Mac Pro :: Internet Connects Briefly Via (wireless) And Then Disconnects After 30 Seconds
Aug 23, 2014
Recently got the new Mac pro and the internet connects briefly via (wire less) and then disconnects after 30 secs. I notice the DNS server switches numbers. After this happens I no longer have internet connection.
Connecting via ethernet is no good either. It doesn't connect at all. I did do a migration from another system. I am wondering whether the setting were saved from my previous system and are getting corrupted with the new system.

I am using a Mac Mini with a Realtek USB wireless dongle to connect to the internet. The software and drivers appear connected perfectly and i see the wireless utility and I can access my wireless network, which says signal strength 100%. I connect to it and it accepts the wireless key. Says connected. Then after a few seconds the connection is lost and it says 'Disconnected'. A few seconds later it connects then disconnects and this continues indefinitely but Safari never allows me to access any webpages.

I have no trouble using WiFi at home. But when I connect my new MacBook Pro to WiFi networks at cafes, airports, and hotels, I can connect and a page or two will load without a problem. But a minute or two later, the WiFi signal appears to be fine but no pages will load and e-mail messages can't be sent or received.
If I turn WiFi off and reconnect to the same network, I can load another page or two and then it quits working. I don't have this problem when connecting to the same networks on my iPhone, so I'm assuming there's a problem with my computer or its settings.

I've been having problems staying connected on my Powerbook G4. The wireless works perfectly but the ethernet does not. I've been using the dorm ethernet jack to connect. The problem is that my computer can't maintain a consistent connection through ethernet so it randomly connects and disconnects. I called my campus' IT department and they told me that it must be my computer because they're system said that it didn't detect my computers IP address. I called Applecare and the person told me that it must be something wrong with either the network card or the ethernet port. Anyway, he gives me a case number so I can go get a repair. Unfortunately an Apple Store is far away from where my school is so I went to my school's bookstore instead.
The bookstore is an authorized service place. I drop the computer off to them and they sent it to Apple. I got a call today from the bookstore guy saying that the Apple technicians discovered that "liquid" had gotten into the motherboard and refused to service my computer. I was really angry when I heard this because I keep absolute care of my laptop. I know for a fact that no water has ever been around my laptop. I'm guessing it must have been negligence on the bookstore's part. I declined the $1300+ repair estimate so now its on its way back to me. I have a brother that works at the Apple Store and he just suggested going directly to an Apple Store this time. Will they just refuse warranty repair again?

After the recent software updates to MagicPrefs (to Version 1.6.0 (30)) I have noticed my MagicMouse will loose its connection to the MacPro several times a day. It reconnects after 5 seconds or so. Batteries in the mouse are fine.
Anyone else notice this?

I'm running OSX 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro, and today I've been unable to connect to the internet via ethernet or wi-fi, unless I'm in safe mode. Then everything seems to work as it should, which makes me believe that this is a software issue rather than a hardware problem. I've tried making a new account with administrator priveleges, but that doesn't solve my issue. Does anyone have any advice on how I can connect to the internet under my normal user account, rather than in safe mode? I should note that I won't be able to get my hands on my repair CD or perform a clean install of OSX because that stuff is at home, and I'm in college. Also, I'm at a university and don't have a router. I just use the campus-wide wi-fi. Finally, my roommate has no problem accessing the internet in our room via ethernet or wi-fi, but I do. Thanks for the help everyone.

I've had my Mac for 3 years and never had a problem with Airport Express. If I did, I would usually turn it off and then on again and it solved the problem. The last two weeks I've been using a wi-fi hotspot near my home until I get a proper internet connection at home. Suddenly, my internet stopped working. The airport recognzies the link and still connects but the internet page says i'm not connected to the internet. I've tried using diagnostics and it says it can't fix my problem. In diagnostics, the first 3-4 lights turn on, but the last two are either yellow or red. I've changed the time to make sure it was correct, I've re-started the computer several times and it still doesn't work. I don't know what it is that is not working. The airport recognizes the signal, yet I get no internet connection. And I haven't downloaded anything recently.

