I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro, the new unibody ones, and I installed Windows XP, using BootCamp.
I made it a 29 or so GB partition, so it used the FAT32 formatting.
The program I tried to install is the eyeQ speed reading program, and the laptop exceeds every single one of the recommended requirements.
The problem comes when I am attempting to install the program, I keep getting an error message in which it says "This program cannot run on a computer with less than 64 megabytes of ram."
Last time I checked my laptop has 4 GB of ram, and it says the same thing when I checked it while running Windows XP.
My only guess, which I made while typing this, was that I should have formatted the Windows partition using NTSF.
I am purchasing a new Macbook Pro this evening. What is the easiest way to transfer all of my data from a Windows based PC?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHow do you use Windows based keyboards (like...the typing keyboard, not musical) if they have Mac compatibility. Take the Logitech Wave for example. It has both Windows and Mac compatibility- But it has a Control/Windows/Alt button, instead of Control/Option/Command buttons. Do they come with Command/Option keys, or do you just get really mad when you look at your keyboard (I know I would)?

I have plugged in several external hard drives to download photos, a card reader, and a printer. How do I install these devices? How do I install a printer? They obviously are not "plug and play". What am I doing wrong?

First time Mac owner here! Purchased an iMac last week and love it. Have been a Windows guy all my life until now. Having trouble adding my Windows networked printer. So I downloaded the print driver from here and ran the installer. Then I connected to the networked printer I have and selected a driver from the drop down box, not sure if its the one that was installed or not. Tried printing a test page, no such luck.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to turn an old Windows machine into a media server and file server, but not sure which Windows apps are Mac compatible. This is sort of hit and miss to post here, as it mainly involves looking for Windows applications, but the mac would be using them so it's sort of suitable.
I have setup a DLNA server for PS3 already which is working correctly. I've setup a UPNP server called Air Video for use with media for the iPhone and iPad.
I tried to setup an FTP server for use with files from both machines but the mac would not connect to it. It kept saying the login was wrong but it was right. I also setup a VNC server which the iphone using iTeleport could connect to but the Mac just would not connect.
So the main question is: Is there a FTP and VNC server for Windows which works 100% with a Mac as the client? After these two are working the server is completed.
Background: I have a 500GB WD HDD in a Dell XPS that has obviously windows on it and my itunes catalog. I want to take that 500GB drive, put it the enclosure, and do time machine backups.
1) Can I just put the drive in and do time machine backups to it without the need to delete it? (the drive probably has 350GB free)
2) Can I access the Windows content from my MBP?
3) Can I pull the itunes library off and transfer it to my MBP?
4) Any other suggestions about doing this switch?
I recently switched to Macs and purchased a Macbook Pro(which I love!). I'm still getting used to the OS, but I ran into a problem.
I was using a Windows computer before for my iPod (classic, not sure if that matters). I would like to transfer the songs I have from my windows iPod, onto my new Mac, but I'm not sure if that's possible(I think I may have read on Apple's website you can't switch from Mac to Windows but I'm not sure, but thats besides the point).
I don't really want to download a program to move my songs from the iPod onto the Mac.
besides parallel desktop and boot camp . Is there other ways to install a Windows-based game on Snow Leopard/MBP ?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a 17 Inch Intel-based IMac (2006). when I press the power button I can here and feel fans running but the Power Indicator Light turns on and the screen remains black. Nothing else happens. Not sure what I did. I didn't take anything apart. I checked over the whole compartment and all connectors appear to still be connected.
I did some research figured out how to disassemble the IMac, purchased a new hard drive, backed up the computer and when I took it all apart there was a third connector on the hard drive (temp sensor?). The new drive did not have this connector so instead of experimenting I put the computer all back together.
I have a 2007 20 inch Intel core 2 duo iMac and an LG 46" LCD tv. I bought an HDMI cable and a Mini DVI to HDMI adapter but cannot get them to work together. Nothing happens when I click on detect displays in the system preferences.Â
Do I possibly have the wrong version on Mini DVI, for instance DVI-D instead of DVI-I?
