OS X Yosemite :: Upgrade - Window Slide Bar Disappears?
Dec 6, 2014
The open window no longer includes the slide bar for the mouse. I have to grab the side of the window and move it to have the slide bar appear and be quick enough to use it

iMac (24-inch Early 2008), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
how to make a window appear and disappear with either a fade or a slide effect. Its a simple script below which I would like to do this to. set appName to "EZeye" tell application "System Events" if frontmost of process appName then set visible of process appName to false else set visible of process appName to true end if end tell.
When I run Softare Update (27' iMac, OSX 10.7.3), the application finds the needed updates and displays the usual updates available window. However when I click on Install (whether ot not i open up the details window), the update window disappears, the application icon remains on the dock with the dot uderneath indicating and open application but nothing happens.
Rebooting this question to keep it simpler. Using the above, when I try to relink to files that are definitely the same type and size (WAVs or AIFFs only), the process SEEMS to work; the progress bar to confirm matching file goes through, file name disappears from the link search window and at the bottom it says (when searching for 1 file) Matched: 1 out of 1.Â
But nothing changes, still just red empty clips in Event Browser and Timeline. I've tried deleting original file references / aliases from the Original Media folder, tried linking to the new file from various older folders, tried changing the names of files, just nothing. I've trashed preferences with Preference Manager. Is this some bug they left behind in Mountain Lion because they think we should all be in Mavericks by now? I'm afraid to upgrade to 10.1.1 anyway with some older projects I still need to use - and I have other reasons to wait as well.Â
My imac disappears from the network (it stops showing on the "devices/shared" area on Finder and then I am unable to put it back in. I suspect this happens when it goes to sleep, not sure.Â
This started with multiple names of the imac appearing in the "shared" window. I did the recommended temporary fix and then had to restart all of my network to get it to work. it did, but later in the day the imac disappeared from it. I am running 10.10.1Â

When I try to upload or import files, the selection window appears for a quick moment, then disappears before I am able to make selection. I first noticed it when I was trying to upload a few photos on facebook, then it did it with flickr, then I wasn't able to import a file from Adobe After effects and it sometimes does it when I try to attach a photo in an email. I don't know what is going on but I am getting scared that I will never upload or import again.
Why is hiding a window / app not a 1-click window control? Perhaps with Option+Click as Hide All Others.Window controls exist to streamline common tasks; hiding is a very common task in OS X.
I have a 21.5" iMac bought in November 2009. I am having a strange happening with it. I have just been using Mail, clicked on the red button at the top left to quit, but the mail window just kept disappearing all but about 3mm off the screen to the top and top left and not quitting. I have also had this happen when using Safari, occasionally if I click on a link on the page to another open another page Safari disappears off the top and top left except for about 3mm.
Ever since I updated to Yosemite I've noticed a strange behavior with the Messages window. If the Messages window is partially obscured behind another window and I click in the Messages window title bar area, the window comes to the front but it's in some sort of "move pending" mode. The next location I click is where the window is moved to. Is this a new "feature" of Yosemite? I may have turned on some preference without realizing it. Seems to only do it with the Messages window.
Composing an e-mail on G-mail and I want to attach a file, the window opens in such a large size that I cannot see or can I click on the "Cancel" button or the "Open" button to attach it to the e-mail. How do I reduce the size of the Finder window
In the past I could hold down the command key while double clicking on a folder and it would open in it's own separate window. Now in OS 10, it produces a tab, but not a separate window.Â
I almost feel embarrassed asking such a simple question, considering all the major problems I read about to see if the answer to my question was already up there. Â
I have some other questions - such as why Photoshop works so slowly, etc, which I'll ask later.Â

I've assigned the tags I want to a file, I'll get the beach ball. If I go into the Force Quit window it will say that Finder is not responding. But if I wait about 20-30 seconds it stops and I can go about my business w/o re-starting the Finder. I only noticed this after installing Yosemite. I use tags A LOT.

it looks like windows 7 is 100X better than vista. My friends, who are running it via bootcamp, also say it is amazing.Right now, I am on XP SP3, which I strictly use for gaming. Everything else I do on OSX. I don't like being on an obselete OS very much, but the ONLY thing I use XP for is gaming, and haven't had any issues. Therefore, I have been under the impression that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" what do you guys think? Is windows 7 a must-get over xp, or should I stick with obselete, but very stable XP?
When attempting to move a file that will need administrator authentication, the authentication window to enter a password does not populate. Thus, I am unable to move the file.
When I try to print something from the internet, the entire print window doesn't show up. For instance, I can see the print button, cancel button, and how many pages it is. I can only see about an inch of the preview.
I am getting a dialog box about upgrading the Office database. It keeps reappearing even if I click "Quit Outlook" or "Upgrade".I cannot make it go away.

Since upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.1, sent messages do not appear in my sent box. In order to have a record of my sent messages I have been blind-copying them to myself; very cumbersome.

I have a MacBook1,1 running Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. I would like to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. The Mac App Store says that a 64 bit processor is required. since my MacBook has a 32 bit Intel Core Duo, I would like to replace it with a 64 bit Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Is this possible, if so, what are the risks and should I bring it into an Apple store to get it fixed.
I am trying to install OS X Yosemite but its giving me error "Security Violation: OS X Yosemite installation has been blocked by IT until Cisco's applications and tools have been validated " although this device belongs to me and have installed Cisco Anyconnect but uninstalled it but no sucess and other thing is MDM Profile attaching the screenshot for reference.
I upgraded from Yosemite 10.10 to 10.10.1 a bit over a week ago. I am using a Mac Pro (Mid-2010). iMessage worked fine after my upgrade from Mavericks 9.5 to Yosemite 10.10. When the 10.10.1 upgrade came out, I upgraded. Now, I cannot activate iMessage. I get a message that basically says my Apple ID is not recognized. The same Apple ID and iMessage work fine on my rMPB (late 2013) running the upgraded Yosemite 10.10.1. I have not, in all my attempts to activate, received the error code that some folks mention.Â
