I run Windows-only programs on my Mac via Wine and I was wondering if there is a way to move the menu toolbar of the windows up to the menu bar to make it somewhat more Mac-looking.

View 3 Replies View Related am using Mac G5 (Mac OS X 10.4) and i have connected dual monitors to it. Now when i open few applications like Adobe Indesign cs3, Illustrator cs3 the application opens in primary display and when i drag the image or picture to the secondary display the menu bars on the top remains in the primary display.
So how can i move/detatch the menu panel? and move it to the secondary display.
I've realized that sometimes I "lose" my wireless signal. I am not using an AirPort router (I'm using Linksys, if that's at all helpful). I've noticed that suddenly all of the wireless signals disappear from the AirPort menu up on the menu bar, except the network that I am connected to (i.e., I only see my router's name there). It also becomes impossible for me to browse the internet, so what I've done to troubleshoot this is disable the AirPort, put the computer to sleep, and disconnect/reconnect my router. When I turn it on, it seems to work. I've also tried simply disabling and then re-enabling AirPort, but it doesn't work after that.

However if I look for it under the finder menu bar, the arrow beside service says 'building'. But I've been waiting for hours and it doesn't look like anything's happening.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought myself a Macbook Pro 13-inch model and I've been loving it so far. One thing that really bugs me is how bad the menu navigation is in OS X. I just read this on Macrumors and the only way to access menu from keyboard is by using ctrl+F2 key for which I have to press ctrl+fn+f2 key since F2 is a secondary function. Also, there is no way of going directly to the middle of the menu by keyboard shortcuts, right? If that is true, Mac OS X is still not polished enough for laptops. is there are a better way to control the menu items?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy safari menu bar is missing. The menu bar for desktop, HD, and apps appears, but when I click on Safari, it disappears, so I can no longer see my buttons for History, etc. I think my husband (pc user) clicked it away when borrowing my computer.

So i know this is gonna be a challenging one...
After a day of installing and trying/deleting new apps as well as trying terminal tricks from UsingMac.com like these and these, i went up to my apple menu in the menu bar for the first time since i started fiddling around, and it looks like what you see below in the attachment. I have absolutely no idea what made it happen; I'm just wondering if there is a way to reset the menu alone. because instead of having just what it says in the "system services" section in the menu, it has all that other stuff as well (Calculator, FruitMenu, etc.).
P.S.: Fruitmenu isn't even installed. i uninstalled it after i found out it was only a demo.
So basically:
1) how do i restore the main menu in the menu bar back to its original settings?
and 2) I need to do it in a way that wont screw up the rest of my computer or settings
I've been noticing that my menubar is getting very crowded. When I'm using most applications I can't see a few of my menubar items. I can see all of them when I'm in Finder, but most other apps force a few of the menubar items out. I don't want to have to get rid of my menubar items, I use all but 3 of them on a regular basis, and even those three serve some useful function. What are my options. I really want to find an application that allows the menubar to be split into 2 rows, one on top of the other.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI'm just thinking, the File, Edit, etc., menus seem to be becoming more and more obsolete, as things move into the main window, look at Google Chrome, or Office 2011, I know Apple apps haven't done it yet, and maybe it's just because I'm from Windows recently, but it just seems to take up space unnecessarily.

I have so many things running in my menu bar that it is full...meaning that any new applications that requires menu bar space are not shown (because they are so far to the left, and the application menu options take front priority over them).

View 10 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that my menu bar is no longer transparent, as it was under Leopard (I upgraded to SL the week it came out, but I can't say for sure whether the menu bar was transparent immediately before that...). What's weird is that the "Translucent menu bar" checkbox in System Preferences only toggles between flat gray and the slight gradient look ? neither one shows any trace of the background underneath (I've tried it with several images, just to be sure). I wonder if I might have changed some default value in a .plist or something, and then forgot about it ? has anyone else run into something like this?

I wanted to try it on my Mac, but I can't get to the boot menu. I've tried holding C, +OPT+SHIFT+DELETE, but whatever I do, it doesn't work. No, twice it got there, but it was just showing a tiny folder with the mac finder logo and a question mark flicking back and forth for a few minutes, then booted mac.

I'll go up to the menu bar at the top and discover that its not the appropriate menu bar for the application I'm in. I might be in Safari (responsive in the window), but it says "Finder" in the menu bar - or Quicktime or some other open app. I can cycle through the windows without a problem, but the menu bar doesn't change. Then all of a sudden, everything is fine.
I have recently downloaded VLC to rip DVDs onto my mac so that I can put them into my video library for easy use. I am aware of the numerous threads on this site but cant seem to find a solution to my problem: I am following the instructions offered on this site but cant get past the opening menu screen that you always get on DVDs [scene selection, extras etc etc]. The instructions suggest that I need to select the 2nd or 3rd title to rectify this, try playing it as a test before ripping away. However, it doesn't seem to matter which title or chapter I select on the VLC options I only ever manage to rip the top menu??

Until yesterday, when the Safari icon in the dock was right-clicked, a menu popped up that had "new window" in it. Yesterday, the menu changed and "new window" isn't one of the options. How can I get the old menu back?
Another menu change occurred a while back. When right-clicking on a page, the menu contained 'copy', 'paste', 'select all', etc. "Select all" disappeared from the menu (it's still in the tool bar under "Edit".) Is is possible to edit the right-click menus?
I just hooked up my MBP to my Samsung TB using a MDP to HDMI adapter for my HDMI cable. I choose the "mirror" option under the display window in system pref. The issue is that the menu bar on top is cut of from my samsung tv. Is there any solution for this? How could I fill the screen so that I can see everything that I would see on my MBP monitor?
