Ok so my iMac g3 has a left speaker that doesn't work. The right one works fine and when I turn the volume up the left speaker kind of buzzes. Is it even worth replacing the internal speaker? (IIRC it looks pretty difficult)
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe tower speaker just doesn't cut it and I want to hook up my 5.1 Locitech speaker system. I couldn't find any Mac sound cards on newegg and am having trouble finding results anywhere else. What card is recommended by most Mac Pro users? My professions isn't in audio so it doesn't have to be perfect, just something to play games, music, and movies.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo, this afternoon everything was fine until a few hours ago when the internet connection inexplicably started giving problems. Before that, I was just browsing on the web. I never messed with any network configurations.
I own an iMac 27" (Mac OS X version: 10.6.3) that keeps asking for a WEP password. I write it down but the only thing I get is a "Connection timeout" message.
I'm using a SMC router (ADSL 2 Barricade G) by the way. I understand WEP isn't the best choice, but the tecnhician said it was the only way to make all three computers have internet access. With WPA, the two Windows laptops had problems conecting. I changed the client to "No WEP/ No WAP" and every computer can connect to the internet. However, this isn't the desired solution for obvious reasons.
On the Mac, I removed the old network settings. I tried the $ (and 0x) trick but it didn't work. I also removed the old network passewords from the Keychain. I know the WEP password is right, because I used it on both Windows machines when I changed the client type back to WEP Only.
Since the SMC router doesn't display the WEP password, I'll download some password recovery software to find it out. I doubt this will work, but I'm running out of options. I'm not a tech guy.
I have a 2.1 Logitech Z4 setup, and the sound is only coming out of the left speaker. I have checked the wires, they are fine, and both speakers do work - but it could be the socket that's the problem. It's plugged into the line-in socket, I have put the output in System Preferences to Headphones, and everything is inserted correctly.
What do I do?
EDIT: My sound system is plugged into the headphones jack. I have tried putting headphones into the headphone jack and the sound also only comes out of the left earbud.
My electrical connection doesn't always work when I plug it in. Yesterday I had to try six times, figured it was broken and decided to go get a new one. However, this morning, before I left for the Apple store, I plugged it in and it worked. My husband also has this problem once in a while and his is brand new.Just so you know, I've never had this with my Mac Book Pro.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an external hard drive connected to my airport and when I restart my macbook pro I have to retype my password each time for the computer to connect to the hard drive.
The hard drive shows up in Finder, but it says connection failed. I then click on "Connect As" and retype my password. This works every time, but it's a bit annoying to have to do this every time I restart or change my connection.
I have this Seagate 1 TB ext HDD that I've been using with my old Windows, but unfortunately, when I connect it to my Macbook, I'm not able to make changes, nor can I edit or delete files or add new files to the HD. What should I do?

P.S.: It doesn't show up in the disc utility
PP.S.: I tried two different hard drives in the enclosure, but all worked fine before Snow Leopard!
i have just bought a liteon external dvd/cd writer and plugged it into my imac. (os X 10.9.2) it is not loading correctly - it just shows up as a folder where i cannot open any of the files. i desperately need to install my printer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI dropped my new-ish MacBook Pro accidentally yesterday, from approximately 3 and a half feet onto a hard surface, and it dented the area around the power adapter and scratched it up pretty bad. At first the computer seemed fine; it came right back as if nothing had happened, no data or work was lost, and the hard disk drive passed SMART tests. However, later, I attempted to put a DVD into the Superdrive and it could not be inserted farther then approximately 2 and a half inches. I tried several software methods to resolve my problem, but in the end it was indeed a hardware problem caused by the drop.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have a logitech 5.1 surround sound with subwoofer with 5 speakers connected to my macbook os x 10.5.4 leopard and only 2 speakers give sound. Was told to go to the control panel of my windows operating system and go to surround settings and make sure that the speaker set up is set to 5.1 surround. By default it is set to 2 speaker output. How do I find its equivalent in the mac os x i.e the control panel that will permit me to set my speaker set up to 5.1 surround?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a white plastic macbook which appears not to be able to connect to my wireless network. All the other PCs and a Mac Mini in the house connect fine, but the macbook does not.It has connected since i got it, both to the home network and a network in school, but today it promted me for the wireless password, connected a few times but did not give me a IP address, and now will not connect at all! The network appears in the list, i click on it, enter the wireless password, then it says connecting before connection failed.
The network setup is a Cisco router connected to the modem and then connected to the wireless too. There are no computers connected via cable to the network.
I've tried two different Bluetooth speakers (Jambox abd Big Blue) and both don't pair with my MacBook Air.

