What are some ways one can protect their Macbook Air?
Granted I have no clue if the previous generation MBAs had a lock slot, but I've noticed the new ones don't seem to have a lock slot any where on them, is this true ? or is it well hidden that it doesn't show up on all the pics I've seen. I'm specifically talking about the 13" Air.

I figured out that using disk utility is the best method to create a password protected and hidden folder, but i can't seem to find clear instructions on how to do this. I'd like to be able to have a folder that's password protected and hidden if possible. I'd also like to be able to add files and delete files from that folder in the future as well.

I bought this refurbished Macbook from Apple on November 26, 2008 (model MB061LL/B).
I recently bought a replacement keyboard on ebay for my MBP and just installed it. It's been about a week, and just today, I noticed the capslock key doesn't work.. I'm not sure if it has been this way, or if it recently just stopped. The light doesn't come on at all.
I was curious if this was a common problem? If not, is their anything I can do as a substitute for caps lock? Another key perhaps? Or, a button on the task bar or something?
I would like to set up a mac pro using Slots 1 & 2 for RME ADAT digital audio cards and move the graphics card (geforce GT 120 512mb) to slot 3 or 4 so that I can maximize slot speeds for multiple audio playback via logic. Is this possible?

I have bought a cheap ebay cover that covers the keyboard as well as the palm part and it works good (I think) except it is starting to rip and does place keymarks on my screen. I have some dirt on the bottom of my screen under the plastic and in the hindge I see.
I need to find a way to clean it all and keep my keyboard and palm rest clean. I am a college student and on the go all the time so keeping a cloth and such in the middle is kind of hard.
But is there any other way of keeping my macbook in nice shape. I do have scratches on the outside but that is a different story.

I have a belgian azerty keyboard and OS X in english on my white macbook. Is it possible to change the caps lock key's function to shift lock so that it affects the whole keyboard rather than just the letters? I'd like to be able to type numbers without holding shift.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI've had my 2010 Macbook since it launched and this thing just attracts grime and scratches. I literally left my Macbook on my desk for a day and all of a sudden it has two jagged scratches near the apple just by sitting on desk!
Now after that happened, I bought a Caselogic sleeve to protect it when not in use but now I have a green stain near the power indicator on the side of the palm rest. I tried cleaning it off with soap and water, it didn't work.
Then I googled it and I heard toothpaste might take out stains, so I tried that and it came off now but then it returned a couple of days later when I wasn't using the sleeve, so I figured it's not the problem. Cleaned it again with toothpaste and now there's a just a faint green stain I just can't get rid of.
What are you guys using to protect your MBAs? Do you feel its necessary to protect it? I was thinking about getting the invisible shield to protect the MBA without adding bulk.

I just got my old macbook replaced by the new unibody macbook. I had a keyboard skin on my old one to protect the keyboard and it was the full version to cover the palm area as well from dirt and wear. Do you guys think its necessary to get a skin that covers the palm area on the unibody or will a skin that just covers the key suffice? Is the palm area on the unibody easily scratched or worn in color? Any ideas on where to find the best deals on such products?

i used to put the card in and it would read it right away and appear on the desktop, but now i'm putting the card in and nothing is happening.
