I tried to enable my firewall by clicking on the security panel in the server preferences, but it isn't there. I am using FireVault and I have Snow Leopard installed in my MacMini OSX. Am I vulnerable to malicious attacks in the internet?
View 6 RepliesMy itunes sharing isn't working so it says to open up a port. I was looking at the directions apple gives for that and it says:
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Sharing.
Click the Firewall tab.
Check the iTunes Music Sharing option.
When i got to the sharing button there is not firewall tab. my computer is fully updated..where is it?
I've just discovered that I can't access the Firewall tab in the Security & Privacy settings pane. I click on it, but nothing happens. I'm pretty sure that I was able to do this before and turn my firewall on - I get asked sometimes if I can allow an app to receive incoming connections.

I have two computers that seem to have stopped saving my firewall preferences after upgrading to OSX 10.6.6. Each time I start each computer, the system asks whether I want to allow or block connections for a variety of programs, including iTunes and several UNIX commands (cupsd, compressord, ftpd, krb5kdc, qmasterd, qmastertaskd,smbd). Why aren't these settings being saved upon shutdown? Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to Mac OS X 10.6 from OS X 10.5, but after that I have been unable to unlock the security preferences. Also whenever I try to install any software or update, instead of asking me the administrator password, the system does nothing, no dialog box appears. When I tried to unlock the security preferences in the System Preferences, after the clicking the 'lock' icon, the status bar shows "Authenticating....." for a couple of settings but nothing happens after that!

I have suspision my computer was hacked. I want to switch "Fire Vault" on but the system doent allow me to do so.
I am pretty sure the password I am putting in is correct, but the response is negative.
Also, is it a correct move to switch on "Fire Vault"?

Everything else in System Preference works, but when I click on Security the program would freeze then shut itself down.....
Does anyone had the same problem and eventually solved it?
An application I am trying to use needs to have cookies enabled. My Safari Preferences for Security do not show cookies. In fact it only shows selections for Fraudulent sites and Web content. I am the admin. What do I need to do to see these settings?

I have recently begun to use a fios router for my home network. When originally set up by fios they set the security to wep, and I set my network prefences as such. Since then I have changed the router to wpa security My network prefences still shows that wep encryption is being used. It still connects to the net but I can't figure out how to change it to reflect wpa security. Or since I am connecting to the net , is it necessary.

I have a user who has a Powermax G5 10.4.11.
He recently had his computer freeze up on him and it was hard booted. After it was hard booted, he logged back in, but noticed he had to setup his entourage account again. All of the shortcuts he had put in his dock were gone. when he tried to log into photoshop it asked him to setup his fonts as if this were a new account. It seems as if his profile on the computer is corrupt. Is there anyway for us to check this and recover all of the settings he had previously?

C:/Users/*Username*/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/Safari
But I have everything except the Preferences plist. Ultimately I just want to adjust the settings as you would with terminal to make Safari 4 use its blue inline progress bar, I think this is a bug (which I have reported).
Secondly, would anyone happen to know how to make the User Agent a permanent change to Firefox 3, as this is the only way to be able to access Live Mail, as Safari 4 seems not to want to play ball with it. The temporary fix so I have found is to set the User Agent as Firefox 3 (Even the IE8 didn't work??).
When I try to make prints on 2400 from Final Cuts Pro X, I do not see a place to select the kind of paper I want use. I see print or crop size but nothing to select Premium Photo Paper or Matt or any selection at all. I also don't see Quality selection or Preview beforee printing. I had all these things on my PC with Photoshop Elements. How does it work on Mac?

I bought a new iMac in November 2013 which has a wireless keyboard and mouse, which worked well but won't connect since OS was updated. I've looked in System Preferences and there is no symbol for Blutooth. In System Report / Blutooth it says 'No Information Found'.