Recently my MBP (mid-09) has had issues with airport as it continually loses connection and I have to turn it off and on again in order for it to work again sometimes within seconds of doing so. I would opt for a fresh install but my dvd drive seems to be scratching the dvds and it rendered my Windows XP DVD useless when I tried to install that. So it wouldnt be ideal unless there is a method of doing so without using the dvd drive.

Actually, still moving into it from the old one, haven't spent allot of time on it, hard to get out of the old one with my photoshop work. Anyhow, whats a good external speaker system for it? I find myself with the volume maxed out on the internal iMac speakers now, don't think it's too good to keep doing that. Is the amp in the iMac my only control over volume? Can I buy a speaker system of very good quality that may have amps within them so I can get more volume to them? I have a real top end stand alone stereo system, but doubt the iMac iTunes can be run through that.
I have a pare of powered KRK Rokit speakers which I connect to my iMac via the headphone port. Never had a problem with this connection, but today the port doesn't seem to be working.
In normal circumstances, as soon as I plug the speaker cable in the port, the internal speaker of the Mac would disabled itself (even if the KRKs are not powered). However, now I plug the cable it and the internal Mac speaker keeps running. It seems as if the port does not recognise that there is an external source connected.

I have an external bluetooth speaker from jawbone called jambox. From the start on I had the normal speaker volume like I also stil have it if I connected the bluetooth speaker with my iPod touch. But some day ago, the volume from my whole Mac (not just from iTunes) dropped through my Jawbone. It is not just about 40% of that, what I know of, that the Jawbone Jambox is able to bring. This problem exists through all audio / video programs on my Macbook Pro. So like in iTunes, also in VLC or MplayerX. Everywhere. The software sound of MacOS Lion is on maximum. Also the sound control of the jambox itself is reached. It seems like there is a protection against to high volume anywhere turned on which just do not allow me to turn up the volume beyond a specifc point of db. But, I can only repeat: The speaker is in a good shape. I am able to play music much more louder with my iPod paired. But just not with my macbook. I am looking for a "hidden" option to disable the maximum volume limitation of my Mac to the speaker.

my laptop (macbook pro) doesn't turn on, because the battery doesn't work (may be because of moisture), and the 7 battery lights on the left side are off, and when I plug the charger in, the light on the magnetic socket turns on so dim ..

I've noticed a faint buzzing sound through my external speakers when a charger is plugged in to the laptop. Removing the charge kills the noise and makes the sound crystal clear again. Doesn't bother me to much, but as my uni-macbook pro is plugged in most of the time I can see this near constant buzz getting on my nerves a bit in the future. Any ideas, looking back I experienced the same thing with my macbook.

Mine sounds muffled on the left when compared to the right speaker.
Its very noticeable when you play around in your balance settings (max left or max right) that the volumes are different.
I told myself not to do it. Don't update the Safari software to 4.0, you know how they always mess up these things. And yet, per accident I did. Of course Safari 4.0 doesn't work. Every time I open it, it shuts down. iChat also doesn't work anymore, and even the Dashboard shuts down every now and then. In addition, the computer feels incredibly slow. I can't download rapidshare links on iGetter anymore and everything just feels wrong. Countless threads have been opened on this matter with a variety of different problems for different people. Yet I have not read a proper solution. I have seen all kinds of technical solutions being offered but I'm not a computer wiz and I do not know the terms they use. I just want to go back to Safari 3.2 or at least the one before the 4.0 But I read that deleting Safari 4 and reinstalling 3.2 won't work because of a certain webkit that got installed with it, making it impossible to go back.
