I have been burning pics from iphoto to disc since I purchased my imac with no problem. Now I just get the message "no devices are available for burning". Also, my system does not recognize a cd in the drive. What is the reason? if it can only be that simple.

i use Preview to open most of my pics outside of iPhoto. my question is this- how can i get the icons of all my jpegs to show a little thumbnail of the actual pic? right now, i don't know what the pic is until i open it because all that is displayed is the generic thumbnail icon for preview. a bit of a pain...

My brother has told me its simple to switch over itunes library but sure he isnt gonna tell me, he is like that! My iMac desktop is tiger 10.4.11 & i want to transfer my itunes library, including apps/films/tv shows etc to my macbook laptop which is 10.5. I have uploaded most of my pics to mobile me so that they are safe but I have home movies also & want to secure them. I was gonna upgrade the imac tiger to snow leopard as Im probably getting a time capsule as a gift & would need to be 10.5 or higher to use it I believe but i decided against that. I will just use the desktop for general browsing etc & not keep anything of sentimental value on it.

I am transferring my iPhoto library to an external hard drive and it is agonizingly slow.
I am attempting to make room on our iMac so am moving our 193 GB iPhoto library to our Seagate 2TB external hard drive. The drive is brand new AND is formated properly as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) but the current copy estimate is for it be completed in over 80 hours. I dont beleive the drive is broken as data is continuing to be transferred and not completely hung up.
When I transfer other folders/files the process is much much faster. Problem only seems to be with iPhoto library that I have found.

I have Iphoto 5.0.4 and it had been working fine ever since we got our powerbook in 2003. Two rolls ago, I imported some vacation pics of my kids, then went through them and deleted those that I didn't like.
A week later, I wanted to look at them again and found "grey boxes" instead of pics thumbnails. Iphoto freezes everytime I try to open them, the colorful wheel keeps on spinning for a while.
I tried to Iphoto library folder to open them but a box comes up and says that's it's corrupted or not recogniazable format. It also shows on the description that it's 0kb but when I open iphoto and manage to click on the pic/grey box and it shows the regular file size.
fix, or recover those pics as they're great memories or our family vacation? I would really appreciate it. BTW, I tried rebuilding the library but it didn't work.
I have backed up my pictures on a hard drive but the file is greyed out once plugged into my new laptop. Seems like this should be easier.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have used mac all my life but still seldom know what I am doing. I just got a new macbookpro and used migration assistant to transfer everything.
Most of my files, however, did not transfer, including my iphoto library.
When responses are posted to this question, they usually read something along the lines of "copy your iphoto library to so and so and import the library or click new album." I understand all that.
What I need to know is how to get the photos from my powerbookG4 to my new computer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOur family has had a Mac for about a year and recently we started getting warnings about space and Startup Disk getting full. We have a 250GB drive and and have about 30GB free. Movies are taking up 121GB and Pictures 31GB. We want to move the iMovie files off the laptop after we create a DVD of our sons basketball season. Recently my wife deleted files by going to iPhoto and selected multiple files and then pressed OPTION + COMMAND + DELETE, to remove them. Afterwards iPhoto said it was updating library and was scanning like up to 84K of items. We only had a library of 6K items. Once complete it did finally show about 1k items left. I would really like to copy files to USB rather than delete them. Help, how do you move these files to USB?

MacBook Pro - I scanned in photos and they entered into the computer in tif file. I tried several different ways to convert them to jpg. I finally read that if I transferred them into iPhoto they would automatically go into jpg form. I went to use them for the website I am making and they still can't be transferred so I am assuming that they are still in tif format.

I am trying to transfer my applications from my emac 10.2.8 os to my new iMac w/Snow Leopard OS. I have transferred the HD by way of Migration Assistant and firewire cable to the iMac. Whenever I try to open an application such as IPhoto from the HD icon I get "you cannot use this version of iphoto with the Imac version" or something to that effect. I have Iphoto 2.0.1. It is similar with other applications.
