Mac Pro :: Blackmagic Intensity Pro Not Working / Has PCIe Been Broken With 10.7.4?
May 21, 2012
I have a 2010 Mac Pro (5,1).8 core. 24 gigs or RAM.I'm having trouble with my Blackmagic Intensity Pro PCI card. I've installed all drivers, tried all the different PCI ports and still my MP fails to recognise it. In the system preferences panel, all options are greyed out and a message says "No Settings Required".At first I thought it'd be a faulty card, but then I tried the card on my friend's 2008 Mac Pro, and it works just fine. What could possibly be wrong? Are the PCI slots on my machine damaged?
My Calculator in Spotlight doesn't work anymore... I think its batteries might be dead? When I type in things like "4+4" the search works fine, but it doesn't give any math results. I think it stopped around the time I installed 10.5.2 but it may have been broken before that, I can't remember exactly.
i'm thinking of getting a macbook pro 15" 2.66ghz for use with logic pro mainly.
my question is really about heat.
if a 7200 rpm drive is going to heat up so much (especially when using intensive programs like logic) that it is bad for the disk would a 5400 be better all round?
obviously it would be slower but would it also last longer/ be more reliable?
...or would the difference in heat be negligible compared to the improved speed?
I've got a "little" problem here. I've been wanting to buy a good Capture Card that I can use for my 360 all year long, and I recently found out about the Intensity Shuttle. The Intensity Shuttle requires a USB 3.0 Port which I don't have on my Macbook Pro. I was wondering that if I used an express card, would I be able to capture video via the Intensity Shuttle?
Intensity Shuttle:[URL]I would love you if you could find a way for me to use this.
In SysPref I found the < Illuminate Under Low Light > button.
I can see the backlight has come on , but it is not at all bright. At least it is nowhere near as bright when compared to a 13" MBP we own. Is there an " Intensity " setting for the keyboard backlight?
a mate found a laptop on the road, no kidding, its been driven over, screen is less than happy. I wanted to plug it in to my bubble emac, but what cable am i looking for? and is it cheap? I have sound comming from it when you turn it on, and when u use the volume keys but thats it. Oh and when you use the mouse pad it leaves light trails on the screen.

I just got to college and discovered that wifi didnt work (now I've learned that it only works with Firefox for whatever reason) so I just plugged into the ethernet port at my desk and it worked for a week or so and then it wouldn't work and I checked Network settings and it couldn't detect an ethernet cable. So I reset the PRAM and it worked... for a few hours, and now it doesn't. I don't want to have to do that every time I come back to my desk. What should I do about this? (and any suggestions on safari/chrome not working? I posted it in another subforum on here but I got nowhere)
I'm trying to decide which product to buy and I was hoping for some advice.
First and foremost I want a device so that I may transfer my VHS tapes to DVD.
Live TV recording is secondary but for the price, I'd like to find the device that suits me best so I can continue to use it after i've transferred all my VHS.
Here are my concerns:
1) I'm going to be moving from the US to Ireland in a couple of months (not sure for how long, could be years+) Obviously there's the whole NTSC vs. PAL, ATSC vs. DVB.
I know with EyeTV 250 it's either or, any ideas if buying some sort of converter is an option (prices, quality)? If I bought just a PAL one, would I still be able to convert VHS or would it be completely unusable in the US?
2) I'd like some sort of HD/Digital abilities. From what I can tell TVMax is analog only and Blackmagic may also be but I can't find more specs on that.
Does this mean they'll be useless once the US undergoes the conversion?
So as of now I'm leaning towards EyeTV 250 but the question are there any forseeable problems with using a PAL to NTSC converter or using a PAL EyeTV in the US just to convert VHS.
I need a simple, non fancy SATAII controller I can put into my 2009 Mac Pro. I don't need RAID, it's basically just for connecting DVD drives. The only thing that's important is that I can boot from that controller. I currently have one by jmicron that can boot OS X, but it does not boot Windows DVDs. Not sure why. Nice to have would be eSATA for external stuff. Any recommendations?
I've got a 2008 Mac Pro with 4 internal hard drives that are in a 0+1 software raid. Unfortunately, this prevents me from using Boot camp on any of these drives.
I'm curious, is there a PCIe card that adds eSata ports that would allow me to put Windows XP on an external enclosure that is bootable?
I've been scouring the message boards and forums and have found cards by CalDigit, FirmTek and Sonnet, but I have no idea if any of these will support with Boot Camp/Windows.
