Hardware :: MagicMouse Disconnects / Reconnects After 5 Seconds
Jan 20, 2010
After the recent software updates to MagicPrefs (to Version 1.6.0 (30)) I have noticed my MagicMouse will loose its connection to the MacPro several times a day. It reconnects after 5 seconds or so. Batteries in the mouse are fine.
Anyone else notice this?

Recently got the new Mac pro and the internet connects briefly via (wire less) and then disconnects after 30 secs. I notice the DNS server switches numbers. After this happens I no longer have internet connection.
Connecting via ethernet is no good either. It doesn't connect at all. I did do a migration from another system. I am wondering whether the setting were saved from my previous system and are getting corrupted with the new system.

My MagicMouse has stopped a left-swish.
I had this same problem a few weeks ago and was told to do a Restart, I did and the problem went away.
All other mouse functions working.

I have a new iMac purchased today. It has the MagicMouse and for some reason that is not working properly. When I swipe my finger over the mouse (up or down) the web page or application window does not scroll. I have to move the mouse over to the scroll bar, grab it and scroll that way.

Ever since I got a new Mac Pro running Lion, with a Magic Mouse, all of my desktop windows suddenly all disappear. I do not have any hot corners set in preferences, nor in MagicPrefs. This is really annoying. I have to click each active application to get its window to reappear.
What is causing this, and how do I stop it and restore all windows at one fell swoop?Sometimes, all the windows slowly march to the sides of the screen.

I am using a Mac Mini with a Realtek USB wireless dongle to connect to the internet. The software and drivers appear connected perfectly and i see the wireless utility and I can access my wireless network, which says signal strength 100%. I connect to it and it accepts the wireless key. Says connected. Then after a few seconds the connection is lost and it says 'Disconnected'. A few seconds later it connects then disconnects and this continues indefinitely but Safari never allows me to access any webpages.

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.5.6), USB Wireless Dongle

I own a few external harddrives, however one in particular (western digital 2tb) will randomly disconnect and a window will show about "device removal with the red little stop sign shape" then it will randomly connect again (and sometimes i have to physically unplug it and plug it back in), does anyone know what is going on here? None of the cables are being touched, it's really strange, the only thing i can think of, is maybe i have a loose usb cable and need to replace it? or maybe a faulty usb port?

We have Comcast internet hooked up to a Linksys router. When only Windows machines are using the connection, everything works fine. When I use my Macbook Pro on the connection, it works for a while, then eventually the connection dies for everyone, and usually restarting the modem makes it work again. I am now trying to use the connection on Windows XP on my Macbook Pro using Boot Camp, and it seems to be working, so it seems like the modem doesn't like something about Mac OS X.

I'd like to be able to VNC to my Mac at home. Here are the steps I followed (on my Mac - latest version of Leopard)
1) In the "sharing" control panel options I turned on Screen Sharing
2) In the screen sharing options I set "allow VNC access with password" (or something like that) and set my password
3) On my airport extreme I entered "manual setup" and in the port forwarding menu (I forget what it's called) I selected "remote desktop access" from the dropdown menu. That seemed to add the correct ports (5900 was one of them), and I entered my local IP address for my mac in the dialog as well.
NOW, here are my symptoms:.........................

I didn't know where to put this question, so I thought this would be the most appropriate. My computer (A macbook pro, with mac OS X, version 10.4.11) will randomly disconnect from the internet, mostly when I'm playing online games. Sometimes I can play for hours, other times only minutes before the next DC. I can restart and it will work for a few more minutes. The funny thing is it only does this when using the wired connection at my apartment, when i'm using the wireless at college it works fine. Part of my inquiry is checking if it's my computer or the ISP. None of my roommates have similar problems (though they all use PC's). One interesting thing I found when a tech from the ISP was trying to fix things is when I try to renew my IP it gives the same address after it "renews". I know I threw alot of jumbled info out there, but I'd like input from someone who knows macs.

I've got a MacBook 3,1 (White, late 08 model) which is happily connecting to the wireless network but refusing to use the internet. Other computers on the network use it fine.
What's more, when I restart to my bootcamp partition, the internet works fine. It's only in Mac OS that I have a problem.

When I turn my computer on or wake it up, I am 'connected' or so it says, but I am never able to reach the internet until I (wait a long, seemingly random amount of time or) disable my wireless adapter, re-enable it, and select my wireless network.
I did not experience this problem prior to:
-Trying out a new AirPort Extreme, returning it and going back to my old G router. The AirPort worked great for this computer, but it had problems with the PCs and the xbox 360 (yes.. i know there is a workaround now...)

