Last week my macbook froze and when I force restart the screen started up like the picture attached, It started normally one time but then froze and it's been like this for about five days, what could be the cause of this? Could it be a virus/software or is it a hardware issue? All my systems and stuff ar up to date as well.Â
Also, another issue I've been having with my iphone I couldn't sync any music to the device and I couldn't delete any of the songs from my phone via my mac could that have something to do with it?
I bought a new HDMI adaptor for my 17" Macbook Pro. I'm plugging into a full HD compatible TV, into an HDMI port. The result is a consistant switch between the actual correct display, and colored static. The rate of the switch is dependent on the frequency of the refresh rate, but there's no way to get it anywhere near comfortable to use. I have tried changing resolutions on both sides to no avail. Here is a video of the screen periodically flickering between display and static url...Also have tried other HDMI ports and cables, all of which are known to be in working condition. Tried restarting the tv and computer. Running out of ideas and hair.Troubled Mac User
I have a 15" Macbook Pro that I purchased 5 years ago. It is getting old, but I replaced both the ram and the harddrive about half a year ago. I have been having problems with the screen freezing for a while now. At first someone told me that my harddrive was probably causing the issue because it had been corrupted. I replaced it. The problem did not go away. Then I was told the problems I was having is software corruption, so I wiped the harddrive and reinstalled snow leopard OS. This did help for a while, but recently the problem has returned. My computer screen froze 3 times in an hour and I have static lines running horizontally across my screen. I have a screenshot example.
I bought a brand new Dell U2713H monitor (resolution is 2560px wide) so I had to get a dual link adaptor. I plug it into my Macbook pro 17-inch, Late 2011 and it works beautifully for about 10 minutes and suddenly the screen turns to static and i get a dvi symbol on top left. i then turn off and on the monitor and i get another 10 minutes. I was sure it was a faulty dual link cable - but i am trying the monitor on a macbook air and it is working perfectly.
perhaps the AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB card is not good enough? but i was told by apple support before i bought the monitor it is fine as long as i use the dual link cable.
When starting up my MacBook Pro normally, I get a flashing blue screen followd by static. I can hear the volume clicking as I change it and change the brightness of the keyboard, but nothing else responds. I have tried:resetting PRAM booting from Snow Leopard disc (didn't work)booting into safe mode and repairing permissions, disksending computer into Apple (hard drive was replaced)reinstalling Snow Leopard from safe mode (bricked computer; had to send to Apple)
My computer won't turn on. Earlier today while playin music it just paused itself. I minute later it resumed. Then tonight it just shut off instead of sleeping and now it won't start. All I can get if I'm lucky is the start up chime and a super quick flash of a white screen.
I was using my mac the other day and the screen went to static real quick then gave some code to shut down. SO I did HUGE mistake I am guessing. I have only 1 user with a password. When I enter my user password it goes to a blue screen for a minute then comes back and ask for my password again. Before I crashed it was asking for permission to use fonts from my external hard drive ??? not sure why.But I figured I would just reinstall my os x and be ok... not really worried about my info on the computer everything is backed up. However when i restarted and held down the c key while it started with the os disc inserted... I came back 9 hours later and it was still the white screen with the spinning sun thingie.... like it was still loading
Macbook Pro can't start up beyond the grey start up screen. There's a spinning wheel and bar that moves to 1/4 before Macbook Pro shuts down automatically.
Very occasionally the screen on my iMac (early 08 24") goes blank and it makes an incredibly loud static sound that's independent of the volume control setting. The power then needs disconnecting to restart the machine. Haven't been able to tie it to any specific program. Apple Care asked I leave it on logged in on a new user account (at the time I originally thought it only happened in sleep mode, but have since discovered this is not the case).
It's happened maybe 3 or 4 times in the same number of months. I've only found one similar case on the net, with someone suggesting it was Safari 4 beta, which I've found not to be the case with mine. It's on extended warranty. I think there's something seriously wrong with it (it's already had the hard drive and power supply replaced).
I've had a MacBook for about four months, completely standard version, no modifications, no nothing. It's been working perfectly. I've the latest version of Leopard and any other software update that comes with. Today I've been working on setting up a new user account entitled "Work" - for obvious purposes. I've copied my regular account's home folder as well as applications and such to make "Work" as much of a copy of my regular account as possible - let's call that account "Me".
And so I've mostly been browsing around "Work" trying to give it the same access to files as "Me" has - "Me" is an administrator, "Work" is standard - by changing access and privileges. I had some problems getting "Work" to save - when I would log out and then log in again, "Work" would have lost the preferences, e.g. Stacks and Dock settings. I also couldn't change the desktop picture for whatever reason.