I'm not interested in using the on mobo SATA ports because A) they aren't recognized in Windows, and B) I don't want to put a drive up in the CD drive bays (because of the bad airflow).
Does anyone know how the performance compares between (1) an external hard disk connected with eSATA, through a PCIE card, and (2) the same disk connected directly to Firewire 800? Is there some data about this?
ive searched around a lot and only found topics talking about the AGP PM (which the x800xt sounds like its the best card) but iam looking for the best card for the Quad 2.5 DC DP.
Ive got an older NV silencer also hanging around from an old gpu fan swap, so thats available for the upgrade aswell.
I'm using the thin aluminum USB external keyboard and suddenly my 8ik, diagonal of keys stopped working (now I'm using my laptop keyboard). Anyone know if this is typically a sign of a broken keyboard, or a user issue?
I would like to set up a mac pro using Slots 1 & 2 for RME ADAT digital audio cards and move the graphics card (geforce GT 120 512mb) to slot 3 or 4 so that I can maximize slot speeds for multiple audio playback via logic. Is this possible?
It also affects the 10.6.4+ build that the MacBook Airs are shipped with.
I will post a bug report to Apple if anyone here can confirm this.
I have personally confirmed this with several MacBooks and on 2 Airport Expresses + a 3rd Party WiFi Access point. It used to work between all of them in 10.6.4.
So I got a BW 350 new back in 1999 and immediately OCed. I tried OCing it to 450 and it didn't work. I tried 400mHz and everything worked fine, its been that way ever since.
The BW has served me very well and I have since maxed the RAM and put a Radeon 7000 GPU into it and was using it as a TV media computer. It was working ok/good and so I thought I'd try to OC it again to 450 to see if I could get it working and squeeze a bit more juice out of it. God what a stupid idea.
It wouldn't work at 450 so I set it back to 400, it wouldn't work!!! Even back at 350 it won't work. God I can't believe I did this. I don't have the original block of jumpers that came with the computer (I know what box its in, but just can't find it).
Would replacing all the jumpers give it a chance at life again?
Just setting up my new MBP and have an odd problem with the widgets in that none of them 'work'. I can drag them onto the dashboard OK but they don't actually function and if I try to close them dashboard crashes and I get dumped back to my desktop .. screenshot attached.
just a couple of minutes ago my screen did thiswhile I was switching around in Spaces. Also, it is not image problem because i took a screenshot and nothing was wrong on that. Anyone care to give me any information on what this is or how to fix it before I goto the Genius Bar?
I just turned on Web Sharing but it's not working. Safari always says it can't connect to the server. Even from the local machine, when I just click the link directly in the Sharing preferences.
I have a Mac Pro 1.1 and I've been successfully running a flashed XFX ATi 4870 card for a month or so.
Yesterday evening I left my computer in sleep mode, when I came back it appeared to be awake with only one of the two screens working and everything frozen. Both screens were connected to an Apple ATi 2600 XT and nothing was connected to the 4870.
I held down the power button and restarted, the fans on the graphics cards ramp up and then down as usual and the computer makes the startup dong noise. I can hear the hard drives and optical drives working as usual then the drives appear to shutdown and I'm left with the computer apparently doing nothing.
- Fans are running - Screens are in standby (LED's on) - Both screens are connected to the ATi 2600 - 2 x 20in Apple Cinema Displays - Nothing is connected to the ATi 4870 - No LEDs are lit up inside the case
Once I remove the ATi 4870 the computer starts up normally, putting the 4870 back in give the same startup problem.
Is there anything I can do to get the 4870 working again?
I bought one of these via ebay and in negotiaton with the seller. Since this is my first foray into the macworld, i'd like to know from the people here with tech knowledge what's possibly broken. The screen broke during the transportation.I've posted some pics of what is happening.
The fan in my Alu Macbook has given up the ghost. Regardless of temp it never switches on, so I need to get it replaced. There's an Apple Store opening up in the town I work this week, so I was wondering if this is the sort of fault they can fix while I wait?
so I was doing the ironing and watching a movie on my macbook and when I was done and clearing stuff up the ironing board thing kinda folded in half and my laptop dropped to the floor with a loud thud (onto a wooden floorboard)Basically the screen looks like when you break a glass window but it hasn't fallen apart, you just see loads of cracks at the point of impact...I have an apple care thing, but will this be covered under the guarantee or something? The laptop is over 1 year old and otherwise any idea how much it will cost, etc?Furthermore, will I be able to recover all my documents and stuff on it?
