We are trying to install/update to the NVIDIA 270.00.00f06 driver for the PNY Quadro FX4800 for Mac on our MacPro 3,1 with OSX 10.7.4. The system tells us "No Driver Update Needed for this System", and will not allow driver to be installed. Can anyone advise if the current driver is automatically installed or provided by Apple Updates. If not can you provide proper instructions on how to properly update the driver. Also how can we confirm what driver version is currently installed.

I want to update my nvidia driver for the new MPB 9600m gt.

How much of a difference in these specs?
I see MacMALL is selling MBA with the former in both categories and i didnt know how much it will affect my performance. Should i spend the money for the upgraded specs?
I have 32bit xp running in bootcamp, with the osx drivers installed. I tried upgrading the nvidia driver and it keeps saying that it cant detect the hardware and it wont work.

I want to load flight simulator onto it however I will require use of the macbook pro's (awesome) video card, roughly how long will it be until there is a windows driver released for it? Also, when will apple update bootcamp for the retina display (will it be released at the same time as the driver)?

I just finished up a fresh install of Windows 7 and downloaded and installed the NVidia driver from their site directly since the one in the Boot Camp files is pretty old and technically the Vista driver anyway.
But I still need the Brightness, Sound, etc key functionality. Is there a way to selectively install Boot Camp drivers? That's the only one I need. The wireless, chipset, video and everything else works just fine (and in some cases better) than the ones included in Apple's setup.
All the animations of the OS [expose, minimize, spaces, quick look] along with 3rd parts apps animations [coversutra, quicksilver, ect.] are very slow and buggy, it have just recently started before couple days.
Attempts that didn't help:
-VRAM and SMC restart.
-Creating a new user.
-Disk permissions verification and repairing.
Facts:
-Snow leopard 10.6.1
-Machine specs in sig
So, I bought myself new Macbook Pro exactly 21 days ago, and was disappointed to find out that they refreshed it today.
However, I am heading to Apple Store Friday afternoon to find out what I can do to get that refreshed one. (I waited 7 month, until the last day of the presentation)So, to people with 320m graphics, are there any big difference? Does the battery lasts longer?
still is to some degree, even though it doesn't seem much different from Leopard. So what went wrong? Windows 7 RC had much fewer problems when compared to Vista. Think about it. Apple spent as much time on Snow Leopard as it did on its other OSes, except all the changes are "under the hood" this time. Apple basically rewrote the OS in preparation for the future. "Under the Hood" is where all bugs come from. It doesn't matter if there aren't many additional visible features; what matters is the code itself, which is used to run the OS and all its features. Windows 7 on the other hand, is more or less a patched up Vista. They focused on fixing all what gave Vista a bad reputation, and got rid of a lot of unnecessary junk, but did not try to fix what was not broken. That's why even at its beta stages, it was much more stable than Vista. That's my explanation. Snow Leopard and Windows 7 had different purposes. One was preparing for the future, while the other was making up for an embarrassment.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSoftware Update just prompted me with an update for iTunes and a Security Update without thinking about it since they are apple updates I did them. After restarting every single application that utilizes a SSL certificate from Keychain is prompting me saying that the SSL Certificate has an invalid issuer. This includes SSL certificates from Apple themselves ( mobile me, apple.com etc.. ). Anyone else having this issue or is it just my computer being massively screwy?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI am going to college this year to study Graphic Design and i am looking to purchase a MBP 15". I have read a couple of other threads which cover similar questions however i am not truly satisfied with the answers i have read.
My MBP will have to run the following programs on a regular basis: Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash. It will also have to run basic tasks such as word processing, internet surfing and email. Finally i would also like to install parallels and XP on the machine just in case an work or applications need to be run on windows. Obviously all of these applications will not be running simultaneously however there is a strong chance 2 or 3 maybe running at the same time. My Imac deals with this without problems, will the MBP be the same?
Will the video card Nvidia 285 GTX work on the MAC PRO 1.1?
This is the 'upgrade' card that is for my new mac pro... I got one when I ordered the machine... near as I can tell I should be able install a second one. Is that true?
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (early 2008) Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro
The NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT features 512MB of dedicated GDDR3 memory, uses the PCI Express 2.0 interface, and includes two dual-link DVI ports.
Just noticed that Engadget are reporting that Nvidia are set to launch the GTX 285 in June for Macs.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs u can see I have a 17" mbp and had it for a few months but after the nvidia announcement, Im seriously thinking about selling the mbp and using the which will cover for a 2.8ghz 8 core mp.
One of my fears is that the gpu will die over the years on the mbp and when apple care runs out or even if the mbp is covered by ac knowing that one day I would need to get it serviced..
I know I had the mp before and know what to expect and while the 17" mbp is a desktop replacement it is portable. Damn nvidia!
Sorry this is more of a venting thread than anything else.
Also curious anyone else on the same boat as I am with selling their mbp fora mac pro?
Looking around, I stumbled across an article that might interest those who plan to purchase a Nehalem Mac Pro.Quote:NVISION ? If you want to combine a pair of GeForce graphics cards with a new Core i7 processor from Intel later this year, you're in luck. Just after the grand finale for its Nvision conference, Nvidia gathered reporters to inform them of a somewhat surprising and apparently very recent decision: the firm plans to enable its SLI multi-GPU scheme to work with Intel's X58 chipset?without the need for an nForce 200 PCI Express bridge chip on the motherboard

A couple of months ago we heard about the Nvidia GTX 285 coming to the mac pro which i personally loved the idea of (I have a 1TB drive for mac and a 1TB drive for windows vista 64 for some general gaming). But it seems word on this illustrious card has fallen silent. Does anyone know what's happened to the card? Has it been released? Will it be released by BFG, EVGA, Apple etc?
I just replaced my boot drive, only to realize that I am not even able to boot to the OSX install disk with the GTX 285 installed... I had the same symptom when I first got the card, because you have to install the evga drivers prior to installing the card.
So... the question... is there anyway to do a fresh OSX install with the GTX 285 installed, ther than putting a card Apple supports?
My old G5 dual 1,8 Ghz with FX5200 was not able to run HD video, so I bought nVidia 7800 GS AGP video card (PC card flashed for Mac) via eBay and now everything "work perfectly" - sometimes. ( Ha ha).
The problem is: On booting, when the circle stop to rotate, display freeze (LG Flatron L192WS) and I must restart pushing power button. I repeat booting for 7-8 times and if I have luck 9th will start up my Mac.
In SAFE MODE there is no problem with booting.
I've seen many people post that they want to see an ATI GPU. I was wondering if there was a particular reason for this. I don't know much about Nvidia's chips, do they not offer any with comparable performance and efficency?
