Oct 31, 2010I have a 17" iMac G4 that I was rung Tiger with, then I installed Leopard 10.5. I use this as a second computer. All is fine except that my Epson scanner does not work with 10.5. I've tried the latest drivers. I'd like to reinstall Tiger. I used the 10.5 disc to reformat the drive and start from square one. When I boot from my original Tiger disc it starts opening it's windows, but when I get to the point where I can choose Install or use Disk Utility to reformat from the Tiger disc, all windows freeze and I need to hard reboot from the power switch. Am I correct to assume that 10.5 won't let 10.4 to reinstall. Is this correct?

May 27, 2009Imac has all the updates before I partitioned with bootcamp (52 GB) I inserted a Win 7 Pro 32 bit disc (OEM from newegg). It installed windows and auto rebooted, windows came up and auto booted again. All I got was a black screen, I think it just turned off. I tried powering the machine on and booted to windows, but a message asking if I wanted to boot normally or go into safe mode. Does anyone have an idea why I can't get past this step?

Feb 12, 2008Well I finally got the drivers off of the MBA install DVD (URL). Just dumped them on to a USB stick. I installed XP Pro again using bootcamp assistant without a hitch. Rebooted into XP, put the USB stick in and ran the setup.exe off of it. XP blue screened when installing Broadcam drivers it appears.

The OS is Leopard Server, the Mac(s) are a dual 500MHz Powermac G4, and a 2.0 Core Duo Macbook Pro.
The OS does not want to install on the Powermac, it comes back with issues no matter what I do.
So, could I install Leopard Server on my Powermac by putting it into Target Disk Mode and installing it via my MBP?

Jun 9, 2009I have a macbook intel(black) it originally came with tiger, i installed leopard on it a while ago. How ever i dont like leopard i want tiger back. I lost the original grey cds that came with my macbook so i hooked it up to my imac with target disk mode. I erased the disk using disk utility. Then i installed tiger with an original copy of tiger bought in a mac store. My imac rebooted i follow the installation menu and it installed. the internal drive of my macbook booted on my imac asif it were an external drive.
I rebooted into the internal drive of the imac and ejected the macbook drive. I disconnected the firewire cable and rebooted my macbook. The problem is that it wont boot properly it just goes to the white screen make the startup sound and starts flashing a folder with a questionmark in it. ive tried resetting the pram etc but it doesnt seem to work. i tried holding alt at boot up all i get is the cursor and nothing happens. i can still connect it to my imac but that it. how can i get my macbook to reboot properly again?"

Apr 19, 2010I'm trying to install OS X on an Intel X25-M SSD. I'm at the point where it asks to select the disk where you want to install Mac OS X but no disks are showing as available. I can see that the computer recognizes the Intel SSD in Disk Utility but it says it's not formatted. Is that the issue?

Jul 15, 2010I have a Macbook pro 17" 2008 model, and I just bought a new 160gb Intel X-25m solid state hard drive. I installed it into the mac with no problem, but when I boot up with the OS boot disc 1, the drive doesn't show up in the "destination" screen. No drives are there. When I open Disk Utility the drive is there, and shown as read/write, but when I boot with option held down the drive isn't there either. I can't even do any repairs on the drive in the disk utility.

Nov 12, 2009I Have my 15" macbook pro 2,4 Ghz 2G in RAM, with Snow Leopard, bootcamp and vista running for some time (about a year or so) and every thing has been going ok. Last night I made a clean windows 7 installation. All went good, installation, let windows 7 make his updates, I put Snow Leopard disk to make macbook pro drivers updates and I installed all the program I need including Norton 2010 Antivirus.
All went smooth and easy untill I activated Windows 7 with Daz Windows Loader 1.6.9. After a few seconds It said : Everything Ok, Windows is now activated and your machine will reboot now. After that, it gets out of the desktop to the closing window and suddenly I get the blue death screen. I have to manually press de power button to shut down my macbook pro.
I reboot again and after getting the safe mode screen stuff i just keep with Start Windows normally. It starts well again, but now each time I want to reboot or shut down my MBP I get again and again the blue death screen. And I�m sure i will get it while working soon.Is it probably because I did all kind of updates before running the Daz Loader (including programs and antivirus software)??

