May 16, 2012When booting my Mac Mini with OS Lion 10.7.3 it crashes everytime. The programs starts up then i get the screen that says i need to power off and power on.

Jul 11, 2009I have a late 2009 Mac Mini with 8GB of OCZ 1333 RAM and an Intel X25-M 160GB SSD. Running 10.6 fully updated and installed from scratch.I have been getting out of the blue crashes while the system is most of the times idle. Can it be the RAM? It's reported fine as 8GB 1333 DDR under the system info. The Intel SSD runs latest firmware.

Mac Mini :: It Won't Boot To Lion OS
Feb 14, 2012I have a Mac Mini with Lion OS. When I power it on I can hear a chime and presented with a login screen. After login, it looks like it is trying to boot from the internal hard drive but it seems to stuck with a white screen and animated circle (hour glass in windows). Is there a way to boot into a safe mode or re-install OS from DVD. Note: I am using PC keyboard for my mac. My mini mac is 1.5 year old so it is out of warranty. Â

Sep 26, 2008I have a 1,25GH eMac G4 and it has a problem. When I try to boot it crashes. or it loads the OS 10.4 and freezes after 30 minutes or so. i've zapt the ram a few times and then it started up again as it should.
but then i had to reboot again and it had the same problem all over again only the if i zapt the ram it didn't work anymore.Now i know for 95% sure that it's the memory module, but i've replaced the old one with 2 new modules and for a few times it did great but then the problems came back... I want to have a working Mac again
Mac Mini :: It Won't Log In And Crashes Every Time
Jun 30, 2012I bought a new Mac mini and it worked great the first month or two (I didnt use it that much) and had it plugged to an HD TV. Then bought a samsung monitor, and at start everything was great but after I left it about two hours or more without use the speakers started making weird noises and the computer just crashed. After that I start it the before it asks for my password I hear the weird noises again and sometimes it just freezes with a blank page and other time a sign comes up that tells me to reset it pressing the power button for about 5 seconds and then turning it on again. I do that a million times and I never get it to log in crashes every single time.Â
I have used the computer total about ten times and the only thing installed is the photoshop so I dont care if I have to erase everything o whatever. How can I know what the problem is and is there a way to format it. I just changed from PC to Mac so i am not very familiar to what to do now.Â
I replaced the 1gb ram memories to two 4gb dont know if that has something to do with it but I did that when i first bought it and worked great.Â

Aug 31, 2010Is there an event log or something? I leave it on all the time, good airflow around it and it's on a ups. It didn't crash for the first year but now it's almost daily. I use this one for the house itunes server so it's extra frustrating. Any ideas on what to look for? I've made no mods at all, even the RAM was from apple (when I bought it).

Oct 28, 2009I have just tried to install windows 7 released version 32 bit in a Boot Camp partition that was running XP just fine. I cannot complete the install process as I get a momentary BSOD and then the sytem goes into a never ending restart cycle. Will not boot in safe mode. Repair utility does not run. I have tried a fresh install 3 times. Anybody with ideas? This is on MacPro Dual processor about 3 years old. Plenty of RAM and HD space. MSFT support in India tries for 2 hours to help and then punts.

OS X :: Can't Boot From Install Disk (Crashes/Continuous Loading)?
Sep 7, 2009running OS X 10.5.8 on a MacBook Pro. Lately my mac has been buggy, and I'm not sure why. When a decent amount of information is processed by any given application, it crashes. These crashes have included Mail, Safari, Photoshop, Foxfire, etc.. even the entire computer has shut down. Using the reset option does not help. I ran Repair Disk Permissions and it always fails. I get messages like "The Underlying Task Reported Failure on Exit". I wanted to try to run repair disk through the install disk but I cannot access it. I have Disk 1 in (Maybe I'm supposed to use 2?).
When booting I tried pressing 'C' and would eventually would get the "must restart" gray screen. I then tried pressing "Option" instead, selected the Disk drive, but the loading screen with the apple just kept going for about 20 minutes and I finally gave up and restarted. There were no longer any disk attempt whirring sounds.

