ICloud :: Lost Most Of My Notes - Any Archives Of Backups To Recover?
Jun 25, 2012
I just realized looking at my iPhone that most of my notes have disappeared or were duplicated a number of times. So I checked my email on my Mac where I could usually find my notes and they are missing there too. Does iCloud include archives of back ups where I can recover the notes? If so, how do I recover them?
Suddenly I have lost all the notes I have added / changed in the last three weeks or so! This is borderline catastrophic for me, lots of important stuff.
Very weird; I did not lose any other info (calendars or addresses, etc.), only Notes. And it happened across all devices / places (iPhone, iMac, iCloud).
The only recent event that can possibly have something to do with this (I don't know how) is that I purchased a new Macbook Air and did a Migration Assistant. Again, the odd thing is that Notes was the only thing affected. how I can retrieve them?? (I have synced since losing them. Mail & Notes are being pushed through iCloud.)
All emails from my iCloud account (previously .mac and then .me) inbox older than one week just disappeared. They had been in my inbox for years. Why did this happen now and are they recoverable? I have Time Machine backups on my iMac. Will restoring my system or a particular folder recover the lost emails or were they only on the server?
As I'm sure many of you know, MS Word 2008 has a WONDERFUL little option on the mac version, called NOTEBOOK view. You can access this by clicking view and switching to the NOTEBOOK option. This feature is an absolute GOD-SEND for people like me who like to take notes while recording looong and boring lectures which cause rapid flare-ups of my ADHD.
Now, unfortunately, if youre already familiar with this feature, you're also familiar with how often this stupid piece of ***** program likes to freeze and crash at the end of your lecture, basically ruining your chances at the fabled A+. If you're lucky, you saved your document in the beggining so that the auto-recover feature could kick in and recover maybe 80% of your audio/notes IF YOURE LUCKY, but most of the time, YOU'RE SCREWED.
I researched heavily and found no answer other than an apology from microsoft accompanied by "the finger" basically restating their knowledge of the problem. Lucky for me, I stumbled onto a little hint, that had little to do with my specific problem.
I installed snow leopard on both my Aluminum 24" 2.4 gHz (late 2007) iMac and my MBA (early 2008). I lost all the the old dates in Time Machine on my MBA but not on my iMac. Basically, I only have backups for the MBA since the upgrade. Why would the old backups disappear?
I've been backing up my old MacBook Pro for over a year. I sold my computer two months ago and purchased a new Macbook Pro this week. I went to my time capsule and it's only showing a backup from June 2009 when my backups have been for all of 2009. Time Capsule is showing 250GB of space used so my backups have to be there somewhere right?
I have a .Mac email-only account using IMAP. I was alerted that my inbox was full (when I was looking at webmail) so I removed all the messages from webmail (assuming they'd remain on my Mac permanently). I get back home and they're all gone.
When I'm trying to turn on Mail/Notes sync on my macbook a have this:Mail/Notes can't be enabled at this time.Wait a moment and then try turning on Mail again.on my iPhone all is ok.Photo stream, Calendar, Contacts is syncing on mac, but not mail & notes.
I have an iPhone 5, and iMac (os 10.9.3), and iCloud. My Notes app will not sync to or from my mac. Other applications (mail, messages, calendar, etc) sync through my iCloud with no problem.
In system prefrences> iCloud, the notes box is checked.
notes on my iPhone sync to iCloud, and notes on iCloud sync to my phone.
notes DID sync on my mac until about 12/2013.
What do i need to do to get notes working with iCloud on my mac?
I was trying to sync my contacts to my mac to a group in address book, then they were accedintaly deleted, my contacts on my favorites are there but only the numbers not the name, and I have no itunes backup, how can I recover them
Looks like there will be an app "notes" in Mountain Lion that can be shared across all my computers; is there a way to use Notes (iOS5) and StickNotes (Lion) with iCloud to do that now?
Info: Multiple Macs, Mac OS X (10.7.3), iCloud activated on all computers
I have several notes on my IPad that are not appearing on my IMac. Since the ones that are on the IMAC were transferred by ICloud why weren't they all transferred?
I have a 27" imac and mostly use it for music. I got on today to put some music on my iphone 4 and to my surprise I have like 12 songs in my itunes library. These songs are a free sampler cd download which I downloaded the other day from Austin City Limits Music Festival. Where did all my music go? Please tell me I haven't lost 35 gigs of music!! I do have an external hard drive that is supposedly used for backing up. Is it possible the music is on there, if so how do I go about getting back into my itunes?
I recently backed up some DVD's via Toast using Toast own file format. They were backed up straight to the external HD itself.
I checked that they were all working after the process finished, they were working.
But I think my MBP went into standby whilst the External HD was still connected, and so it was never ejected properly.
Now that I've come to view the files again, they aren't there!! There's just a Zero KB file, called 'photography', which was the name of the folder they were stored in.
I've tried viewing the folder under windows via VMware, but it says the folder is inaccessible due to being corrupt, or something.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for recovering those files? The external HD is NTFS, I think I used a patch so that my MBP could read/write files to it.
I lost everything on my desktop, all my folders and files. When i go to the MAC OS X and click on desktop it says : The folder "Desktop" could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges. I don't know where all my things have gone. I can't save anything onto the desktop.
Some days ago I lost all of my 15 GB folders and files that stored in my Macbook Pro hard drive called DATA. I brought my Macbook pro to an experienced computer tecnicians who providing data recovery services. To his and my suprise, after checking, scanning it a few hours, he said their is no way to recover because he did not find any trails at all. The computer still seems working properly - I have no problem with any applications. There are few other folders in the DATA hard disk containing pictures, computer programs still remain. These lost folders and files contain mainly documents (word, excel, power point, pdf etc) which I accumulated in my many years working !!!!. I did not make a back up since last September partly because I think Mac is very safe.
The computer with me all the time on that day and only my son used Power Point to make a simple presentation on that evening - he can not save it on the folders the he normally use - All the folders and files are gone.Macbook Pro 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 1067 MhZ DDR3
I have a MacBook Pro 10.6.8. I work with a lot of large files. When I'm done, I transfer these large files to an external hard drive, erase them from my lap top, and at least once a day, restart my computer, allowing for the formerly used disc space to be recovered. I occasionally will run ONYX and restart the computer, this also recovers lost disc space. Usually after restarting my computer there is between 100-150 GB of available space. My problem now is the space is not coming back. I'm down to 45 GB. Trash is empty. I've cleaned with ONYX, but the space is not recovering.
The Notes function will not communicate to or from my iMac to my iPad or iTouch in the Cloud. The iPad and iTouch communicate ok with each other. The other functions in the Cloud are working perfectly between all 3 devices.
after updating my macbook email starting putting new notes into my notes and my inbox folder, if i delete it from the inbox then it is gone from my note folder. how to stop it?
Info: MacBook Pro (17-inch 2.4 GHz), Mac OS X (10.7.4)
