OS X :: A Bluetooth Icon Now Appearing In Menu Bar?
Jul 5, 2008Suddenly, after awaking my MacBook from sleep, this bluetooth icon has appeared in my menu bar. I didn't change any settings or install anything new recently and I just want to get it off of there. When clicked the option it gives is grayed-out "Bluetooth: Not Available". Does anyone know how I can get this icon off of there?

Mac Mini :: Apple Store Fixed My MM For Free
Aug 14, 2010So a few months back my old mac mini decided to crap out on me and I was computer-less for those few months. Since my money situation isnt too good right now (unemployed, live at my grandmas and my dad supports me. Im 21 btw) I didnt bother getting it fixed until recently. Keep in mind the computer is out of warranty and I dont have Apple Care. So I eventually took it to the apple store and they said the logic board was fried and possibly the ram. They quoted me at $317 for a new logic board. I told them I'll give it a wait because I cant afford it. So a few weeks later I decide to go back and ask if I can get it done for a cheaper price. They told me they can do it for $217 with just the logic board replaced and if it needs ram they will tell me. They end up calling me telling me to pic it up and that the price is $377. I told them no, they told me they'll do it for 217. She tells me they had to replace the ram as well and thats why the price was higher. So I told her that as long as the computer still works with the old ram just put back the old ram and Ill pay the $217....
So I get a call back today saying I can pick it up. I ask them just to make sure how much the price was. She says no charge. So im of course confused and ask to speak to the person who repaired it. She tells me that since mac mini's are hard to open and shouldnt be opened a bunch of times that they just left it with the new logic board and ram and decided to do it for free given the small hassle I had with them. I couldnt believe it! It was a $377 dollar job and they just let it slide.

ITunes :: Why No 1080p HD Video On Macbook Pro/mac Mini From Store
May 28, 2012Why can't you play 1080p video on a macbook pro or mac mini? This means you have to sync files which are over 1GB in size one at a time to the new ipad just to view them and this takes a long time. When at home, I use itunes via a macbook pro/mac mini for all my multi media connect to my TV, now I have GB's of files I cannot watch at home.
It kind of defeats the object, there is not enough space on an ipad to hold much HD content, certainly I will not be buying anymore HD video files from itunes for this reason. I am dissapointed to have wasted money on 1080p videos that I have to sync one at a time to a new ipad just to watch them. The new ipad screen is great but surely we need the option to watch 1080p HD video on out TV too? The crazy thing is that itunes/quicktime can easily handle 1080p video which is not from the itunes store so Apple must be deliberately restricting itunes bought 1080p HD video to the new ipad.

App Store :: Mac Mini Won't Let To Update Apps - Get An Error 13 Message
Jun 22, 2012The app store on my Mac Mini (2.7GHZ I7 running 10.7.4) tells me I have 3 apps that need to be updated. Whenever I try to update them, I get an error message that reads " We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (13). I've gone online and saw that some people were fixing the problem by erasing some kind of hidden cookie. It seems to be somwhere in /library/Cookies file but I don't have a file in my library labeled "cookies". I also saw another post where they tried to delete it in terminal, but that had no effect for me.

Dec 27, 2009I've realized that sometimes I "lose" my wireless signal. I am not using an AirPort router (I'm using Linksys, if that's at all helpful). I've noticed that suddenly all of the wireless signals disappear from the AirPort menu up on the menu bar, except the network that I am connected to (i.e., I only see my router's name there). It also becomes impossible for me to browse the internet, so what I've done to troubleshoot this is disable the AirPort, put the computer to sleep, and disconnect/reconnect my router. When I turn it on, it seems to work. I've also tried simply disabling and then re-enabling AirPort, but it doesn't work after that.

Dec 16, 2010I recently bought myself a Macbook Pro 13-inch model and I've been loving it so far. One thing that really bugs me is how bad the menu navigation is in OS X. I just read this on Macrumors and the only way to access menu from keyboard is by using ctrl+F2 key for which I have to press ctrl+fn+f2 key since F2 is a secondary function. Also, there is no way of going directly to the middle of the menu by keyboard shortcuts, right? If that is true, Mac OS X is still not polished enough for laptops. is there are a better way to control the menu items?

After a day of installing and trying/deleting new apps as well as trying terminal tricks from UsingMac.com like these and these, i went up to my apple menu in the menu bar for the first time since i started fiddling around, and it looks like what you see below in the attachment. I have absolutely no idea what made it happen; I'm just wondering if there is a way to reset the menu alone. because instead of having just what it says in the "system services" section in the menu, it has all that other stuff as well (Calculator, FruitMenu, etc.).
P.S.: Fruitmenu isn't even installed. i uninstalled it after i found out it was only a demo.
So basically:
1) how do i restore the main menu in the menu bar back to its original settings?
and 2) I need to do it in a way that wont screw up the rest of my computer or settings

Sep 12, 2010I have an Early 2009 Mac Mini with Mini DVI and Mini DisplayPort. And I have two 1080p HDTVs. The Mac Mini is capable of dual display, and I've gotten it to work before, so the issue is not the TV or Mac. And I have tried both Mirroring and No Mirroring.
I got a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (#5311) and a Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter (#4852) both from MonoPrice. And for some reason I can't get the Mac Mini to dual display, it's only one or the other.
Before I had a Mini Displayport Male and USB Male AUDIO to HDMI Female Converting Adapter (#5969) and I got video on both HDTVs, but not audio at the same time b/c one was USB and one was TOSLINK.
I'm not sure why I can't get video on both monitors. Any help?

I know the mini has both mini-dvi to dvi and mini-dp to dvi or hdmi available via adapters. I was thinking to go with option 1 however I was wondering what is your opinions? Is mini-display port better over mini-dvi or are they the same? Audio will be carried over optical toslink.
Option 1:
Using mini-dvi adapter to dvi: Connect Dvi-Hdmi cable to receiver and output audio with toslink adapter.
Option 2:
Using mini-dp adapter to dvi or hdmi: Connect Dvi-Hdmi cable to receiver and output audio with toslink adapter.

Click Change Store to view this article". If I click to change the Store from the Spanish to the American store, I have to fill the data but my ID apple is not working on the "foreign" store. What can I do? Is there a way to buy / download items from a different Itunes stores?

Intel Mac :: Everything Works Except It Won't Load Web Pages Or Connect To ITunes Store, App Store Etc?
Apr 13, 2012On 6 th April my BT homehub2 updated it's firmware and that's when the problems started. Broadband went down completely and powerlineadapters adapters for bt vision fried. After 2 telephone support calls we eventually got the home hub reset and connected to broadband. Bt supplied two new powerlineadapters and bt vision is now working. Laptop, iPhones and iPad (and bt vision) all connect fine and work completely well.
My iMac running OS X 10.7.3, appears to work in that it connects no problem to home hub and when you run diagnostics it says your Internet connection appears to be working normally... However I cannot get a web page to load - I have tried chrome, Firefox and safari. The bizarre thing is using Outlook I can send and receive email, also my apple devices are still syncing via the iCloud - that would suggest that the iMac is indeed connecting wirelessly to the router and sending and receiving data - just no web pages at all - also it can't connect to things like iTunes store or apples app store... Everything was working fine until the firmware update!
Also may/may not be related but when I log in now I always have to manually connect to router, it always connects fine but it used to do it automatically, also recently upgraded to Lion and I have my doubts there too?