OS X :: Macbook Leopard - Freezing On Reboot?
Jul 30, 2010I have googled for the past couple of hours but can't find exactly what I am after. I have a macbook and I have leopard os x 10.5.2. I don't remember the last time I did a os x update (or if I ever have). But I was getting updates to download the newer version of itunes and safari (I was having trouble accessing some sites, and itunes won't let me visit the store because of safari or something.) So I've run the system update and it says it is going to install 10.5.8, and the new version of itunes. It downloads fine and then asks me to restart. I click restart and the computer goes to the reboot type screen and a box pops up saying "Software update" and underneath it says 'Configuring Installation'. The little blue bar loads a smidge and then it sits in the one spot and doesn't move at all. I have tried this in the past and I had left the laptop for hours and came back and it hadn't moved at all. So I force quit to get back into my computer. Now I have no idea what to do? Do I download 10.5.8 directly from the apple website? Or do I have to download 10.5.3, then 10.5.4 etc.

I have pressed install for my Mac HDD and it says "Your computer will restart". So I let the Mac restart which it does, but then nothing has changed. I just see the my Snow Leopard desktop with no messages or errors.Â
If I run the Mavericks setup again it does exactly the same thing. It seems whatever is supposed to trigger after reboot to continue setup isnt running.Â

Jun 27, 2012I have a mid 07 iMac that I just upgraded the memory in and now it wont reboot. I had two 1 gig and switched to two 2 gigs. I can replace one of the 2 gigs with one of the original 1 gigs and it will start and shows in "about this mac" that I have 3 gigs??? Then take the 1 gig back out replace with the other new 2 gig and wont reboot again. Â

Aug 28, 2009Macbook 2.4Ghz with Leopard 10.5.8, 320Gb drive (2 partitions)
Doing the standard upgrade install so I shove the SL disc in and run the installer, after an age it eventually reboots.
Then after another long wait the installer finally appears but when it asks to choose the drive to install to, my drive doesn't appear.
From the utilities menu, I can access disk utility and it only shows the DVD drive.
If I access system profiler my hard disk is still there in the SATA section.
Seems like I'm going to have format and do a clean install unless anyone has any ideas?

Oct 13, 2009I searched the forum, but saw a lot of sleep issues. None quite like mine. I have a MBP 13" bought in June. When I close the lid, it goes to sleep just fine. When I open it, I can hear it start up. The sleep light becomes illuminated, but then about 5 seconds later goes back to sleep.I have tried to hold the power button and shut the computer down, and start it back up. When it starts up, it shows the white screen with the apple logo, then goes blue, and is about to load the log-on screen, and goes back to sleep. I have already tried an archive and install, and a erase and install. Neither worked.Occassionally it will start back up if I just wait 20-30 minutes. Sorry about the long log, but I do not know what information is needed. I tried to wake from sleep around 1:27 in the logs, and it actually let me boot up and log on around 1:53. To give you an idea of what I was doing to cause these
logs.

Jun 9, 2012I have a snowleopard macbook pro and earlier I did what shouldn't be allowed a user to do. I modified the computer's permissions to read-only or write only. After I did that nothing opened. Apps or folders or files. So I reboot and It won't reboot either. The same thing happened to me about 2 years ago and I found a pretty much straightforward solution. Pressing command- or alt-something while booting and then just fixing the thing. I have tried to find a solution like that again on google and in here and mostly what I've found are solutions that involve re-installing the whole OS.

Intel Mac :: Stuck In Reboot Loop (even After A Reinstall Of OS From DVD)
Jun 10, 2012I have a 6 month old iMac (bought Dec 2011). It has 10.6.8 with all patches. It began to randomly shut down and got stuck in the reboot loop (sometimes, the problem was a reawakening after sleep, but even a simple shutdown/restart wouldnt guarantee correct behavior).Â
I did the Apple Hardware Test (it reported - no troubles found), reset the SMC, PRAM - all to no avail.Â
Finally, i reinstalled the OS from the DVD that came along with the iMac. Left it for a few hours to download the "jumbo" patch from apple site, and now it is back to behaving the same way - it is stuck in a reboot loop! I dont know if it installed the patch or not, as soon as i touched any key to wake up the iMac, it rebooted (like before). And now I gotta try the boot process like 15 times and it may boot correctly. Safe Mode boot is also not guaranteed to work. It shows the sliding bar and then back to reboot!Â
If it were a software issue, the reinstall of the OS should have fixed that? If it were a hardware issue, the AHT should have caught that? Am I stuck with a lemon? Just one of those bad pieces that are inevitable in any assembly line production?Â
