View 3 RepliesI just noticed that my menu bar is no longer transparent, as it was under Leopard (I upgraded to SL the week it came out, but I can't say for sure whether the menu bar was transparent immediately before that...). What's weird is that the "Translucent menu bar" checkbox in System Preferences only toggles between flat gray and the slight gradient look ? neither one shows any trace of the background underneath (I've tried it with several images, just to be sure). I wonder if I might have changed some default value in a .plist or something, and then forgot about it ? has anyone else run into something like this?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have had the transparent menu bar earlier today but after i installed a theme for theme park and decided i like it, i reverted it back to aqua but my menubar appears "solid" does any one know how to fix this?
View 2 Replies View Relatedis there any way I can make the menu bar MORE translucent? I really like it, unlike a lot of other people, and I want it to be more see through
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is an annoying interface glitch. The desktop & screen Saver system preference has the option "Translucent menu bar". I've got this option switched off, so the menu bar is now opaque. When I switch applications the menu bar sometimes flicks back to translucent for the duration of the switchover to the selected application. It's as if the system always defaults to translucent when it's rebuilding the target application's menu bar. If there's any delay in fetching data it needs then I'll be treated to 2 or 3 seconds of translucent menu bar while it gets its act together.

I have Leopard. But, for some reason, my menu bar is not translucent. I posted a thread earlier asking for help, but no-one could. I've tried everything. Nothing worked.
So now I'm looking for an app that will do the job for me. Is there one in existence? I could've sworn I read something about it before.
P.S. - PLEASE don't post in here with suggestions on how to "fix" my problem. Like I said, I've tried everything, and nothing worked.
I am on 10.5.4, also happened on 10.5.3, there should be a cehckbox under desktop on the system preferences to uncheck so i can get an opaque menu bar, right? the problem is there is nothing there, nor on the screensaver section,
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis may or may not be possible, Is there anyway to make the OSX Tiger style menu bar square on the edges instead of round on Tiger?
If I can tweak a file great, I dont want to rob any performance with a theme or anything like that.
I'm trying to figure out why I can't get my menu bar to be translucent on my MacBook. It works just fine on the PowerBook G4. Look at these:PowerBook G4 set to translucent:MacBook set to translucent:MacBook not set to translucent
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is gonna sound silly, but i don't really remember what I did for this to happen..all my windows turn translucent, when another window overlaps it...It suddenly started coming..its annoying me like crazy now
how do I get rid of it?
Its an eye sore and it doesn't even look cool
I've realized that sometimes I "lose" my wireless signal. I am not using an AirPort router (I'm using Linksys, if that's at all helpful). I've noticed that suddenly all of the wireless signals disappear from the AirPort menu up on the menu bar, except the network that I am connected to (i.e., I only see my router's name there). It also becomes impossible for me to browse the internet, so what I've done to troubleshoot this is disable the AirPort, put the computer to sleep, and disconnect/reconnect my router. When I turn it on, it seems to work. I've also tried simply disabling and then re-enabling AirPort, but it doesn't work after that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot my macbook here. Bought it 1.5 years ago. Out of warranty. Running on 10.5.8. When I printscreen it, the white strip does not appear. Its present even when I'm using my mac. And additionally, It's only visible when the background isn't white or black. Also, its been happening on and off. It normally goes away if I've been carrying my macbook in my backpack and then open it up again (leads me to think maybe it is sensitive and may have been bonked on something while I was carrying it in my bag). However, this time, it hasn't gone away simply by rebooting it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOk so I was my online textbook on my Mac and then when I exited Chrome I noticed some weird difference in my background so I looked closely and I saw translucent letters on it. I changed the background to a solid color so the letters are more visible, but how do I stop these letters. (I already tried restarting, shutting down, unplugging, but the problem continues to appear whenever I log in.

my "services" menu has disappeared as an option in finder. When I try to access it by right-clicking a finder item (folder or file), it's just plain missing. However if I look for it under the finder menu bar, the arrow beside service says 'building'. But I've been waiting for hours and it doesn't look like anything's happening.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought myself a Macbook Pro 13-inch model and I've been loving it so far. One thing that really bugs me is how bad the menu navigation is in OS X. I just read this on Macrumors and the only way to access menu from keyboard is by using ctrl+F2 key for which I have to press ctrl+fn+f2 key since F2 is a secondary function. Also, there is no way of going directly to the middle of the menu by keyboard shortcuts, right? If that is true, Mac OS X is still not polished enough for laptops. is there are a better way to control the menu items?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy safari menu bar is missing. The menu bar for desktop, HD, and apps appears, but when I click on Safari, it disappears, so I can no longer see my buttons for History, etc. I think my husband (pc user) clicked it away when borrowing my computer.

I run Windows-only programs on my Mac via Wine and I was wondering if there is a way to move the menu toolbar of the windows up to the menu bar to make it somewhat more Mac-looking.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo i know this is gonna be a challenging one...
After a day of installing and trying/deleting new apps as well as trying terminal tricks from UsingMac.com like these and these, i went up to my apple menu in the menu bar for the first time since i started fiddling around, and it looks like what you see below in the attachment. I have absolutely no idea what made it happen; I'm just wondering if there is a way to reset the menu alone. because instead of having just what it says in the "system services" section in the menu, it has all that other stuff as well (Calculator, FruitMenu, etc.).
P.S.: Fruitmenu isn't even installed. i uninstalled it after i found out it was only a demo.
So basically:
1) how do i restore the main menu in the menu bar back to its original settings?
and 2) I need to do it in a way that wont screw up the rest of my computer or settings
I dont like how the menu bar (file, edit, vie, etc) goes away when you make a window bigger. is it possible to keep it there the whole time?

When I use Autodesk Maya, I find that there are so many menu items that they don't all display. I can hide some of the defaults e.g. battery, volume etc but I don't like hiding them. Is there anyway to get them all to display or any plugin that adds a second bar.

I have a lot of icons in my menu bar and I thought I saw reference to an app one can run that only has like one menu bar action that will free up most of the space so one can see the other menu bar icons. Does anybody know the name of this app or have any suggestions (other than "remove some of the menu bar icons"?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, my menu bar is lagging this morning. I even tried restarting. All I have running are last.fm, Camouflage, LittleSnapper, InsomniaX, and Caffeine. Everything usually runs fine, but right now when I click on them to change the preference, it takes a few seconds for the drop down menu to come up.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to macs. I just got my first MacBook pro two weeks ago. So last night I was browsing the Internet and I saw a tutorial on how to get a black menu bar. So I thought to myself I'll try it out. So I followed the tutorial to where the last step I did was to restart the computer. So I restarted it and when it came on the top menu bar was missing and I couldn't open anything on the dock so I'm typing all this from my phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis was a sudden occurrence. Everything fine one minute, then when I opened the MacBook, there are dark (black!) smudges on several of the words on the menu bar. The first smudge starts at the right edge of the apple and almost totally obliterates the word "safari." There are light, but still black smudges on File, Edit, View and History, and on the airport icon. This has never happened before.
