My electrical connection doesn't always work when I plug it in. Yesterday I had to try six times, figured it was broken and decided to go get a new one. However, this morning, before I left for the Apple store, I plugged it in and it worked. My husband also has this problem once in a while and his is brand new.Just so you know, I've never had this with my Mac Book Pro.

So, this afternoon everything was fine until a few hours ago when the internet connection inexplicably started giving problems. Before that, I was just browsing on the web. I never messed with any network configurations.
I own an iMac 27" (Mac OS X version: 10.6.3) that keeps asking for a WEP password. I write it down but the only thing I get is a "Connection timeout" message.
I'm using a SMC router (ADSL 2 Barricade G) by the way. I understand WEP isn't the best choice, but the tecnhician said it was the only way to make all three computers have internet access. With WPA, the two Windows laptops had problems conecting. I changed the client to "No WEP/ No WAP" and every computer can connect to the internet. However, this isn't the desired solution for obvious reasons.
On the Mac, I removed the old network settings. I tried the $ (and 0x) trick but it didn't work. I also removed the old network passewords from the Keychain. I know the WEP password is right, because I used it on both Windows machines when I changed the client type back to WEP Only.
Since the SMC router doesn't display the WEP password, I'll download some password recovery software to find it out. I doubt this will work, but I'm running out of options. I'm not a tech guy.
My external speaker connection does not work. Is this a mechanical problem or software problem?

My work site requires me to download an internet plug-in (Safari comes up with the message - "Safari cannot find internet plug-in"). After following companies directions and installing the plug-in I still get the same message when I try to visit the site.

I haven't used my headphone jack in a while, so I don't exactly know what's going on but, internal speakers work fine, plug in headphones and it doesn't make a sound. I know my computer knows there's headphones in the jack because in the system preferences, it registered them, but still no sound. Also, no red light, though I will try the reset button inside. I've tried, staying plugged in>removing the battery> restarting>putting the battery back, and nothing. I've tried taking the battery out and back in without the cord and also, nothing.. so.. I'm stuck. All I wanted to do was listen to the funny people in my guild Ventrilo server.

I've already checked to see if I enabled the settings correctly in Syst.Pre/Growl and Mail preference as well.
Ever since I installed Lion I have had a problem opening attachments to emails which are videos. Most of them I can open with VLC and a few with WMV Player, but none with Quick Time. If they are on my iPad or iPhone I can open them with VLC and send them to others. If they are on my Macbook Air I cannot send them because the email goes without the attachment.

My time machine backup isnt working for the last few months. The backup is located on a QNAP TS-670.
I can look for the TM and the iMac see the TM, but if I start the backup, a popup comes up. "The image of the backup-volume "/Volume/TMBackup/Danielas iMac.sparsebundle" cant be accessed. (Error -1)
Maybe it is not the exact error message in english, but I hope you know what I mean. Im working on a german system.
I can access the TM-Share through the finder (share: afp://[...]).

I go on Justin.tv all the time to watch the Office and when I do I don't notice any lag but recently I have occasionally. I checked activity monitor and it says the Flash Plug in is at around ~45% CPU. Why does it hog so much CPU? How can I change this? Is this normal for flash?? I told myself not to do it. Don't update the Safari software to 4.0, you know how they always mess up these things. And yet, per accident I did. Of course Safari 4.0 doesn't work. Every time I open it, it shuts down. iChat also doesn't work anymore, and even the Dashboard shuts down every now and then. In addition, the computer feels incredibly slow. I can't download rapidshare links on iGetter anymore and everything just feels wrong. Countless threads have been opened on this matter with a variety of different problems for different people. Yet I have not read a proper solution. I have seen all kinds of technical solutions being offered but I'm not a computer wiz and I do not know the terms they use. I just want to go back to Safari 3.2 or at least the one before the 4.0 But I read that deleting Safari 4 and reinstalling 3.2 won't work because of a certain webkit that got installed with it, making it impossible to go back.

The internet i've got is vergin so normally is very fast.Downstairs where we have a desktop computer connected to the D-link is working as normal.
When I open the network diagnostics in mac it shows : wi fi is green , wi-fi settings is green, network settings is failed(red), ISP failed(red), Internet failed (red), server failed red.

I was wondering if there was a way to use the iPhone's audio jack as an external jack for the macbook pro via USB or so, as i own the 13 inch model, that only offers one jack.
I want to use garage band just trying out a bit and i'd need an extra jack for the headphones, otherwise the microphone will record what's played over the internal speakers.
EDIT: I forgot to say that I already tried things like AirPhones, meaning wireless stream to iphone. But there's unfortunately few moments of latency, so i hardly can use it for recording.

Recently my MBP (mid-09) has had issues with airport as it continually loses connection and I have to turn it off and on again in order for it to work again sometimes within seconds of doing so. I would opt for a fresh install but my dvd drive seems to be scratching the dvds and it rendered my Windows XP DVD useless when I tried to install that. So it wouldnt be ideal unless there is a method of doing so without using the dvd drive.

Since I've encountered some problems with backups because of intermittent wifi connection failures, I want to switch to a wired connection with an ethernet cable. I know I could fiddle with the wifi channels etc. but since the TC is just sitting next to my iMac anyway, I could profit from the higher bandwidth of a wired connection as well.Two questions:
1. What exactly do I have to do to make the switch? Are there any new settings I have to apply? Create a new network?
2. Will I still be able to use the wifi connection to get on the internet using my smartphone?
So I recently downloaded the plug-in "ClickToFlash" which lets you choose when you want flash to launch, if at all, and seems pretty useful. The downloading/installation was no problem, but I heard that you can get youtube to be automatically "white listed", so I assume there is a preferences section for this plug-in? If so, where is it? If not, how would I go about doing the aforementioned.

After using my MacBook Pro I close the laptop and it goes to sleep. Later when I return to it and open it, sometimes it can't find the network. The computer is able to see that I have an Apple Network available, but it won't connect.Sometimes when I try to connect, it gives me a timeout. How I fix it is to walk over to the router and unplug it and plug it back in. After I get the green light again, I go to the Apple Network and it works.

My iMac works at a snails pace when I try to run VMWare Fusion and anything else at the same time. I thought it might be a memory issue. I have 2 gb of RAM allocated to the virtual machine and 2 gb for Mac OSX. I was looking at the activity monitor and noticed that the Flash Player (DashboardClient Internet plug in) was taking up almost 600 mb of memory. What is the flash player that takes up so much RAM? Do I need to have it running? The other big program I am using that is taking up alot of RAM is PS3 media server which is taking up almost 500 mb of RAM.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was very excited like everyone to install new Safari 4 and the excitement sustained for a while. Ubiquitously, it is visually delightful meeting Apple Standards. However, I lost lot of plugins that I had for earlier Safari version. Plugins like: DivX player, Real player are gone after I installed the new version. It is not recognizing by itself if there are missing plugins and neither I see an option where I can install by myself.
