I've realized that sometimes I "lose" my wireless signal. I am not using an AirPort router (I'm using Linksys, if that's at all helpful). I've noticed that suddenly all of the wireless signals disappear from the AirPort menu up on the menu bar, except the network that I am connected to (i.e., I only see my router's name there). It also becomes impossible for me to browse the internet, so what I've done to troubleshoot this is disable the AirPort, put the computer to sleep, and disconnect/reconnect my router. When I turn it on, it seems to work. I've also tried simply disabling and then re-enabling AirPort, but it doesn't work after that.
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy "services" menu has disappeared as an option in finder. When I try to access it by right-clicking a finder item (folder or file), it's just plain missing. However if I look for it under the finder menu bar, the arrow beside service says 'building'. But I've been waiting for hours and it doesn't look like anything's happening.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought myself a Macbook Pro 13-inch model and I've been loving it so far. One thing that really bugs me is how bad the menu navigation is in OS X. I just read this on Macrumors and the only way to access menu from keyboard is by using ctrl+F2 key for which I have to press ctrl+fn+f2 key since F2 is a secondary function. Also, there is no way of going directly to the middle of the menu by keyboard shortcuts, right? If that is true, Mac OS X is still not polished enough for laptops. is there are a better way to control the menu items?

I run Windows-only programs on my Mac via Wine and I was wondering if there is a way to move the menu toolbar of the windows up to the menu bar to make it somewhat more Mac-looking.

After a day of installing and trying/deleting new apps as well as trying terminal tricks from UsingMac.com like these and these, i went up to my apple menu in the menu bar for the first time since i started fiddling around, and it looks like what you see below in the attachment. I have absolutely no idea what made it happen; I'm just wondering if there is a way to reset the menu alone. because instead of having just what it says in the "system services" section in the menu, it has all that other stuff as well (Calculator, FruitMenu, etc.).
P.S.: Fruitmenu isn't even installed. i uninstalled it after i found out it was only a demo.
So basically:
1) how do i restore the main menu in the menu bar back to its original settings?
and 2) I need to do it in a way that wont screw up the rest of my computer or settings
How to get rid of the translucent menu bar? Unchecking the option in the Desktop preferences does not work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I use Autodesk Maya, I find that there are so many menu items that they don't all display. I can hide some of the defaults e.g. battery, volume etc but I don't like hiding them. Is there anyway to get them all to display or any plugin that adds a second bar.

I have a lot of icons in my menu bar and I thought I saw reference to an app one can run that only has like one menu bar action that will free up most of the space so one can see the other menu bar icons. Does anybody know the name of this app or have any suggestions (other than "remove some of the menu bar icons"?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, my menu bar is lagging this morning. I even tried restarting. All I have running are last.fm, Camouflage, LittleSnapper, InsomniaX, and Caffeine. Everything usually runs fine, but right now when I click on them to change the preference, it takes a few seconds for the drop down menu to come up.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to macs. I just got my first MacBook pro two weeks ago. So last night I was browsing the Internet and I saw a tutorial on how to get a black menu bar. So I thought to myself I'll try it out. So I followed the tutorial to where the last step I did was to restart the computer. So I restarted it and when it came on the top menu bar was missing and I couldn't open anything on the dock so I'm typing all this from my phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis was a sudden occurrence. Everything fine one minute, then when I opened the MacBook, there are dark (black!) smudges on several of the words on the menu bar. The first smudge starts at the right edge of the apple and almost totally obliterates the word "safari." There are light, but still black smudges on File, Edit, View and History, and on the airport icon. This has never happened before.

Just bought new 15" mac book pro with OSX and I'm going blind trying to read the finder font sizes. In reading about this in the community, there are many people who have decried this problem. I want to add my two cents worth to the issue. Even after increasing the page size to adequately read the contents of a web page, I'm still left with the miniscule type of the menu bars. While I see apple has acknowledged the complaints, there seems to be no indication of when or if things will get better. Even the unveiling of the new OS (Yosemite) didn't clarify this.