I have the Samsung SCX 4500w and its IMPOSSIBLE on wireless network.
Once I have paired it, which I?ve done four times now, after some time, for some reason - it disconnects itself from the net.
So I cant access the IP adress, even though the configuration-report says that its still connected and has the same IP. So it wont print, unless I turn it off, and pair it with my router again.
Samsungs customer service refuse to help me. They dont have a clue on how to resolve the problem when it comes to Macs. They dont even know OSX, they dont know the interface. They are just guessing what I have to do, and its shocking and awkward.
Samsung really sucks with customer service for Mac!
Does anyone have this printer? This is driving me completely insane, and I dont know what to do. Im considering returning it, and never buying a Samsung printer again.
This is too bad, because the function is great, quality and design is great too. The few times it works, its great.

I just bought a MacBook. So far I am loving it. Unfortunately a very strange thing happens. Whenever I download something with the Macbook every other device at my house becomes unable to connect to the internet until the download is finished. It doesn't matter if it is a WiFi device or not. The connected devices are: a WinXP Netbook, an ubuntu9.10 desktop PC (please notice this is connected with an Ethernet cable, it's not wifi), a WiFi and a Samsung Bluray reader. To complicate things even further, I noticed that even the MacBook itself cannot do anything else (such as browsing the web w/ Safari and/or Firefox). I tried to download large files such as a movie from iTunes store and the iPhone SDK. The download rate is about 600Kb/sec.
I have a 6Mb/sec DSL w/ AT&T and the modem is a 2WIRE 1701HG. Granted, it's pretty cool to have a laptop that can hose wireless networks. These are some info from my network:

This is a problem in Safari only (maybe it is too good for real connections) it can disconnect as often as every 5 minutes. No other browser has ever had this problem.
The ONLY way I know to make it reconnect is to kill it and launch it again.
I´m just opening this here so that I force myself NEVER to use Safari again as I´m pretty confident this is not a bug but "a feature" ...
Of course, I´m typing this from Firefox.

I've recently moved into student accommodation, which only has wired internet access in the rooms. This is fine for my MacBook, but causes problems for the iPad! So I've been attempting to share the MacBook's internet connection through AirPort using the "Internet Sharing" option in System Prefs->Sharing. This works great, but after a while it disconnects for no apparent reason.

Every time my macbook is in sleep mode the internet disconnects (msn messenger shuts down, download stops etc.). I am not talking about closing the lid sleep mode because I am in desktop mode with an external display. Once I woke up my macbook it reconnects. Does anyone know how to stop this because I think it happened after 10.5.6.

I recently bought a late 08 aluminum macbook and have been quite happy with it but from quite some time I've noticed that while I'm on internet and on adium (where I noticed the most) the signal goes off for a couple of seconds and then it comes back. First i thought it was ok but it's been happening really often and is quite annoying since it happens several times a day and only happens to me and not anyone on my network (everyone else has pc`s and are also on wifi). So I wanted to ask.. is it possible my Airport card is failing? or is my router the one failing.

Machine is an early 2008 Mac Pro. I'm connecting two external SATA desktop hard drives via eSATA (NewerTech Voyager S2 enclosures) and a Newer Technology eSATA Extender Cable (connected to the 5th and 6th internal SATA headers). One of the drives is used as a Time Machine backup disk. This TM disk has been periodically disconnecting and generating warning messages about improper ejection. It reconnects with a restart, but usually will disconnect again within a day. I swapped the drives in the docks, so each was connected via the other dock, cable, and internal header. The same problem persists - the TM disk disconnects periodically despite having switched docks.

I've found many different explanations to why bluetooth on my Macbook would 'overheat' and then disconnect from all devices, only to show 'Bluetooth Not Responding'.
I was wondering if anyone has found a fix to this problem. I'm current on all updates running Snow Leopard. Normally, the bluetooth keyboard and mouse works for up to 5 minutes or so, but then loses its connection until it 'cools down' and then this process just repeats. The laptop is currently on a cooling fan and rarely needs the internal fan to even kick on so not sure what else to do.

I have had my new iMac 21.5" for about 2 weeks now. Yesterday I picked up a 500 GB LaCie USB Drive to be used for my Time Machine drive. I have the drive connected directly to a usb port on the iMac. Sometimes when the iMac goes to sleep, when I wake up the iMac I get the dreaded "This Drive Has Not Been Disconnected Properly" warning.
I have made sure that the "Put Hard Disk(s) to Sleep Whenever Possible" option is not selected under the Energy Preferences. I have tried multiple usb ports, same issue. This isn't a constant issue, it just happens sometimes. Is there anyway to tell Time Machine to mount and unmount my drive when needed?

Fresh batteries, no other BT devices close by, it's sitting about 2 ft from the iMac - nothing has been messed with.
I've tried re-pairing, still the same. Some sort of master reset I can do on the keyboard? Or is it just kaput?

I've had problems related to both WiFi and Bluetooth ever since going Lion. However, after updating to 10.7.3 (the large update) from 10.7.2 the WiFi always drops whenever I switch my Bluetooth audio on. It resumes after disabling the bluetooth audio. Please note that Bluetooth is always on in both cases, I just switch the audio output. Tried resetting SMC and PRAM - didn't work