Jun 19, 2010My parents bought my younger sister a new MacBook a couple of days ago. She wanted me to install Windows on it so that she could play some games that she has.
So, I ran Boot Camp assisstant and installed Windows XP. XP itself runs fine. However, when I put in the disc from her MacBook that installs the Boot Camp drivers it gets to about Cirrus Audio (or something) and then crashes to blue screen. I tried installing the drivers a couple of times and then tried to reinstall XP and try again.
Mac Mini :: Crashes - No Double Clicking / Highlighting And Command Key Failure
Feb 1, 2012My perfectly wonderful Mini has started doing the following, in this order:
First, I could no longer double click on a word but the right button functions still worked (and yes, I did try another mouse and had the same problem, then I switched the mouse preference to double click with the right button, but had the same problem). This started two evenings ago.
Second, the next morning, I suddenly couldn't drag the cursor across a word, or a sentence, etc. Now it was really getting annoying, because in my work I paste and copy a lot, and this caused me much, much extra work, so it's not a minor gripe.
Then, by that afternoon, I had a complete system crash. The whole screen froze. I tried turning off my Mini with the power button (which I hated because I know you're not supposed to), but the screen remained frozen.
At that point, done disk repair thing from my original instal DVD. Well, it unfroze the screen, but did not fix the mouse/cursor problem. Clear the PRam. That still didn't work. The next morning (today), it crashed almost immediately. Again, totally frozen. This time, I reinstalled the entire system from the instal disk. No luck.
I came across an app I'd bought the last time I'd had bad Mini problems (and had forgotten), called Disk Warrior, so I tried that. Well, it did find three unfixable, corrupt .plist files that it said could cause system disruption. I thought I'd found the problems. So I deleted all of them AND their apps, downloaded fresh copies of the apps, and restarted. Still same problems.
So, I ran Disk Warrior again, and it reported those same three corrupt plist files. Then I realized it was reporting the ones in the trash, so I emptied the trash, ran Disk Warrior again, and it said NO problems. Restarted and tried to highlight some text, and it worked! But it still wouldn't double click.

Dec 30, 2010I am trying to create a partition with Boot Camp and install Windows XP SP2. Whenever i try to create a partition, the kernel crashes and i need to restart my whole computer, boot up from the OSX CD and then "Repair Disk" to get the lost hard drive space back. I had partitioned my HD last week, but then removed it, but now when i try it, it always freezes the computer. is there any way to solve this problem without my data being lost?

Dec 11, 2010Just got my new 2.8 with 5870. From the start it gave me some trouble getting it to turn on. I kept trying different plugs and such throughout the house and randomly I got it on. It was working good but I noticed that waking it from sleep the machine will click and the sleep light goes out and a red led behind the grill comes on briefly. I try pushing the power button to hear another click and the red led flashes. These problems seem intermittent and sometimes it will sleep fine. Im using 2 acer monitors connected via 2 vga-mini display adaptors.

Apr 26, 2012I bought a WD my book studio 2tb from the apple store and tried formatting it. There was a quick formatter already on the disk but this wouldn't work correctly, so I used the apple disk utility to 'erase data'. I left it on overnight and it seemed to have hung and gone no further, so I turned it off. Now every time I plug the drive in to try and format it, everything freezes and I get the spinning busy wheel.Â
I've tried disabling spotlight indexing, resetting pram, starting in safe mode and accessing disk utility from the recovery menu. Without fail, within seconds of connecting the drive it crashes everything and I have no idea what it's doing.

