PowerPC :: Get Or Upgrade Mini To Have Nonexistent Bluetooth Module?

May 11, 2007

So my iBook of 4 years died last week from a bad hard drive. Today I purchased a 1.42 Ghz G4 Mini with 1 GB of RAM, 80 Gb HDD, Super Drive, and Airport, for $300 on craigslist. I got it today set everything up with my Dell Monitor and Apple Keyboard and Mouse etc.

First: Any thoughts on if this was a wise purchase (hindsight being 20/20 and all), I'm very happy thus far and will look to get a Macbook Pro in about 6-12 months.

Second: Is there anyway to get or upgrade the Mini to have the nonexistent Bluetooth module? If not, what's the best option to create Bluetooth connectivity?

Mac Pro :: Bluetooth Module - Keyboard Not Working Properly

Feb 23, 2009

I have had my Mac Pro for a few years now, and I rewired the bluetooth module when I first got it. I then had Airport installed about 3 months ago, and had to rewire it again because the "geniuses" at Apple didn't know the wires were labeled incorrectly. I just moved my computer downstairs and my Apple Bluetooth keyboard is not working correctly. It lags, repeats letters, etc. Upstairs on one desk, it worked fine. Down here, on a different desk, It's acting up. My keyboard is on the left middle of the desk, and the computer is on the floor on the right side. Total distance is less than three feet, with a file drawer inbetween. It works if I put it in my lap, but not on the desk. I just opened it up to check the wires again, and they are tight, and right.

Mac Pro :: Bluetooth Module - Wires Labeled Wrong

Nov 14, 2009

I have a Logitech Dinovo Edge and a Logitech 470 Travel Mouse.. the keyboard has been working fine but I've been having problems with the mouse.. I read about the Bluetooth Module and the BT,1,2,3 wires inside the mac pro and the possibility of a wire being labeled wrong. Unless the module is on the back of the motherboard, I haven't seen any wire that says BT. If the tray where the ram slots are is removed there 2 tiny wires in the lower left that says 1 and 3. No other connector for BT so I don't think thats the location. Where is this Bluetooth Module located? If I cant get this to work correctly whats the best dongle to get?

MacBook Pro :: Upgrade Ram Module Configuration

Nov 13, 2010

Just thinking down the road, so please bear with me. Regarding adding a HD and possibly ram at a later date. I have a couple questions...1.) If adding or replacing in the first year, will that void your warranty??2.) How is the ram module configured on a MacBook pro?? If it cam with 4 GB then can I just add a 4 GB card or do you have to get a straight 8 GB card??3.) If upgrading to a bigger HD, can you just do a backup restore or do you have to totally reinstall from the scratch??

PowerPC :: G4 Not Recognizing 512 Module

What is weird is that when it only had the 512 stick in there, it seemed faster then with just the other 3 sticks. Is it just saying the wrong number?

PowerPC :: Upgrade Powermac Dual 1ghz QS To Mac Mini?

Dec 13, 2007

Wondering if it makes sense to sell my QS dual 1ghz and get a Mac Mini C2D or upgrade the QS with a faster video card (Ati 9800 pro, about $120 on ebay). The QS already has a fast HD and 1.5gb ram. Looks like either option would be about the same price. I won't need to upgrade either Mac in the future, it will be the home Mac (A new Mac Pro after 1/15 will be my main Mac at work).

OS X Yosemite :: Mail Implementing Nonexistent Rules

Dec 8, 2014

Mail crashing on me and I have dug into the problem a little more.  I found a trigger to the crash.  The error message I was getting when Mail would crash mentioned a mailbox in my iCloud account as being the issue.  In order to get Mail to work again, I need to go into my iCloud account preferences, disable mail for my iCloud account, reopen Mail, and disable all my rules.  Once I re-enable mail for my iCloud account, I can then go back to rules and re-enable all the rules.  Things work great!  It is very tedious, but I found a way to stop Mail from crashing and a way to make Mail work again.