So then I was going to log out "Work" to see if it still had the saving problem, and it lagged behind a lot, so I did the emergency-turn-off-by-holding-down-power-button-that-you're-not-supposed-to-do thing. And then when I tried to restart, it wouldn't............
everytime when i turn on my macbook, the top part of the screen flickers.. I don't recall seeing that happen when i first got my macbook. anyone else have the same issue? something i should worry?
My macbook air freezes on a blue screen on startup. I can see the cursor, but nothing else happens. Before this occured, the colourful "spinning wheel" used to come up with almost every application that I ran (for instance when writing documents).Â
I am currently running OS X Lion. There are no system updates. My macbook pro JUST started doing this. It never did it before. When I shut my computer and let it sit for however long and then open my computer, the screen comes on, and then about 5 seconds after that, the screen goes blank. In order to turn my screen on, I have to adjust the brightness on my keyboard EVERY single time.
I attemped to download windows 7 into my macbook pro last night, didn't end up finishing the download due to a few problems. Now when I try to start up my computer it goes to the white screen first, than to a black screen where a little "Â _Â "flashes. how to get it to boot up in Mac OS? I'm using the newest installation of lion.
Well gang the problem has been resolved by starting up while pressing command V. Worked like a charm. I don't know why the "genus bar" folks did't try it but it worked...I'm just saying.

i Was surfing the Internet and all of the sudden my computer turned blue. I closed the screen to 'refresh' it and when I opened it back up some of the pixels seemed to be missing and then it started beeping at me in increments of 3. I **** it down and tried to restart it. when the screen booted up it still seemed to me that the pixels were screwed up. I've managed to get past the blinking image of the earth, however after that disappears a grey screen comes up for about a minute or two and then the entire computer shuts down. This is in the middle of my finals and I cannot lose any of my work!
This is the image I get on my iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo OSX10.5.4. I have repaired permisions and removed all login items. Once I move the cursor or open up a window the screen clears behind the cursor or window etc... It freezes up at least once or twice a day...
I started up again and attached another screen, the image was normal on both screens. But alone the iMac still starts up with the pixelated screen.
I have a MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, running Tiger 10.4.11. It has an issue where it takes a LOT of tries (10 - 20 tries) to get it to start up. When I hit the power button, it will turn on, the hard drive spins, the fans go, the usb ports work (I had a laptop cooler hooked up to it that would spin when I turned the computer power on), BUT the screen stays black, no chime. If I keep trying, by holding the power button down for 10 seconds and then hitting it again, it will usually start up on the 10th or 15th or so try.
I've tried varying amounts of time between tries, five minutes, ten minutes, overnight, etc. I haven't done any recent software or hardware updates. Once the computer starts up, it works just fine, aside from running quite hot (typically 60+ sometimes up to 80+C when I'm running photoshop or illustrator).
my macbook was almost dead on power when I shut it down. I couldn't charge it because I was on a plane. Anyway, I plugged it in recently and tried starting it up, it makes the start up sound but won't get passed a blank white screen. Is there anyway to fix this? I've heard reinstalling the startup cd might work, but will I lose my files on it? All the pictures of my dog that just passed away on it, and I don't want to lose these. I just got the right cds to back them up and was going to.
How can I make it so when one opens up my Macbook physically. It asks for LOGIN/PASSWORD. Right now I have it so it asks for password on startup of the OS, so yeah I basically want it - to ask for password when someone opens up the macbook.
first i'd like to give you a few pieces of information on what was going on before I restarted my mac. 1. My mac is a 13'' late 2008 mb with 2gb of ram (running leopard). 2. I JUST had my hard drive replaced due to a failure. 3. Before i restarted my computer i was having several "system extenstion" errors and when i tried to repair i recieved the message 'Underlying task reported failure on exit.' At the time, i was also trying to install Adobe CS5 Master Collection trial and i couldn't get past a password screen. This also prompted me to restart. Once the computer began to restart, it began updating boot caches. This was taking a very long time so i walked away from the mb. When i came back i realized the battery had died and when i plugged it back in and tried to get it to boot, it would get to the gray screen with the apple and the spinning logo underneath. But then it simply reboots.
I've tried restarting the pram. I've tried rebooting in single user mode (cmd + S) and got to the point where i could rebuild the tree (fsck_hfs -r /dev/disk0s2) and that did it's thing for about ten minutes and it didn't fix the problem. I don't have my install disk but apple is sending me a new one and will be here by friday.