Apr 27, 2012Last week I finally upgraded from 10.6 to 10.7, but now my Mac Pro (2008) won't boot properly. It'll start to boot with the gray screen and the Apple logo, but then the entire screen goes gray and it just locks up there.  However, if I reboot and hold down the Option key to bring up the list of bootable drives that works fine. I've checked my Startup Drive settings and the proper drive is selected. why it won't boot on it's own anymore? Holding down the Option key is getting old.Â

Mac Mini Won't Boot
Mar 18, 2012I have an older intel Mini running Lion. This morning my son told me it was displaying the screen that says you need to reboot.I told him to reboot it and let me know how it went. He came back and said it just brings up the reboot screen again.I rebooted it again, and again got the reboot message screen.I didn't start writing down the error messages because I assumed I would be able to get it fixed eventually.I rebooted with the option key pressed and selected the recovery disk. Again, I got the reboot screen.I then used my wife's macbook to create a USB recovery disk, booted the mini again, and selected the USB disk.I got the gray screen with the apple and the spinning symbol....it stayed on that screen for over half an hour.At that point, I noted that the indicator light on the USB drive was showing no activity, so I shut the mini down and tried again to boot from the USB drive.This time I got the reboot screen again.At this point I wrote down the following error message: [code] At this point I wondered if I had corrupted something on the USB recovery disk by stopping it earlier.I rebooted with the option key pressed and selected the recovery partition on the HD, hoping to see if it provided the same error message.I got the gray screen with the spinning logo and it just hung there. After 20 minutes, I rebooted and just let it follow its normal boot procedure. Again, I got the gray screen with the spinning logo and it's been sitting there for the last half hour.

Mac Mini :: Intel Won't Boot From USB Or DVD
Jul 31, 2010I have a 2009 Mac Mini 2ghz that I was trying to install Leopard Server on. I have tried by booting from DVD, a second partition with the ISO burned to it, and even an external USB drive that has a full install of Leopard Server on it that successfully boots up a 2007 iMac. I have also tried to boot from 10.5 DVDs without any luck. The symptom is consistent - it attempts to boot and then reboots about 10 seconds later. This happens regardless of whether it is a physical DVD or an external USB drive. All DVD drives and USB drives are capable of booting the iMac.
I've reset PRAM, held down option keys to select boot drives, etc. I can't try target disk mode as I don't have a firewire cable handy. Booting into diagnostic mode detects no problems for both the short or long test. The machine is just out of warranty but did have a weird problem with network where it wouldn't recognize the network connected to a Netgear 716GS switch, no matter which port. 10 other computers connected to the switch without problem. I had brought it to the genius bar who couldn't determine any hardware problems and it worked with their network just fine.
Mac Mini :: Boot From A USB Drive From It?
Mar 5, 2012Can I boot from a USB drive from a mac mini 2007 OSX 10.6 with a SATA drive? I want to install a Linux OS from a CD onto the USB then be able to select the bootable USB (linux) on startup. I understand that I can boot from the CD by holding down C when retarting the computer. I have also read I can use rEFIt as a boot loader to select whcih bootable drive I want at startup. Unfortuately, I have also read that there may be a problem actually booting from an external device in Mac. IS anyone actually booting form a USB on the mac mini?

Mar 13, 2012I have a new MacMini without the optiocal drive. This is a computer that someone tried to put Linux on and left it was a 100gb partition for the MacOS and the rest for the Linux installation. I want to get it back to one large partition.Â
I know that I need to get the computer to boot from something else because the Recovery partition is on the HDD. To that end I have tried to boot this from an external USB DVD-RW drive and when it starts to boot from the disk it reads the DVD and then goes to the 'circle/slash' screen. I then made a USB drive bootable and restored the dmg file for my Lion disk to it and tried to boot from that. It shows in the options and then immediately goes to the 'circle/slash' screen. I tried to flash the PRAM and got the same result. I tested both items on another MacMini and they work. The test computer was a previous model with the optical drive.Â

May 21, 2012I just recently bought 8gs of Corsair Mac RAM, links at the bottom.So they I changed the RAM sticks, not the first time I've upgraded RAM, just like I have every other time.But after switching the RAM the mac won't boot. Tried swapping back the old ones and still nothing.