I've been having an issue with my wireless for a while now where each time I turn on my Macbook it auto connects to a neighbours wireless rather than my own despite it being set as the default location.
I've tried trashing preferences, rebuilding my wireless configuration etc... but it still connects to my neighbours wireless and not mine.
Also, it's recently decided that each time they turn on or off their wireless it'll temporarily interfere with mine and kick me offline (it doesn't do the same for my girlfriend who is connected through an Acer laptop)
Is there a way to change this?
It's not too much hassle manually changing networks but enough of one that I'm posting this thread!

When I turn my computer on or wake it up, I am 'connected' or so it says, but I am never able to reach the internet until I (wait a long, seemingly random amount of time or) disable my wireless adapter, re-enable it, and select my wireless network.
I did not experience this problem prior to:
-Trying out a new AirPort Extreme, returning it and going back to my old G router. The AirPort worked great for this computer, but it had problems with the PCs and the xbox 360 (yes.. i know there is a workaround now...)

I have the Samsung SCX 4500w and its IMPOSSIBLE on wireless network.
Once I have paired it, which I?ve done four times now, after some time, for some reason - it disconnects itself from the net.
So I cant access the IP adress, even though the configuration-report says that its still connected and has the same IP. So it wont print, unless I turn it off, and pair it with my router again.
Samsungs customer service refuse to help me. They dont have a clue on how to resolve the problem when it comes to Macs. They dont even know OSX, they dont know the interface. They are just guessing what I have to do, and its shocking and awkward.
Samsung really sucks with customer service for Mac!
Does anyone have this printer? This is driving me completely insane, and I dont know what to do. Im considering returning it, and never buying a Samsung printer again.
This is too bad, because the function is great, quality and design is great too. The few times it works, its great.

My computer is connected to the wireless internet, and other devices such as my brother's laptop and my cell phone are connected and working off of the internet fine. However, my computer is not loading webpages, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. It just all of a sudden stops and the blue bar won't go any further. I tried running the safari under the guest account and it worked fine.

I've got a MacBook 3,1 (White, late 08 model) which is happily connecting to the wireless network but refusing to use the internet. Other computers on the network use it fine.
What's more, when I restart to my bootcamp partition, the internet works fine. It's only in Mac OS that I have a problem.

I just bought a MacBook. So far I am loving it. Unfortunately a very strange thing happens. Whenever I download something with the Macbook every other device at my house becomes unable to connect to the internet until the download is finished. It doesn't matter if it is a WiFi device or not. The connected devices are: a WinXP Netbook, an ubuntu9.10 desktop PC (please notice this is connected with an Ethernet cable, it's not wifi), a WiFi and a Samsung Bluray reader. To complicate things even further, I noticed that even the MacBook itself cannot do anything else (such as browsing the web w/ Safari and/or Firefox). I tried to download large files such as a movie from iTunes store and the iPhone SDK. The download rate is about 600Kb/sec.
I have a 6Mb/sec DSL w/ AT&T and the modem is a 2WIRE 1701HG. Granted, it's pretty cool to have a laptop that can hose wireless networks. These are some info from my network:

I got a very weird problem. When I connect my computer (Macbook, Mac OS X Leopard) via cable to the router all my applications work with no problem. I can browse the internet, visit the itunes store, receive mail, get updates on my dashboard.
But when I am connected to the internet via wifi (on the same router) I can still browse the internet while all other apps cannot connect to the internet. Itunes says it cannot connect, mail says it cannot retrieve any mail etc.
I have tried on a different router at a friends house. Same thing. Everything works via cable but wirelessly only the browser works and nothing else.

MBP dropped connection and now all I get is an exclamation point where it used to show full bars. This happened right during a time I was online using Chrome! I tried restarting the MBP, resetting the router (or whatever that is called), removing and addine AirPort under System Prefs but nothing works. I'm using the iPad 2 to access the Internet and write this, so I know it works. My iPhone also connects just fine. Just the MBP that suddenly dropped and cannot connect.

