I am trying to upgrade the RAM in my white macbook from 2 GB to 4GB using the RAM from a Sony VAIO laptop. If I put both 2 GB sticks from the other laptop in, my computer turns on but does not boot. The screen never turns on. If i have one of the original sticks in, and one of the new sticks in, it boots up fine and the system profiler recognizes the new RAM and says it is in working order. Why can't I boot with both sticks in? They are both DDR2 667MHz sticks and are all working.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have two 512mb 667MHz DDR2 DIMMS from an old first generation Intel iMac. Would one of these DIMMS work in the Aluminum iMac running a single 1GB 800MHz DDR2 DIMM? Common sense tells me "No" and that this combination could cause Kernal Panics, etc with different speeds of RAM installed. However, I thought it was worth asking since I have these two DIMMS sitting here doing nothing and my mate could use the extra memory for free.

So my iBook of 4 years died last week from a bad hard drive. Today I purchased a 1.42 Ghz G4 Mini with 1 GB of RAM, 80 Gb HDD, Super Drive, and Airport, for $300 on craigslist. I got it today set everything up with my Dell Monitor and Apple Keyboard and Mouse etc.
First: Any thoughts on if this was a wise purchase (hindsight being 20/20 and all), I'm very happy thus far and will look to get a Macbook Pro in about 6-12 months.
Second: Is there anyway to get or upgrade the Mini to have the nonexistent Bluetooth module? If not, what's the best option to create Bluetooth connectivity?
I have MacPro1,1 and thinking of installing MA687ZM/A bluetooth module. My question is what profiles does it support? Does it support A2DP and AVRCP profiles?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have acquired a used 2011 Mini and want to "take possession" of it. The only painless way I can think to do this is to wipe it and install a new OS and user account. If I could make the existing user account mine I would be happy to do that. Indicators are that I can but it seems like a minefield.
I put the Lion DVD into the Min/Air Superdrive. I made the DVD from the first Lion download last summer. It has worked fine since for installing Lion onto my MacBook but the Mini said "No". If I boot from the Recovery disc I am invited to download the whole OS all over again and the time estimate is 75 hours. I cannot afford to be without my keyboard, mouse and screen for 7 hours, let alone 75, so I must think of something else.

I am trying to load Windows 2008 R2 on a brand new mac mini server. I have a USB DVD burner hooked up with the 2008 DVD inserted. I hold down option(alt) and then choose the CD to boot off of. It then said hit any key to boot from CD, I do, then I get a black bar across the bottom that says loading windows files. That bar take a minute or so to completely go to the right, and then the process does not continue any further. I don't really feel like I should need to use BootCamp to complete this as I only want to use this as a 2008 server, and I want 100% of the hard drive capacity dedicated as so. Secondly, does anyone know if I will have the opportunity to set things up to use the two internal drives in a striped RAID 0, and still boot from them?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, I've noticed it's a bit slower than my MBP in opening and saving documents from iwork and office 2008. I made a keynote presentation that came out to 25MB and I tried to export it as a powerpoint file to email to my classmates. It took a long time and a couple times, it had the colorful swirl circling for the longest time. I left my computer for a while and finally it was done. With my MBP, this procedure is done within seconds or at most, a minute. Anyone having this issue? If its an issue, should i fresh reinstall my OS and reinstall the latest backup? The backup i'm using now when i first got this mac mini is from my MBP.
