1 min). Is my video card about to die? Could this be a bad connection?

Mar 17, 2009My cursor (in all forms) on my macbook seems to be disappearing--it appears that every other column of pixels has gone clear as well as a clear border, leaving only a few black vertical stripes as the normal cursor. It's a black outline when it's the hand and it's a few colored stripes when it's the spinning wait cursor.
Interestingly, when you do the ctrl+zoom in a few degrees, the cursor reappears.
If anyone thinks it matters, I was in the middle of backing up via time machine when it disappeared...