I've recently moved into student accommodation, which only has wired internet access in the rooms. This is fine for my MacBook, but causes problems for the iPad! So I've been attempting to share the MacBook's internet connection through AirPort using the "Internet Sharing" option in System Prefs->Sharing. This works great, but after a while it disconnects for no apparent reason.

Every time my macbook is in sleep mode the internet disconnects (msn messenger shuts down, download stops etc.). I am not talking about closing the lid sleep mode because I am in desktop mode with an external display. Once I woke up my macbook it reconnects. Does anyone know how to stop this because I think it happened after 10.5.6.

1x Macbook 2.4Ghz, 4Gig RAM. December 08 model.
1x 24" monitor connected via DVI connector
1x USB mouse
1x mac wireless keyboard (was used on iMac 21.5" new 2010 model)
Latest version of Snow Leopard, patched to the latest on everything. Software update says that everything is up to date.
I've unregistered the keyboard with the iMac and associated it with the Macbook. I'm typing this message with the wireless keyboard no problems.
This is where the problem comes in, when I start up for example MacTheRipper, or Handbrake. Essentially any tool that kicks the CPU into overdrive the keyboard starts acting strangely.
Typing will go to a crawl, it takes longer for the letters to appear, as if in slow motion. It will popup the keyboard disconnect and reconnect image every once in a while and if I leave the keyboard for a while it will disconnect from bluetooth completely, when I then try to reconnect by tapping a key it doesn't connect for sometime. Even if I hold the key down for several seconds.
Once the program has completed processing and the CPU drops back down to nothing, the keyboard works just fine again.

I am haveing and issue conencting. The probelm is when an ethernet connection is working Wifi is not, when Wifi is working ethernet is not. The issue is the netowrk control panel says Im always connected through wifi and ethernet 100% of the time but Safari or Firefox will not load a web page. It is strange because in Terminal I can ping any website. I'v restarted the router, the computer, I have even reloaded the OSX Lion. I have al the most up to date definitions. From a little bit of reasearch I see this is a ongoing issue and it is very frustrating. It is not a netowrk issue all my other devices work perfect when connected to wifi. 3 windows machines ipad iphone etc. Is the network card bad on the late 2011 macbooks?

I have a 27 inch, mid 2011 imac. I bought it in March. It has started losing its wireless connection. The other issue is when it does connect it is very slow. I have a netgear modem, I dont think this is the issue cause the IPAD, and wireless laptop connect fine. I've also run a speed test, all wireless devices connect to 10Mbps and LAN devices connect up to 30 Mbps including the iMac when it is wired. Could this be an issue with the airport card? How would I know, how do I check? What should I do?

My brand new imac randomly disconnects from the internet. We have a BT hub - wifi. I have googled this issue and see that it is relatively common and it is incredibly frustrating. It is fairly simple to reconnect each time but it is driving me mad having to. It generally happens when the computer is asleep but sometimes in the middle of doing something.

I cannot be 100% sure but it seems like my problem started when I installed Apple TV and started home sharing. When my Mac goes to sleep and I start it up the internet is disconnected. I check in the settings and the network shows a signal and connected. I do not get emails and I cannot connect to the internet though. I have to restart my computer then everything is back on. I cannot stand quitting all my work to restart my computer so many times a day.

For specific reasons, I needed to connect my Synology DS211 NAS to my iMac directly via its ethernet port. I discovered that if I share my wireless internet connection (coming from my cable modem/wireless router) from wireless to ethernet, then the NAS would get the IP stuff it needed to show up. did that, voila, NAS is acting like a glorified external hard drive. BUT, when I did that, I lost all internet connectivity on my iMac. Still have full wireless signal. preferences pane says I'm fully connected to my network with an IP address, but safari always fails to pull up any webpages, saying I'm not connected to the internet. As soon as turn off the ethernet PORT, it all starts working again. And to make it even crazier, I discovered that if I leave sharing my wireless internet via my ethernet port ON, but turn off the ethernet port (in pref pane), I can STILL access the NAS just like before. That makes no sense - I'm sharing my internet via a port I have turned off, but it works? Anyway, why would Iose my airport wireless internet connection when the ethernet port is on - configured manually?
