Lion recovery update from the software update won't install. Keeps spooling (I think that is the word for the updaet never seems to finish updating). I'm using Lion and I can't run some of my powerpc programs. Want to install tiger on a partition (Extended Journaled type) made on Lion using Disk Utility, my only question here is: Will it work if I've burned on a DVD the installer of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger Install DVD (PPC) and then run the instalation and trigger it to this partition? Or if this is not the proper way, which is it? I would really love to have both OS on my iMac 24-in Intel Core 2 Duo mid 2007.
I've read that newer macs won't accept this procedure I'm trying to pull out, but my actual iMac (2007) came with Tiger installed on it, but the install disk is lost, tried to find it but I never could.

I am trying to install OSX Lion onto my Late 2009 iMac 27" computer. I download it from the App Store and install it via the installer.The computer restarts itself and finishes installing, then once it restarts again it boots back into OSX 10.7.4. No errors or problems, just never follows through on install once completed.

Have just installed 10.7.4. Now, I finally have to hose PPC (and even some hangover Classic) applications. I know, I know, I should have done it earlier, before even Snow Leopard. For me, the easiest place to ID them is in ABOUT THIS MAC ➜ MORE INFO ➜ SYSTEM REPORT ➜ SOFTWARE ➜ APPLICATIONS ➜ which in the sub categories of CLASSIC and PPC are rosters of > 250 items. How to trash them from this window? I upgraded to Lion after its release and ever since then my wifi has been driving me crazy. The wifi disconnects, and when I click on my network I get the error that the connection timed out. I'm always forced to turn the wifi off and then back on. It happened a ton, and consistently. It's extremely frustrating especially when I'm in the middle of a movie on my Apple TV and my iMac loses its internet and interrupts the show. Sometimes it happens three or more times during one show. So I decided to do a clean install of Lion. I made sure all my important documents were on my Hard Drive and even wrote a list out of every application that I use regularly. Then I completely reformatted my hard drive and did a clean install of Lion.

Installed an update for WePrint Server APP which popped up onscreen. Downloaded update, installer program loaded, selected drive, and install was successful. Closed the install program window (Safari open in background along with other programs running in dock, but not on screen), but the Installer menu bar remained on the top of the screen. Lost the OSX Lion Status / menu bar, the Apple icon, time, user, etc. Was able to use Safari, but not without hesitation.
The Safari menu bar at the top of the screen never appeared while in Safari, the Install Program menu did not disappear, even thought there was no evidence that the program was still running. No icon in dock, no hidden screen page or window. Closed all the running programs in the docks, and checked Force Quit, (ctrl+alt+esc) and no installer program remained. Unable to shut off or restart the computer without using the on / off button on the back of the intel mac monitor. Once rebooted all seems well.

One of an ongoing series of issues moving to Lion (whatta workout!). This one involves Mail and iCloud. Porting my MobilMe to iCloud has been problematic - I' ve been asked to do it three or four times, with each time being succesful when viewing through Safari. But now I've realized that the iCloud mail is not being picked up by Mail on my iMac (2009). I go to System Preferences to see if I can do something about it, but iCloud isn't there - just MobileMe.
So I click on MobileMe and (again) it asks me to move everything to iCloud. I do this and some error is generated (can't get it to replicate & don't recall what it was), and I can't sign in - it doesn't recognize my login, although I'm still currently in iCloud via Safari - clear as mud? Yikes. Bottom line: Mail can't get at iCloud mail to download, and sign-in seems broken. In 25 years on a Mac, I've never come across this level of Windows-like challenges.

Ever since I downloaded iplayer - my mac has been running slow. I have followed a few tips to remove it and all other related files - but it still runs low (spinning wheel of death) and now pdf's dont download correctly (I guess I have deleted too much).Â
My ideal would be to start from scrach - although I want to keep my itunes and iphotos files as well as my documents. Is there a way to reload back to factory settings then add selected programs and folders from timemachine? I am in the process of timemachine backing up everything now.Â

I purchased a new intel ssd and am having trouble setting it up. First I backed up my entire system using time machine to my time capsule. I inserted the ssd and used the mac osx install disc. I partitioned the ssd. At this point I went into utiities and selected restore from backup. I selected my backup source then selected the backup date and time. The next screen is the problem. It is called select a destination. It just says searching for disks but never does anything else.

It's hard for me to believe that Apple would not think that people would want to upgrade their Macs after purchase. I'm not one for "hack" jobs and I heard that without the proper connectors the fan will go into overdrive and I don't want that.

Figure to just install new SSD drive and keep working old one as a backup (not a time machine backup) and use Lion thumb drive and do a cleaninstall. Also have latest iLife on dvd. ? I have a 1.83 ghz intel mac mini. it has a busted internal cd drive, i use a sony dl dvd burner and 2 external hard drives. I have a retail copy of snow leopard. In the instructions, the guide says sl will install from an external optical drive. Heres what I have tried so far.
Installing from external optical drive- when i try this it goes through the normal verifications, i agree to eula, when i get to the grey screen with spinning apple, after a few minutes a "no" sign pops up, like a no smoking sign and my computer restarts and takes me to the login screen.
I thought maybe it was a disk space issues so i backed up, erased some items and freed up about 20 gb, giving me 30 gb of free disk space. tried again with installation and same thing happens.
next i went into disk utility and verified and repaired permissions, which was a lot, tried again and same thing. next i verified disk. disk is ok.
next i started thinking perhaps its the disk. so i tried to install sl on my moms unibody macbook. installation went fine, she is running 10.6 like a champ.
So then i decided to try a remote installation. i unplugged all usb devices, including the dvd burner and ran the remote install assistant. im using and ethernet cable connection, with the 2 computers plugged directly to each other, and i can browse both computers files from one another. when i restart the mini with the assistant running on the macbook, when i hold down option to select the start up device, the only option listed is starting from the mini's own hard drive and not the macbook.
I've tried everything i could think out with asking. But now i would really like some. If any one has any suggestions, i am all ears. Im gonna be heading for school now, and will respond with what ever I can after 10pm pacific.
I have an Intel iMac running under Lion 10.7.3. and cannot use FaceTime, which never worked anyhow, since it does not accept any of my 3 Apple ID's, which otherwise work perfectly fine. I uninstalled FaceTime assuming that there was a fault in it and tried to reinstall from the Apple Store, where it shows that I own a copy. But reinstall tells me that my OS X version is too new.
