Lately, my three year old MBP has been freezing and I keep getting this message (picture attached)...a striped error message with something to the effect of "please restart computer..." It's happened three times in the last two days.
I can't launch iMovie '08. When I try to run the app, the icon appears on the dock, but no screen or message error is shown. It just hangs, and I must do "force quit". This only happens with my user, as I've tested with other users on the same machine and iMovie seems to be running OK. I've cleaned my user cache in order to solve any problem with that, but it didn't work at all. I have installed the last actualization (iMovie 7.1.4). I doesn't seem to be an interference with iPhoto, as other users have experienced, since I've deleted com.apple.iPhoto.plist and the problem still persists.
I own a 3year old iMac 24" model 2008. On the top of the screen theres appeared some white "sun"-alike stripes.
I got the iMac from someone which unfortunately is a smoker, so the first thing i did was cleaning the glass, which did alot for the fuzzy smudges. But theres something wrong in the LCD screen itself.Â
My observation are that its easier to see when theres backlight, so when the screen is black its almost not visible.Â
I wonder if theres any chance that dust/smoke has got its way inside of the LCD even though the stripes look way too symmetric.
So at some point before, i noticed this line of colors on the left side of my mac, althrough its not bad it became bigger; still i ignored it anyway. Then just a while ago i saw another small colorful line on the right, its way smaller than the other line which has the length of the entire screen. But i want to get rid of the lines already, its only really visible when i have a white screen, but it is still noticable without a white screen. i don't know if its just a bug on my mac, or a hardware fail. The lines when i look at it is like seeing a hypnotic ray when i move...
I have a MacBook Pro with Leopard. On boot, I get a screen of vertical blue stripes with the Apple logo, sometimes intact, sometimes split across the stripes. The spinning activity wheel is there too. After about 30 seconds, it gives up the ghost and the screen goes blank. It's still powered on, but just the screen is blank.
I've attached an image of what the screen looks like.
I've tried Command Option PR to reset the PRAM and VRAM but the problem remains. Any ideas?
I just downloaded Magnifique 2.1 for my Mac (Macbook, 13-inch, 2 gigs of RAM, Mac OS X 10.5). As soon as I open the application, I get an error message saying this:
Applescript Error System Events got an error: Some data was the wrong type. (-1703)
The downloadable theme gallery won't show as well. This same message appears if I try to search for any themes and appears every time I type a letter or two into the search bar in the application. Is there any way to fix this? I have tried re-installation but it doesn't work.
I cannot put anything into my trash bin, if I try I get the following messageThe destination mailbox ?Trash - (my e-mail address)? does not allow messages to be moved to it.To the best of my knowledge I have not altered anything to cause this message to pop up.If I create another Trash folder I can put unwanted mail into it and delete it, but I have to drag and drop every unwanted mail into the new trash bin first before emptying it which is a PITA!
I'm trying to upgrade a PowerMac G4 to 10.5 from 10.3.9. Is there a free file I can download to upgrade the OS to 10.5 or do I need to purchase it and if so, where can I get it?
Here is the error message whenever I open up a X86 program. What I did was I've installed Xcode 3 and CUPS 1.4.5, after the restart, it started to appear this message. I don't have Time Machine. And also I've tried to uninstall Xcode but still doesn't work.
I have been using FCP for quite a while now and just recently when I was trying to exporting a SD movie I got the message, "Error: Out of Memory".
Thinking I maybe had to many programs open I restarted the computer. That didn't work, so I shut down again and reset the memory.
Since that didn't work either, I transferred the files to second compute, but got the same message. Finally tracking the problem down I removed the effect "Line Art" and was able to export.
But I would really like to have the effect on the clip, any ideas on what is going on here?
Would anybody be kind enough as to guide me through downloading a .torrent file? I've tried several times using BitTorrent, and only recieve error messages and whatnot. I have an imac G5 with OS X version 10.4.6
I have my MBPro and am set up as the only account on the computer and it is set up as admin. I have checked absolutely every box to enable me to install items; but each time I do try to install I get the error message
The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.
I've had PithHelmet installed on the older version of Safari, but since I've updated to 4.0 it no longer works. So I've tried to uninstall PithHelmet from my Mac by deleting the "PithHelmet" folder located in /Library/Application Supports/, but nothing seems to happen - I still get this pop-up message whenever I launch Safari. I have tried re-installing Safari but I get the same problems!
Yesterday I could print to my Brother MFC-665CW via my wireless network. Today, without making any changes I cannot. I got the printer to print out the network configurations and they seem fine. My partner's PC can still print to it without problems.
But the mac (Powerbook G4 running OSX 10.4.11) can no longer see the printer. I tried re-adding the printer using the Print Utility. I got an error message -50. I tried reinstalling the driver and firmware.
This error keeps popping up."MAC OS X combined" A NETWORKING ERROR HAS OCCURRED: timed out(-1001) make sure you can connect to the internet and try again. I'm connected to the internet wirelessly. I can't get any update to finish. Any ideas? I'm new to Mac.
Both the mac and HP Photo printer are online. My printer is listed but when I print I get: The printer is not responding or the printer might not exist.
I composed an email today and it didn't like the way I configured the addresses. I got an error message saying the message couldn't be sent because of the address format. Now, every time I send an email, no matter to whom, that error pops up. My correctly addressed emails go out just fine. How do I get rid of it? Where do I find the draft to delete it so the program doesn't keep trying to send? (It's not in my draft folder)
This error message on my 15" macBook Pro recently appeared and blocks my access to all my music. I have downloaded the itunes updates and still get this message.
In the last few weeks when I open iphoto on my iMac (OS 10.7.3) I get the following error message, "MobileMe didn't recognize the stored password for (my name)'s MobileMe account". As far as I can remember, I never had a MobileMe account, but I did put in the password I use for my Apple account and it rejected it. I created a brand new password, and it still wouldn't recognize it. I don't care about MobileMe and I have other Cloud accounts, so I just want to get rid of this annoying error message. Where do I go to stop this message for good? I have looked everywhere I could think of. I also checked on my iPad. My contacts and calendars are successfully synching.
yesterday i turned on my macbook and i wanted to connect to the internet. Everithink seemed fine until i opened safari. I wanted open some websites and it was still loading and doing nothing. Then i have tried open google chrome and the same problem ! But in google chrome showed error message 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED). So i have tried to reset network settings, change DNS adress manualy and its still broken. I also tried to reset modem manualy etc...I can use modem on my iPad without problems and i can connect on my macbook trough ethernet cable.