Here is a new issue directly linked to Mail crashing.  I noticed Mail will crash when I receive an email from a specific sender.  This specific sender in a large company that I once created a rule for to move messages to another folder.  I have noticed whenever I see an email from this sender on my iPhone or iPad, Mail has crashed.  I follow the steps above.  I then select all messages in my Inbox and apply rules.  The specific email that caused the crash is then sent to a folder which no longer exists in IMAP.  I decided to look through all my rules and I see no rule that pertains to this specific sender.  At one point in time I created the rule to move messages from this sender to a folder on IMAP and then deleted it.  For whatever reason, Mail is attempting to implement a rule that existed at one point in time but no longer does.  This is causing the crash.

Applications :: ITunes Trying To Sync Nonexistent Podcast / Music

Jun 21, 2009

I'm having a problem with iTunes trying to sync stuff that is no longer in my library. I can get it to stop warning me by clicking the "Don't warn me again" box, but I'd like to figure out the problem, so I can make it stop happening. Recently, when I updated my iPhone to 3.0, that resets all the warnings on the phone. Which is fine. But then, the first time I go to sync, I get this. Yes iTunes, I know you can't find that file. I don't even subscribe to that podcast AT ALL any more.

Now, I can simply check that box, and it will stop warning me about this. But, I'd like to figure out the root of the problem, so I can have this stop happening. It does this for 2-3 podcasts, and a small handful of songs. I would just like to know how to clean this crap out of my library, so it can stop thinking that stuff is there, when it really isn't.

OS X :: Bluetooth Interface Not Working After Upgrade?

I have an iMac with 1.6 PowerPC G5 and am running OSX 10.5.7. I just received a notice to upgrade OSX and did so. Now I have lost my wireless keyboard, and when I put my mouse on the header of the desktop to open anything all I get is the dreaded beach ball. I can't open my airport, bluetooth, volume control or anything on the desktop header. I tried to go through System Preferences (which I could open) but when I try to open bluetooth there all I get is the beachball and have to force quit.

Why Does DVD Drive In MacBook Pro Keeping Skipping Over Nonexistent 'damaged Areas' In Movies

Mar 31, 2012

I've had my MacBook Pro for a couple months, and everything works perfectly fine with it, except the DVD drive. Whenever I try watching movies on it, it always keeps skipping over nonexistent "damaged areas", even though nothing is wrong with the actual movie DVD. I watch the movies on my TV, and they still work fine, so the problem has to be something with the Mac laptop.

My BT keyboard and mouse continues to work, but only with the case open, and when they are very close to the computer.I have located a replacment bluetooth board, but before I spent any mulah to fix the problem, I am wondering if it would be possible to just use a Dlink BT 120 USB device that I already own. From what I can tell this particular device is one of a few that will specifically work with Macs. In reading it sounds like it should work without any needed drivers.

Mac Mini :: Ir Remote And Bluetooth Not Working / Result Of Bad Repair?

Sep 17, 2009

I have a late 2009 Mac mini that I bought in March. 2 weeks ago I tried to use an apple remote with it and it would not work. Apple change the IR board on the mini. After 10 days I picked my mini up from the apple store and I noticed 4 marks from when they opened the mini. Ripped aluminum gouge marks on the bottom of the case, the back of the case by USB port does not line up anymore. I brought it to there attention but did not make a big stink and left. I have open a few mini's before (not this one)and know how it is easy to mess up.

When I got home I tried to use my bluetooth devices and they would not work, I tried the magic mouse, track pad, KB. I called apple to trouble shoot and they said I have to bring it back in for repair after 20 minutes of trouble shooting.

Mac Mini :: How To Keep Bluetooth Keyboard Connected When Screen Locked

Mar 17, 2012

Using an Apple Bluetooth keyboard, when I lock my screen (using the Keychain Access dropdown menu method) and leave my computer for an extended period of time (a matter of hours), the keyboard disconnects and thus, I cannot enter my password when I return. I checked the Bluetooth set up options and while I realize this is likely due to battery life concerns for the keyboard, is there anyway to keep the keyboard connected while not in active use? Is there a screen locking method that still allows me access to the Bluetooth set up menu when locked?
